What are the key dimensions of the beer industry structure (Please complete Porter’s Five Forces Framework to identify the industry structure).
Brooklyn Brewery, founded by Steve Hindy and Tom Potter in 1987, had grown exponentially from a neighborhood enterprise, brewing traditional lagers for local beer enthusiasts, to one of the top US craft beer producers. With success came an influx of competitors, both large and small. This case provides background on the company, the beer industry, and the emergence of the craft sector-and asks students to consider Brooklyn Brewery’s best strategy for future growth.
We will use this case to apply concepts learned this week. Please read the case in-depth 2-3 times and complete the following tasks:
1. Let’s identify the current Business Model of Brooklyn Brewery. In order to identify the business model, we will complete the Business Model Canvas Template provided below. The first page of the canvas provides definitions and explanation of what will go in each box.
2. What are the key dimensions of the beer industry structure (Please complete Porter’s Five Forces Framework to identify the industry structure).
3. What were the key structural obstacles faced by Hindy and Potter when they started BB (you must have identified these already with your Porter’s five force analysis)?
4. How did Brooklyn Brewery overcome the beer industry’s structural obstacles? In what way did its approach lead to profit margins high (or higher) than those of Big Beer?
You’re not writing a paper. Please make sure all the questions or answer. The reading material is attach below as well as the Business Model Canvas.
Explain which punishment best serves the offender and society.
Selina Johnson, 21 years old, was arrested for possession of cocaine. This is her first drug offense, and she had no prior arrest record. Additionally, she was charged with fencing stolen property to make money to support her drug habit. The police had seized from Selina’s apartment exactly $3,000 of stolen jewelry and $1,200 of clothing that had been stolen from a local shopping mall. Selina was subsequently convicted on felony drug charges, as well as felony possession of stolen property. You are to be the judge deciding her sentence. Before rendering your decision, review the goals of crime control in chapter 2. Explain which punishment best serves the offender and society. Explain what sentence you want to give Selina and why.
How might your preparation differ if you were presenting to the larger company, the board of directors of your company, or a group of shareholders at a large shareholder meeting?
Share one of the links to an Andy Bounds video you liked or found most interesting or compelling. Then respond to the following in a substantive post (3–4 paragraphs):
- How might you prepare for a presentation at work with people you work with every day on a project team?
- How might your preparation differ if you were presenting to the larger company, the board of directors of your company, or a group of shareholders at a large shareholder meeting?
- What tips did Andy Bounds share with you that changed the way you think about presentations? What did he affirm that you already knew?
- What value do you think the soft skill of being able to prepare and present PowerPoint slides to a project team brings to your career opportunities?
- Do you think it would be easier or more difficult to give a presentation during an online meeting, as opposed to an in-person meeting? Why?
Please respond substantively to at least one other post (1–2 paragraphs each post). Choose to respond to those who have few or no responses, as well as interesting conversations you want to join. Remember to get in early in the week for your initial post and then come back a few other times during the week for the best experience.
In your response to your classmate, consider the following (choose one or more):
- Watch one of the Andy Bounds videos that a classmate has posted. Compare it to the one you watched or one that you got off on a tangent with, and share your thoughts with your classmate on why they should also watch yours or why you liked theirs better.
- Comment on a classmate’s thoughts on doing presentations at work. What have you learned from what they said? Be specific and further the conversation with your comments.
- Respond to a classmate who finds public speaking difficult. Knowing we can’t allay someone’s fears of public speaking, what can we do to be supportive of someone whose work goes unrecognized because they don’t like to do presentations?

What amendments are required to the Act as more baby boomers age?
Discrimination in Employment Act
Age Discrimination in Employment Act
This assignment will help you understand the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of age for anyone over the age of 40. This kind of legislation, like other types of anti-discriminatory legislation, will not end all discrimination. However, such laws clearly state society’s values.
Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research about the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. Based on your research, create a 4- to 5-page paper in a Microsoft Word document that includes answers to the following questions:
- Which demographic groups are protected by this Act?
- Which types of discrimination are prohibited under the Act?
- Is the Act still relevant for seniors today? If yes, how? If not, why not? Provide examples.
- What amendments are required to the Act as more baby boomers age?
- Has this Act affected any of the minority groups in US? If no, why not? If yes, how?

Define the elements of a legal contract using examples from the scenario where applicable.
Touchstone: Did Jim and Laura Buy a Car?
SCENARIO: Jim and Laura Buyer visit the local car dealership because they are interested in buying a new car. The car they currently have is aging and is starting to have mechanical problems. Jim and Laura would share the new car, and use it to go back and forth to work and school. Before going to the dealership, Jim and Laura decide that they can only afford $400.00 a month in car payments. Once at the car dealership, Jim and Laura meet Stan Salesman. Stan shows them several vehicles and Jim and Laura test-drive several of the cars. Jim and Laura particularly like the blue 4-door sedan. Therefore, they agree to give Stan Salesman a $100.00 deposit to hold the car for a day. Stan Salesman does not give them the receipt but guarantees that the $100.00 is refundable. No documents were signed. The next day, Stan Salesman calls Jim and Laura to ask them when they would like to take delivery of the car. Jim and Laura, on the way home from the dealership, decided that they were not going to buy the car because they did not want to spend that money each month. Therefore, Jim and Laura tell Stan Salesman that they have decided not to buy the car and request their $100.00 deposit back. Stan insists that the $100.00 was a deposit on the car and was meant to be part of the contract to buy the car. Stan is very persistent and insistent that Jim and Laura have contracted to buy the car; therefore, the $100.00 will be applied to the purchase price of the car. Jim and Laura are shocked and angry as not only do they not want to spend the money, but now feel as though they are being duped by Stan Salesman. Jim and Laura have an appointment to see a lawyer in a few days, but know you are a student taking a business law class and come to you for advice. They are very frazzled, and understandably upset that they may have just purchased a car. Since you have been taking business law, you have read and understand the elements of a contract and the defenses to a contract. Therefore, although you are not a lawyer, you provide some basic advice from what you’ve learned in your business law class. ASSIGNMENT: In three to five (3-5) pages, advise Jim and Laura based on the above facts as presented and the material covered in the lessons. In your paper, be sure to address the following:
1. Define the elements of a legal contract using examples from the scenario where applicable.
2. Decide whether or not there was a contract for the purchase of the automobile.
3. Identify the facts from the scenario which support your decision on whether or not a contract exists for the purchase of the automobile.
4. Use at least two (2) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other websites do not qualify as quality academic resources.
In order to foster learning and growth, all essays you submit must be newly written specifically for this course. Any recycled work will be sent back with a 0, and you will be given one attempt to redo the touchstone.

determine how an EA could be used to help the DMV accomplish the objectives stated explicitly and implicitly in the case study.
Enterprise Architecture Justification Paper – Individual Assignment
Purpose of this Assignment
This assignment gives you the opportunity to apply your critical thinking skills and understanding of the course concepts to explain how the enterprise architecture (EA) and/or the EA program benefits an organization. This assignment specifically addresses the following course outcomes:
describe enterprise architecture (EA), the appropriate application of EA frameworks, and an overall ongoing EA program
analyze and examine how enterprise architecture and enterprise systems influence, support, and enable an organization’s ability to contribute to strategic decision making and to respond and adapt to the business environment
apply EA concepts to support business requirements and identify opportunities for enterprise solutions
Assignment
Using the DMV case study provided, determine how an EA could be used to help the DMV accomplish the objectives stated explicitly and implicitly in the case study. The organization discussed in the case study has many issues with its current environment and many changes that it wants to make. It has not established an EA program yet.
The purpose of your paper is to briefly explain what an EA program is, and then justify a recommendation to establish an EA program for the organization. The DMV has taken on the CSI Redesign initiative so this presents an opportunity to explore how EA can be a benefit. You need to orient this assignment to justify recommendations on how the DMV can benefit from implementing a more holistic (EA) solution. You can use the CSI redesign effort as a basis on which to build, but your recommendations for EA should scale sufficiently.
You should provide at least four specific examples from the case study to show how an EA program could be of benefit, and you should provide at least two examples of how EA specifically benefitted another organization in solving problems similar to ones in the case study. (NOTE: More than four examples are required to receive all possible points; see Grading Rubric below.) Your paper will be graded on both the accuracy and the strength of your justifications; it needs to make a strong and compelling case for establishing an EA program for the DMV.
Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length (not counting any cover sheet or reference pages). The use of at least two external scholarly resources (other than class materials) is required. (NOTE: More than two external resources are required to receive all possible points; see Grading Rubric below.) You should use scholarly journals (rather than Wikipedia and authorless website postings). If you need assistance with determining what a scholarly journal is, the UMUC library is a very good source of information, accessed via the following link: http://www.umuc.edu/library/libhow/articles.cfm. Remember to correctly cite and reference all sources using APA format.
Submit your paper in Word format via your Assignments Folder as an attached document with your last name included in the filename.
Describe a time when you participated in a project and how it was or could have been affected by cost and schedule.
In your own words, answer this unit’s discussion questions in a main post (recommended minimum 300 words)
Assignment Details
The importance of creating a plan is to ensure that the project goals are defined and met. Also, it is crucial to understand that projects are living activities—circumstances change, risks that previously identified become a reality, and obstacles that were not previously identified come to light. Those are only a few reasons why project plans need to adapt to changes in the project environment.
- Describe a time when you participated in a project and how it was or could have been affected by cost and schedule.
After posting your response, respond to at least 2 of your peers. When responding to your peers, reflect on your response. How is your project experience similar or different, and what knowledge can you gain from their shared experience?
