2. The essay formatting needs to be Times New Roman, 12 point font, and double spaced sentences, submitted as a file upload (MS Word or PDF).

3. Write a 500-600 word essay that answers these questions: 1) what is the article about, 2) what argument is the author making, and 3) what reasoning/evidence does the author provide to support their argument?

4. An “A” level paper will:

-demonstrate a close reading of the article and thoughtful examination of its content

-be supported by evidence from the text (and lecture, where applicable). For example: (Schmidt, 310), (Foner, 17), (Hickey Lecture, 7/25/2022).

-be carefully proofread for clarity, content, spelling and grammar

5. Each essay needs an intro paragraph, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph needs a topic sentence and supporting detail from the reading.
