You will write about what it means to be American using some of the categories I have introduced: Economic, Political, Race, Gender, Ethnicity, Education, Family, Religion. But them in the box under Assignment.

Goes like this:

Three Short Arguments: Thing one, thing two, thing three

Conclusion

Everybody should be able to write a three-point essay. And that’s all I need. But make an argument for each of your 3 points. Why should I believe you? Why is X more important than Y? Etc.
