How does the acceleration of the object compare to acceleration due only to gravity?

Unit 2: Session 2 Post-lab
The data in the table are values of a falling object’s position as a function of time.
Use the data to answer the following questions. All measurements of speed have
uncertainty 0.5m/s.
Use LoggerPro (available to download on the course Canvas page) to plot the
speed as a function of time. Include error bars in your plot:
Time (s) Speed (m/s)
0.10 0.92
0.20 2.35
0.30 2.85
0.40 2.22
0.50 3.78
0.60 4.78
0.70 4.98
0.80 6.38
0.90 6.46
1.00 6.21
1.10 8.35
1.20 9.09
1.30 8.47
1.40 7.56
1.50 7.82
1.60 8.72
1.70 8.1
1.80 8.95
1.90 7.61

  • Left-click on the Y-column, choose “Column Options” and select “Y” (your
    values for speed).
  • In the box that pops up, go to the Options tab.
  • Check the “Error Bar Calculations” box.
  • Select “Error Constant +/-” and enter 0.5
    a. What is the object’s acceleration while it is accelerating?
    b. Is the object’s acceleration constant? How do you know?
    c. Is the acceleration of the object ever zero? How do you know?
    d. How does the acceleration of the object compare to acceleration due only
    to gravity?
× How can I help you?
