1) Identify at least two of Abraham Lincoln’s feelings about slavery as a child or
young adult. How sure can we be of his true feelings at this point in his life?
2) Identify at least two of Abraham Lincoln’s arguments against the expansion of
slavery from his debates with Stephen Douglas. Was Lincoln really anti-slavery, or
not?
3) What new information from this week’s readings especially intrigued, surprised or
disturbed you? What questions does this raise about American history?
