Overview

This task requires you to write a critical research paper that critically evaluates an issue in administrative law.

Your essay will be marked against the criteria contained in the CRA sheet (below). Please note that the criteria are not equally weighted, and are generally listed in descending order of importance (that is, the most important criteria are listed at the top).

Please be reminded that this is an individual research task. This means that you cannot collude with other students, and that you cannot plagiarise others’ work.

To complete this task, you will need to:

1. Research the assignment question with a view to identifying relevant primary materials (cases and legislation) and secondary materials (eg, journal articles and books).

2. Critically review the primary and secondary materials that you have identified to determine which are the most relevant for the purposes of drafting your paper.

3. Plan and write your paper critically evaluating whether the special interest requirement for standing for judicial review warrants reform.

4. Plan your response logically, so that your argument (thesis) is stated clearly at the beginning and developed throughout using logical reasoning and examples for illustration.

5. Present your response in essay form, including an introduction, body and conclusion, and include headings to signpost the major issues.
