Write a paragraph describing what your sound experience was like in each condition, for each sound source.

Experiential Learning Activity: Environmental Sound Measuring Option- Download any free sound level meter application on your smart phone that allows you to view the dB SPL and spectrum of sound. Measure no less than 8 different environmental sounds (this can be anything!). You must then alter your perception of the sound be either using earplugs (attenuate) and cupping your pinna with your hands (amplify). You must write a paragraph describing what your sound experience was like in each condition, for each sound source. This means in total you should have a minimum of 24 paragraphs describing your sound experience. At least 4 of the sound experiences must include a speech stimulus

Content that must be included for each sound source:

1. A screen shot (image) of the intensity AND frequency spectrum of the sound
   1. Each paragraph should describe your perceived loudness of the sound and your

experience with the sounds pitch. You must address how loudness and

frequency changed after using earplugs or pinna cupping.

• For the minimum of 4 sounds that include a speech stimulus you must describe

the perception of speech. Some points that should be address include

• Speech Clarity
  • Speech Volume
  • Perceived Speech Signal to Noise Ratio
  • How much effort was required to understand the speech signal
