Ascertain the defenses to the action and determine if the union employees have valid claims.

Assume that an unfair labor practice charge was filed against your company by several current employees and three prospective employees.

On July 29, 2016, Delphi Golf, Inc. and the union entered a collective bargaining agreement. The majority of the company’s employees covered by the agreement had not designated the union as their collective-bargaining representative. The agreement contains a union-security clause requiring employees who are members in good standing of the union to maintain their membership in good standing and all other employees to become members of the union on or before the 31st day following the effective date of the agreement or the date of their hire. The union instructed Delphi Golf, Inc. not to employ three servers for restaurant positions in the company because the servers were not members of the union. The company is an employer within the meaning of Section 2(2) of the act engaged in commerce within the meaning of Section 2(6) and (7) of the act.

How can a family system support a client who is seeking a job or additional education? When might a family system work against an individual with these needs?

You are interviewing for a Human Services Generalist Position with a human services organization that serves a community near you. They provide educational and employment resources to job-seeking, low-income families and individuals.

As part of the interview process, the hiring manager has asked you to prepare a visually appealing PowerPoint slideshow introducing ways to coordinate various systems within a client’s life that are supportive and encourage them to thrive. Your PowerPoint slideshow will need to:

  1. Have a title slide that includes the name of your community.
  2. Contain 4-6 content slides.
  3. Address the following:
  4. What personality/human behaviors need to be addressed with regard to helping someone find a job and/or seek education?
  5. How can a family system support a client who is seeking a job or additional education? When might a family system work against an individual with these needs?
  6. What macro systems/social forces need to be considered?
  7. Suggest 2 national and 2 local community resources to help individuals from low-income families who are seeking employment or additional education.
  8. Use proper spelling/grammar.
  9. Cite at least 3 academic references and present the sources in APA format on a References slide.

When developing a presentation, it’s important to be mindful of how you layout your content. The slides should present key points, arranged in a logical manner, without extraneous information contributing to a cluttered look. Using the Speaker Notes feature in PowerPoint is a great way to include relevant details to be shared during your presentation without overloading the slides.

Create an EcoMap illustrating the life elements described in the written scenario.

Marcus and His Family

Marcus is a 24-year-old young man who has been diagnosed with undifferentiated schizophrenia. He lives at home with his mother and father who continue to work full time. Marcus’ mom, Olivia, is a legal secretary and his dad, Joseph, is an electrician. Marcus is the youngest of 3 children. His brother, Greg, enlisted in the military and lives abroad. His sister, Anna, is attending University majoring in pre-dentistry.

His symptoms are controlled with medication but he has a flat affect and does experience hallucinations and delusions about once a week. Marcus is no longer covered by his parent’s health insurance, and his medication to control the symptoms of schizophrenia will run out within the next 30 days. Marcus is disabled and cannot hold down full time employment. He does work part time with a landscaper who gives Marcus money to clean the lawnmower and other odd jobs. Marcus makes about $50.00 a week.

Marcus and his family live in a small community with one behavioral health clinic in the area. The psychiatrist is only available once a month. The family is a member of a local Baptist church. Their closest family members live about 3 hours away in a larger town. Sometimes Olivia and Joseph need help caring for Marcus, but resources are limited. Olivia and Joseph have lived in the community their entire lives. They have several close friends, but their friends are hesitant to get close to Marcus because his behaviors are very odd.

Recently, Marcus was at the local Family Dollar store and he started yelling and screaming. The cashier called the police and Marcus was arrested. Olivia and Joseph showed up to get their son and he was disoriented and very afraid. You are assigned to the case as the Human Services Professional from the behavioral health clinic.

As the Human Services Professional assigned to this case, address the following:

· Create an EcoMap illustrating the life elements described in the written scenario.

1. Make sure you identify the family and the community resources.

· The EcoMap may be hand-drawn but you will need to digitize your drawing before inserting it into your submission. You can accomplish the digitizing in the following ways:

· Use a document-scanner or multifunction device to scan the image.

· Use a digital camera (possibly a smartphone’s camera) to take a photograph of the drawing, then insert the image into a Word document.

· Write a summary that explains at least 5 different supports, systems, and services that would help this family.

· Be sure to use proper spelling and grammar.

The client is a 21-year-old Filipino college student who needed to know what birth control is.

During my interview of this patient, I should be aware of the potential impact that social determinants of health may have on her health and risk assessment. For instance, her age may impact her level of knowledge about birth control options, and her ethnicity may influence her cultural beliefs and attitudes towards contraception. Also, her living situation in a dormitory may impact her access to confidential health care services. Such as the ability to walk to amenities within reasonable distance usually walk of thirty minutes or less, recreational spaces, and access to healthy foods, can influence health related behaviors, as well as a person’s access to quality of healthcare.

While communicating with this patient, it is important to be respectful and sensitive to her cultural beliefs and values. It is vital to provide her with accurate and up to date information about birth control options, and to ensure that she understands the potential risks and benefits of each option.

During the interviewing of this patient, I will use active listening skills and will ask open-ended questions in order to obtain the most accurate and complete information possible. I will also consider the potential impact of social determinants of health on her health and risk assessment, and to document all relevant information in her medical record.

When assessing this patient’s health-related risk, I will consider the potential impact of social determinants of health, such as her age, ethnicity, and living situation. I will also consider her current health status and any potential medical conditions that may impact her risk and to ensure that she understand the potential risks and benefits of her treatment options.

Risk assessment instrument

Knowledge, Attitude and Practice Questionnaire about Contraception and Reproductive Health.

Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs remain a significant health concern among adolescents and youth, whether they are sexually active or not. Notably, the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action (POA) consensus hallmark was increasing access to SRH (Liang et al., 2019). As such, appropriately addressing the client’s concerns would be vital. The Knowledge, Attitude and Practice Questionnaire about Contraception and Reproductive Health is an assessment tool designed to assess an individual reproductive knowledge and attitudes and consists of demographic Performa, structured attitude scale, structured knowledge questionnaire, and opinion on practice and preferences of contraceptive methods. The tool would be helpful in determining the client’s baseline knowledge and attitudes in sexual and reproductive health to tailor education (Sherpa et al., 2018).

Description of the communication techniques

Youth-friendly health services are important in addressing SRH needs. Youth face multiple barriers in accessing SRH services. Among the key strategies for youth-friendly services is ensuring that the services are private and confidential, cost-effective, and refrain from negative provider attitudes (Obiezu-Umeh et al., 2021).

Another communication consideration would be culture; the client is Filipino. According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (2019), cultural competence is considered a high priority for final patient-centered outcomes. Different cultures have different value systems that must be reflected in their care for culturally competent care. For instance, a person from another country may have linguistic barriers; notably, engaging a person whose first language is not English may present communication challenges. Establishing if the client is comfortable engaging in English or using an interpreter would be essential. Still, cultural competence requires cultural sensitivity. Notably, as the practitioner, I should refrain from stereotyping and stigmatizing patients, which results in negative consequences (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2019).

Summary of the interview

Nurse: How are you? I’m the nurse in charge of your case

Client: I’m good

Nurse: What brings you in today?

Client: I want to know about birth control

Nurse: Well, thank you for your inquiry. I know most young people have similar concerns. It is brave of you to seek such information from a health care provider. I will take you through your concerns

Client: Thank you

Nurse: First, I would like to inquire if you are comfortable using the English language

Client: Yes

Nurse: Thank you. Next, I would want to inform your confidentiality right. Notably, everything discussed in this session will be private unless there is enough reason to believe you pose a danger to yourself or others. Then, the information may be passed to relevant authorities to try to mitigate your actions.

Client: Okay

Nurse: I will provide you with one of our sexual and reproductive health assessment tools that will be used to evaluate your current knowledge and attitudes towards sexual and reproductive health. Then will begin a brief education session that best suit your needs.

Client: Okay

Nurse: Fill in this question, and then will proceed. Thank you for being so cooperative

Five targeted questions

1. Do you have a sexual partner now or ever?

2. What is your attitude toward premarital sexual behavior?

3. What kind of contraception do you know?

4. Who should be responsible for contraception?

5. Do you think sex education will lead to more sexual behavior?
