Motion in Two or Three Dimensions
A bird flies in the xy plane with a velocity vector given by v = [( α – βt 2 ) , γt ]. Positive y –
direction is vertically upwards, and at time t = 0 the bird is in position (0 , 0).
(a) The unit of speed is provided with SI basic units. Express the units to α , β
and γ.
(b) Calculate the position and acceleration vector of the bird as a function of
the time.
(c) The values of the constant quantities without unit are given by α = 4.0, β = 3.0
and γ = 2.0. Plot the XY position of the bird at times t = 0, t = 1,0s and
t = 2,0s. Sketch the direction of the speed and acceleration vector at these
the times
