Evaluate the use of people analytics at Agoda.

Preamble
To be successful in this assignment students will have to work well together. This project will require both
independent work and students sharing their different contributions to help create an integrated report. It
has been designed so it will be possible to ascertain the quality of individual contributions as well as the quality
of the overall report produced.
The task
You are a group of outside consultants who have been asked to evaluate the use of people analytics at Agoda.
Your report will be read by two audiences. The first is the senior executive team at Agoda interested in an
assessment by outsiders to understand what they are doing well, what they are not doing so well and how
they could improve things. The second audience is the executive of the local trade union council interested in
running a campaign to recruit employees of Agoda into the local service workers unions.
In conducting your analysis your primary source of information is the case study prepared by Ken Mark
entitled ‘Agoda: People Analytics and Business Culture’ (2017). A copy of this is on the Canvas site. On the
basis of the information in that case study, and other information you can obtain from desk-based research,
evaluate the company’s approach to developing and deploying people analytics. Make sure you locate your
analysis of the company’s approach to people analytics in the context of Agoda’s business strategy. Most
attention should be devoted to how people analytics works to shape:

  1. recruitment,
  2. performance management and
  3. wage/salary setting at Agoda.
Be clear about how different stakeholders (managers, employees) may define success differently
    ▪ when you take a management perspective you will be primarily interested in how to govern the
workforce to achieve core business objectives
    ▪ when you take a worker perspective, you will primarily be interested in how work helps people to
    flourish.
Assess how current arrangements could be improved. If you think they can be improved, outline how this
    could occur.
