How does theory inform a research study?
Research serves as a guide by which to study, describe, and quantify an array of social and physical phenomenon. Theory, which is best described as a set of propositions or hypotheses that specify the relationship among a subset of variables, serves as a way of offering an intellectualized general commentary on that which is observed. Using material found in Chapter 3 of this weeks required reading, describe how theory is applicable to a research study. Answer the questions:How does theory inform a research study? How can a generalized theory remain timely enough to be applicable to new or innovative studies?Your initial post should be at least 400 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references.
What impact has there been, if any, on the publics perceptions and beliefs about criminal behavior and the impact on law enforcement investigations, prosecution and trials due to the use of psychological profiling?
Psychological profiling is not a new concept. It has been practiced for centuries and has been the foundation of popular fiction from Sherlock Holmes to Clarice Starling. TheSnook, Cullen, Bennell, Taylor, Gendreau(2008) andKocsis(2003) articles outline many of the preconceptions and misperceptions surrounding the field of forensic psychology as it is used in contemporary law enforcement. Television programs such asLaw and Order,NCIS,Criminal Mindsand theMentalisthave made psychological profiling a popular pastime. While the line between fact and fiction can often be thin and tenuous, the impacts that fiction and/or misinformation can have on reality can be enormous. What impact has there been, if any, on the publics perceptions and beliefs about criminal behavior and the impact on law enforcement investigations, prosecution and trials due to the use of psychological profiling? Are these impacts positive or negative? Provide an example from your review of a scholarly journal to support your discussion.
Do the six measurements present sufficient evidence to indicate that the average weight of the diamonds produced by the new process is in excess of 0.5 karat?
A new process for producing synthetic diamonds can be operated at a profitable level only if the average weight of the diamonds produced by the process is greater than 0.5 karat. To evaluate the profitability of the process, a sample of six diamonds was generated using this new process, with recorded weights .46, .61, .52, .48, .57, and .54 karat. Do the six measurements present sufficient evidence to indicate that the average weight of the diamonds produced by the new process is in excess of 0.5 karat? To answer this question conduct an appropriate test of hypothesis using the five step process outlined in our textbook and utilized in the solutions to the Chapter8 review problems, which can be accessed via the link in the Assignments, Tests Quizzes sub-section in the weekly lesson that can be found in the Lessons section of our classroom.I will evaluate your responses to each of these questions using a 0 to 10 point scale, and your contribution to each of the Discussion Forums will count as 1.25 percent of the overall course grade for a total of 10 percent. My evaluation of your post will be based on the extent to which you participated and fostered a positive and effective learning environmentfor yourself and others. Participating and sharing are the keys. Naturally, simply copying someone elses post is prohibited. Your post should reflect your understanding of the question posed. In addition tothe computations you employed to arrive at your response, your post must contain comments regarding the rationale for the approach you utilized. Simply listing an answer is of no real value in promoting a discussion.

Assess Keurigs business-level strategy. Has the companys business-level strategy been successful?
The attach file is the case study for the assignment.Read the Keurig case study located in the section titled Case Studies in your textbook concerning the following situation:This case describes a new product success story, set in a competitive business climate. Keurig was one of the companies to commercialize an innovative technology that allowed people to brew one cup of coffee at a time. Keurig was established in 1992. The word, Keurig, means excellence, and it has been the guiding principle behind its products and services. Keurig patented its single serve brewing system and first entered the office coffee service, or Away From Home (AFH), marketplace in 1998. In 2003, Keurig became one of the first to enter the At Home (AH) marketplace with a single serve brewing system designed for use in the home.By 2010, 25 percent of all coffee makers sold in the United States were Keurig branded machines. Keurig is regarded as a market leader. However, Keurig faces two major challenges. First, some patents of Keurigs key technologies are approaching the expiration date. Without the protection of the patents, Keurig can lose revenue from the K-Cup portion packs, thus reducing GMCRs coffee sales. Keurig can also lose royalties from other roaster coffee sales using Keurigs technology. The second challenge is the perceived environmental impact of the K-Cup portion packs. It will need to be addressed to prevent erosion of Keurigs position in the marketplace. An evaluation of Keurigs business-level strategy, competitive rivalry, and SWOT analysis will aid in the discussion and weighing of strategic options available to Keurig. The results of the analysis can then be used to establish and support a strong set of recommendations seeking to ensure a continuation of Keurigs strong performance and top market position.Assess Keurigs business-level strategy. Has the companys business-level strategy been successful? How does Keurigs strategy stand up against competitive rivalry in the industry?Review the important elements of Keurigs external and internal environments. Analyze key factors in the SWOT analysis.Evaluate Keurigs s international strategy and its use of alliances to achieve company objectives.Weigh the challenges confronting Keurig. What are the greatest risks for Keurig? What recommendations can be made to support Keurigs growth and profitability objectives?Submission Details:Present your analysis as a 34-page report in a Microsoft Word document formatted in APA style.Support your responses with examples.
