I need help with this informative speech.
This is a five to seven minute speech so minimum of 750 words in which I am asked to inform my audience about a current topic and my topic is “are men a victim of domestic violence as well?” For this speech you should focus
on the following: 1) content organization, and structure; 2) conducting research; and 3) properly
supporting your speech. Make sure that your speech is purely informative. Do not include
statements that ask us to take some action or change our minds.
Preparation

1. Select your topic
   a. Pick an ethically appropriate topic
   b. Narrow your topic appropriately for the time limit.
2. Determine your purpose
   a. Your purpose is “to inform my audience about …
3. Analyze your audience.
   a. Find out what they know about your topic.
4. Search for materials
   a. Start with what you already know.
   b. Use books, magazines, and electronic references (avoid Internet sites that are not
   credible).
   c. Look for good quotes, examples, analogies etc. Cite all information.
   d. Keep a reference list of all possible materials that you may use as a reference in
   your speech.
5. Organize your information.
   a. Group information into a minimum of two and a maximum of five main points.
   b. Expand all main points to a minimum of two sub points and one set of sub-
   subpoints.
   c. Construct your introduction and conclusion.
