The chief technology officer (CTO) at ABC Widgets just returned from a technology conference where he heard about computer clusters. All he knows is that they are the big thing for businesses, and he wants to explore the technology. He has asked you to help.
Write a 3-page research paper explaining computer clustering, benefits, challenges, and potential applications. The paper should focus on one type of clustering application (file server, database, load balancing, web hosting, or data processing) and detail the use, potential setup (high availability or load balancing), type (COTS versus blade clusters), and network connectivity. Be sure that your paper has an introduction and a conclusion.

Services or goods could be exchanged for other services that may be of benefit in growing a business of a small stature.
When it comes with to negotiation and persuasion, it is worth mentioning that the strategy “win-win” does not mean that you should give away your position but rather look for alternatives clients can commit to from their own situation. You, as a consultant, can help them arrive at a solution without giving away your bargaining position.

You have just moved to a medium-sized city and are looking for clients. Through your networking efforts, you have met the owners of three businesses who have expressed an interest in having you help them as a consultant. You do not have a lot of detail about these businesses, but that can be an advantage, since you can use imagination and creativity to suggest potential technology and/or non-technology-based solutions. Some areas worth exploring include recognizing strategies to identify current and potential target markets, rationalizing new products and services that will bring additional value to the business as well as to the clientele, current or upcoming improvements in infrastructure, area demographics, educational and cultural preferences, and competition, to mention a few. You are the lead consultant for an IT consulting firm that specializes in software. Pearson Waters, Inc. is a large, national company that offers property and casualty insurance to businesses and individuals. Your consulting team was hired by Pearson Waters to investigate the possibility of specialized productivity software for their employees to use in storing and retrieving customer data and product details, as well as performing various estimates to show to customers. After researching options, the company approved the design of a new software package, which your team has just now completed.
While you are wrapping up the project, you make some shocking discoveries:
- Some of the programming code completed by your team was actually copied from another company’s proprietary software.
- Two images used in the Employee Instruction Booklet were randomly found on the Internet, and no permission was secured for their use.
These are clear ethics violations. To rectify the situation, you were forced to fire the programmer who stole the code, hire another programmer to ethically rewrite that part of the software package, reprimand the employee who stole the images, locate alternative images for which permission was granted, and reprint the Employee Instruction Booklet.
Write a memo to your team about the above situation. Follow all instructions below and make sure you have also completed the unit reading:
