Nursing Scope of Practice is a set of rules/laws and regulations that nurses are required to follow while practicing as nurses. These rules/laws and regulations help guide our practice and help protect the patient as well as the nurse. Each state has its own laws and regulations according to licensure type. According to (“What is scope of practice?”, 2022) “Scope of Practice refers to those activities that a person licensed to practice as a health professional is permitted to perform, which is increasingly determined by statutes enacted by state legislatures and by rules adopted by the appropriate licensing entity”.
As nurses we are responsible for practicing within our scope of practice, knowing how to access our scope of practice (Nurse Practice Act or BRN), and continuing our education to keep up with changes that occur in the current scope of practice so that we can provide our patients with safe and quality healthcare (Berg, 2022). If a nurse is asked to perform a duty/task that is not within his or her scope of practice the nurse should advise the practitioner/manager that they are unable to perform the duty/task as it does not fall within their scope of practice. If the nurse is unsure if the task falls within their scope, they should refer to the nurse practice act or the state board of registered nursing to review their scope of practice. Accepting or performing a task that is not within the nurse’s scope of practice can lead to patient harm as well as serious consequences for the nurse. Nurses who practice outside of their scope can lose their employment, face punitive damages, and possibly lose their license (Berg, 2022). As nurses, our main goal and focus should always be the patient’s safety and providing them with quality care. All healthcare providers should follow their scope of practice to provide the patient with the best possible care and enhance patient care outcomes. In my current position, I am employed as an LVN, and on several occasions, I have been asked to perform RN duties by other RNs, I just kindly remind them that I am employed as an LVN, and I am not allowed to perform RN duties at this time.

Please ensure that you read the instructions provided with these tasks carefully. You should also follow the advice provided in the Business Works Student User Guide. The Student User Guide provides important information for you relating to completing assessment successfully.
Assessment for this unit
BSBTWK503 Manage meetings describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage a range of meetings including overseeing the meeting preparation processes, chairing meetings, organising the minutes and reporting meeting outcomes.
For you to be assessed as competent, you must successfully complete two assessment tasks:
⦁ Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions – You must answer all questions correctly.
⦁ Assessment Task 2: Project – You must work through a range of activities and complete a project portfolio.
Assessment Task 2: Project Portfolio
Information for students
In this task, you are required to demonstrate your skills and knowledge by working through a number of activities and completing and submitting a project portfolio.
You will need access to:
⦁ a suitable place to complete activities that replicates a business environment including a meeting space and computer and internet access
⦁ your learning resources and other information for reference
⦁ Meeting Agenda template
⦁ Meeting Minutes template
⦁ Meeting Policy and Procedures
⦁ Project Portfolio template.
Ensure that you:
⦁ review the advice to students regarding responding to written tasks in the Business Works Student User Guide
⦁ comply with the due date for assessment which your assessor will provide

Activities
Complete the following activities:
⦁ Carefully read the following:
This project requires you to manage a meeting on two different occasions. You can engage in meetings with friends, colleagues or classmates – or you may have the opportunity to manage a real meeting/s in your workplace. This will depend on the way you are participating in this course. These meetings can be virtual meetings or they may be face-to-face meetings – you can decide along with your assessor what will work best for you.
Your meetings must run for a minimum of 30 mins but must not exceed 1 hour.
The second meeting can only be a follow-up meeting from the first meeting if a period of time has passed which has allowed for certain action items and tasks to be completed from the first one and there is activity to report on and discuss and further decisions and action items can be scheduled.
Vocational education and training is all about gaining and developing practical skills that are industry relevant and that can help you to succeed in your chosen career. For this reason, conducting real meetings will mean that you are applying your knowledge and skills in a relevant, practical and meaningful way!
Although these meetings can be simulated in the sense that they are not being held in an actual workplace – they need to be based on a real need with each meeting attendee contributing from their own ideas and opinions – not staged or scripted as this would never happen in the real world. Ideas for meetings you can arrange include:
⦁ WHS meeting in your classroom to discuss your college’s WHS procedures
⦁ A physical or virtual meeting between classmates to arrange and discuss the plans for an event or gathering (e.g. end of year workplace dinner)
⦁ A meeting to discuss and plan for a charity or sports sponsorship or event
⦁ A creative meeting to discuss concept development for a new project or idea
You will be collecting evidence for this unit in a Project Portfolio. The steps you need to take are outlined below. Before you begin, complete page 4 of your Project Portfolio.
Speak to your assessor to get approval for the meetings you want to manage prior to beginning your portfolio.
You need access to a meeting policy and procedure and agenda and minutes templates. Use the ones provided in the Simulation Pack for this unit if not basing this on a real workplace.
⦁ Plan your two meetings
Work through Section 1 of your Project Portfolio for this unit and plan out the two meetings you are going to manage.
During this stage you will need to access your organisation’s meeting policy and any associated procedures. If using the case study, you will find these documents in the Simulation Pack for this unit.
⦁ Finalise meeting preparation
Now that your planning is complete, you need to finalise the arrangements for your two meetings. You can schedule your meetings to run on the same day or different days if these meetings are being held at separate times and for different and distinct reasons.
During this step, you need to:
⦁ Develop and complete your agenda
⦁ Verify any meeting requirements with attendees or others (e.g. dietary requirements if catering is involved, suitable days and times of attendees etc.)
⦁ Send out meeting invites
⦁ Confirm attendance of all attendees
⦁ Distribute meeting papers
Tip: Take screen prints of your online calendar invites and keep copies of email communication during this step. You must provide all evidence outlined in your portfolio so it’s recommended you save it as you go.
Attach all relevant evidence as indicated in Section 1 of your Project Portfolio.
When you are happy with your planning, have checked and edited your work for accuracy, spelling and grammar, submit to your assessor for approval before proceeding to the next activity step.
⦁ Conduct your meetings
It’s now time to chair your meetings.
Prior to the meetings, you are required to brief the minute-taker on the method for recording the meeting notes. Remember to attach evidence of this in your portfolio in the relevant part of Section 2.
Your assessor will be looking to see that you:
⦁ Chair the meetings according to your organisational requirements and any agreed-upon conventions for the types of meetings you have organised
⦁ Follow all legal and ethical requirements as outlined in Section 1 of your portfolio
⦁ Promote participation, discussion, problem solving and resolution of issues during the meeting
⦁ Keep the meeting on track and within the allocated timeframes for each scheduled agenda item
⦁ Communicate effectively during the meeting, including:
⦁ Using relevant communication style, tone and vocabulary suited to the meeting context and participants
⦁ Speaking clearly and concisely
⦁ Using non-verbal communication to assist with understanding
⦁ Asking questions to identify required information
⦁ Responding to questions as required
⦁ Using active listening techniques to confirm understanding
This can either be viewed in person by your assessor, your assessor can view online via video conferencing software or you may like to video record the session for your assessor to watch later. Your assessor can provide you with more details at this step. Make sure you follow the instructions above and meet the timeframes as indicated in your meeting agenda and the timeframes in Step 1 above.
Attach the relevant attachments in Section 2 of your Project Portfolio.
⦁ Follow up
After the meetings are finalised, complete the following activities:
⦁ Review the minutes taken and edit as necessary
⦁ Distribute the final edited version to the meeting attendees as per meeting policy timeframes
⦁ Report on the outcomes of the meetings as per meeting policy timeframes
⦁ Store the minutes and any other meeting papers for follow up according to record-keeping requirements
⦁ Reflect on how you managed at least two routine problems you encountered when managing your meetings – record this in Section 3 of your Project Portfolio.
Complete Section 3 of your Portfolio and attach the relevant evidence as you work through these steps.
⦁ Submit your completed Project Portfolio
Make sure you have completed all sections of your Project Portfolio, answered all questions, provided enough detail as indicated and proofread for spelling and grammar as necessary.
Remember to check that all necessary evidence attachments are included.
Submit to your assessor for marking.

Relation of Cost and Perspective
Hi All,
Costs are also in the eye of the beholder. For example, to Marriott International, each hotel is a variable cost as it can be open or closed and few costs are fixed. To the manager of each hotel, most costs, though, are fixed with the only variable/controllable costs being related to guest services, food, and housekeeping. The change in perspective can change how we look at costs. Management as well as maintenance is viewed as a fixed cost from this perspective.
Should internal and external numbers be looked at the same by managers?

For anyone on the internet, social media influence happens whether we like it or not. On the ideal side of things, social media seeks to inform, entertain, and educate us. The challenge comes when choosing what content to interact with and which content to avoid. There are some tools and examples of situations when it has been helpful and when to use caution with internet marketing.
Positive social media influences
Social media can fuel social movements to take place or increase sales when done correctly. For example, Coors gave free beer to an over 90-year-old woman during covid (Referral Rock, 2021). This provided connection, an emotional aspect, and the generosity of a brand to establish connection and engagement. Something positive for a grandma asking for a beer can support an entire company.
Negative social media influences
Negative aspects to social media influences are focused on trust. Can the person receiving the content trust the content? While there can be an attempt to educate persons, there is a percentage of content aimed as misinformation. Misinformation can lead to fear, mistrust and increased in sharing inaccurate information (Drake, 2021). The goal would be to create content that could be shared and trusted. “In social media, it is all too common for someone to use a single source to make or back up an argument while disregarding all the other facts. That in turn leads to such a spread of misinformation,” (Sucio, 2020). Walden University even wrote a document with a link to an article about false claims of a Wisconsin voter fraud situation (Walden, 2022). Trust in content can lose followers.
Social media effectiveness
To make social media messaging effective, the user needs to first engage with it. We learned that video content allows a user to have two learning styles involved, visual and audio (Ahrefs, 2020). Appealing to multiple learning styles and skills can allow the consumer to feel more connected. Video can provide more learning faster and making a personal connection (Aherefs, 2020).
The other main topic would be to clearly define the target audience. This has been the focus for marketing from the beginning. However, for digital marketing you need to focus the target audience as video and social media populations. This population can help with the big three topics or objectives of (Ahrefs, 2020):
Brand awareness
Educational/Tutorial
Entertainment
Depending on the focus or guide, the duration of the video needs to be varied. For example, entertainment focus of engagement relies on longer content that uses the “tease the solution” aspect (Ahrefs, 2020). This makes me think of the advertisement from the ring doorbell. In this advertisement in August of 2015 the problem was burglary, and the solution was the ability to video with the person attempting to break in (Ring, 2015). This ad also makes me realize my own connection to brand relationship as we had this at our old house not the google doorbell. It was my familiarity with this product that made me select this advertisement versus the google option as an example for this class. The connection to a brand on any level I think is something that advertisers and marketing teams cannot overlook.

What is the difference between what you see in the ACFR and what you see in a corporate report?
Conduct an internet search to find an ACFR for your local government (city, county, etc.) or a local government that interests you. Then, craft an initial discussion post in which you answer the following:
- What is the difference between what you see in the ACFR and what you see in a corporate report?
- What are some reasons for the differences?
Explain why you believe or do not believe that exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule should be made.
Assignment Details
In 1961, the search of a residence of Dollree Mapp was done by police with no proper warrant to conduct the search. The search resulted in Mapp eventually being charged and found guilty of possession of pornography and sentenced to seven years in prison. Mapp appealed her conviction and it resulted in the Supreme Court reinforcing the Exclusionary Rule in their decision under the Fourth Amendment.
This video examines the Mapp v. Ohio case (The Federalist Society, 2020):
Using your reading assignment, the content above, and what you have learned about the Exclusionary Rule, answer the following questions:
- Explain why you believe or do not believe that exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule should be made.
- Select 3 exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule, and cite your reasons for their validity and any reason why the exceptions may be in error if you believe any of them are in error.

Explain the concept for admissibility of plain sight evidence.
Assignment Details
Plain Sight is one of the types of evidence seizure that is deemed to be an exception to the Exclusionary Rule. The Plain View Doctrine allows for the seizure of evidence by law enforcement if they do not have to search for it because it can be seen without any constructive movement on the part of the officers. The item observed must create probable cause that a crime was committed. The test is simple, if an officer is where he or she is legally and observed an item that provided probable cause, then that item may be seized as evidence and person(s) associated with the item may be arrested.
According to Staff Attorneys (2021) at the Legal Information Institute:
“Plain view doctrine is a rule of criminal procedure which allows an officer to seize evidence of a crime without a warrant when the evidence is clearly visible. This doctrine acts as an exception to the Fourth Amendment’s right to be free from searches without a warrant. Also referred to as clear-view doctrine or plain sight rule.”
This video provides a simple explanation of exceptions to the need for a warrant (LawShelf, 2020):
Scenario: Police are called to Bob Smith’s home as a result of a complaint from neighbors regarding the several large dogs that are constantly barking on his property. Bob lives in a residential neighborhood that has experienced significant change and new development in recent years. While his home is surrounded by a new planned development with matching homes and yards, Bob wouldn’t sell to the developers, so his property still looks like a farm with several buildings (a barn, a storage shed, and other outbuildings). The property is fenced, so Bob doesn’t feel the need to keep the dogs inside. They roam the property and bark at anyone and anything that passes the property, including most cars.
When the officers arrive to talk to Bob, he allows them through the gate and onto his property. While they are talking to Bob about the noise complaints, one officer notices a shed door is partially open, and what looks like a crate of weapons is visible. Officer Jones asks Bob, “What’s with the weapons?” and Bob says, “Those are old relics that I’ve collected.” However, Officer Jones doesn’t believe him and starts walking toward the shed. Bob lunges at Officer Jones and grabs at his gun. The two struggle for the weapon, and just as Bob pulls away with the gun, Officer Baker shoots Bob twice, once in the shoulder, and once in the chest, causing Bob to drop the gun and fall to the ground.
Officer Baker immediately calls for an ambulance, and Officer Jones begins applying pressure to Bob’s wounds and tells him, “Hold on. Help is on the way.” Bob thinks he’s not going to make it and decides that he wants a clear conscience as he moves on to whatever comes next. He tells the officers everything about the guns—where he got them, for what they were going to be used, and with whom Bob was planning his criminal conspiracy to engage in domestic terror by attacking a local rally on LGBT rights the following weekend.
Officer Baker thinks that they should search the other buildings on the property for additional weapons, but Officer Jones doesn’t think they have probable cause to do so. Baker argues that exigent circumstances allow them to conduct a broader search, especially with the first crate of guns in plain view. They do a search of the barn and other buildings on the property, except the main house, and discover two more crates of weapons.
The EMTs ended up arriving in time, and Bob was saved. He now stands trial along with two of his co-conspirators for illegal weapons charges, conspiracy charges, and domestic terrorism charges.
Bob’s defense counsel plans to argue that the plain view doctrine didn’t apply to this case and that everything discovered subsequently should be tossed. Additionally, they plan to argue that because Bob wasn’t actually dying, his dying declaration to the police officers wasn’t valid.
In a 3–4-page paper, address the following:
- Explain the concept for admissibility of plain sight evidence.
- What are the legal requirements for the officers to invoke a plain sight seizure?
- How does a dying declaration create an exigent circumstance in the context of this case?
- Do you believe the defendant’s arguments will be successful? Explain your reasoning.
Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.
