150 words.
- Review the four major categories of the cost of quality. Reflect upon the definition of each one and then answer the following questions:
- Which one will have the greatest impact for reducing overall quality costs? Why?
- Which one (in general) results in higher quality costs to the company?
- Relating to the fifth category, provide an example of a recent (within 10 years) event relating to ethical failure costs and the impact to the company.
- Discuss the differences between economies of scale and diseconomies of scale. What are factors that must be considered by an operation when considering economies of scale? How are the expansionist strategy and the wait-and-see strategy linked to economies of scale?

Describe a social theory that was discussed in the “Social Relationships and Health” journal article and indicate how it was used to support the research.
Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 of the course text, read the media piece Why Facebook Could Be Good for Your Health (Links to an external site.), read the journal article “Social Relationships and Health (Links to an external site.),” and watch the video Research Ethics Involving Human Subjects (Links to an external site.).
Now that the literature review has been completed, the text reading this week covers how important theories can be highlighted that will support your research topic. For example, particular groups may naturally link to known theories, such as feminist theory for women’s perspectives, or queer theory for perspectives from the LGBTQ community. The text also covers extensive writing tips in regard to scholarly writing which can help you reflect and develop your own scholarly writing in coursework that requires research. A third aim of the discussion is to touch on the integral aspect of preparation for performing research, ensuring you have considered the ethical concerns and protections for your research participants or subjects.
In your initial post, address the following:
- Describe a social theory that was discussed in the “Social Relationships and Health” journal article and indicate how it was used to support the research.
- Choose one of the quantitative research results presented in the article; describe the evidence presented and indicate which variables of the experiment were highlighted.
- Determine the article’s conclusion in regards to social relationships in society. Based on the accompanying media piece “Why Facebook Could Be Good for Your Health (Links to an external site.),” how could modern social media sites support the research findings in the journal article?
- The course text reading discussed how research can also use the transformative paradigm in social theory to impact social change. How does it do this and what types of societal populations can the transformative paradigm specifically impact?
- An important aspect of impactful research is that it should be disseminated through a scholarly document such as a research report or journal article. The author of the course text provides some helpful tips in scholarly writing. What tips did you find most useful to further develop your own scholarly writing in course work which requires research papers or a project?
- Lastly, a research study should always be ethically performed. According to the course text reading and your review of the video, “Research Ethics Involving Human Subjects (Links to an external site.)”, answer the following:
- The Belmont Report of 1979 established three ethical principles for research. Name the three principles and explain each principle.
- All Universities and Research Institutions are federally mandated to follow ethics guidelines in the research performed which include the principles of The Belmont Report of 1979 – name what this set of guidelines is commonly known as, and describe what it covers.
Your initial post should be at least 800 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references.
Do you believe that you now know everything you need to know about critical thinking – or is learning to think critically a life-long task? Explain your answer.
- critical Thinking
- Go back to your very first journal entry – review your definition of critical thinking. After studying critical thinking for the past eight weeks, would you change your definition in any way? If yes, how and why? If no – if it was perfect – what parts of the text were best reflected in your definition?
- Looking Forward
- Do you believe that you now know everything you need to know about critical thinking – or is learning to think critically a life-long task? Explain your answer.

Describe three (3) traditional file processing systems (FPS)
In modern times, but before the advent of widespread computing, elaborate database systems were developed by government offices, libraries (what is the Dewey Decimal System if not one of the most famous databases in history?), hospitals, and businesses. Some of the basic principles of these systems are still being used today in modern database software.
- Describe three (3) traditional file processing systems (FPS) – see hand-out
- Give an example of each file system that you just described; also explain how file sytems enhances information processing
Explain the (operational) difference between a traditional file systems and a database - Discribe at least two (2) ways that a database approach improves or mitigates the negatives of a FPS

What makes research writing different than ordinary information/observation writing?
Find a research article – Mobile technology preferred; but any technology topic is acceptable. A research effort is usually placed in the context of a “business problem” that can be understood in terms of carefully designed research questions; this allows for maximum research, understanding, and participation around resolving the problem.
Evaluation criteria – notice what specific research components (Title, Abstract, Method, etc.) are found in the article
- State the name of the article you found and that is being evaluated and who the author(s) is/are.
- What is this article about – talk about its context (what is the topic; its purpose, and significance to what/whom)?
- What components of a research format is included in this article?
- How does this format contribute to the purpose of the writing?
- Do the author(s) use this format in a way that furthers research – what other component(s), if any, might be helpful to that purpose?
Discuss the follow general guidelines in the course of evaluating:
- What makes research writing different than ordinary information/observation writing?
- Identify and explain major components of a research paper format.
- Why use peer-reviewed journals in research?
- Why are keywords used in the Abstract and during the Literature Review process?
- Why use/apply APA basic citation style in these writing assignments?
4-5 pages, Strict APA-7 citation format, 5 plus more peer reviewed references

Create a 10 question survey with quantitative variables (number) on a topic you are interested in.
Assignment Instructions
Gather and Analyze Data
You have been charged with creating a survey for your community! The community is interested in having you create a survey and present the results at the next town hall meeting.
In this project, students will:
Learn about quantitative variables.
- Learn to analyze data for measures of central tendency (mean, median and mode)
- Learn to create an effective presentation with real-world conclusions.
To complete this project you will:
Think of a problem within your community or workplace. The problem needs to be something others will have an interest in solving or will want to share reactions to.
- Create a 10 question survey with quantitative variables (number) on a topic you are interested in. Think of questions where 0 is dislike there is a scale to 4- like. Another way to do this is using 0-never, 1 sometimes, 2 frequently, and 3 always.
- Administer the survey to a minimum of 10 people.
- Analyze your data for the mean, median, and mode of each questions.
- Create a visual from this chapter: bar graph, box and whisker plot, histogram, stem and leaf plot. etc.
- Compile the information into a slide presentation, of at least 5 slides, to present at the next town hall. The presentation should present: the mean, median, and mode of each question, the visual of the data, and conclusions based on the statistics you found in the survey.

Contrast the differences between a stock dividend and a stock split.
Please respond to the following:
- Contrast the differences between a stock dividend and a stock split.
- Imagine that you are a stockholder in a company. Determine whether you would prefer to see the company that you researched declare a 100% stock dividend or declare a two-for-one split. Provide support for your answer with one real-world example of your preference.
From Proffesor:
For this question the main difference between stock dividend and stock split is that a dividend is normally a percentage to purchase more common shares for stakeholders whereas a stock split is two or more new shares for every existing share an investor holds. The shareholder does not pay any additional money. Dividends are also mostly done annually but many companies do not do them because small dividends create more paperwork, expenses, and bookkeeping problems. I would prefer stock split over dividend as it would make more shares and more affordable for those that want more as well as those that might now have been able to afford it otherwise. For example, Microsoft’s stock was almost $175 per share currently. If split I would have 2 shares and they would both value $87.50 meaning I have not lost anything. I can buy more and others that are not willing to spend over $100 per share can now invest as well. In the long run I will gain more money from a split. There are many other companies that each share cost way more for example Tesla. Currently Tesla’s stock price was almost $800 per share. Would you be more willing to buy stock in Tesla if it were to split? Or would you buy at its current price and hope for dividends at the end of the year? The following article provides a little more on stock split and stock dividends.
