Rhetorically Comparing Texts
y approved topic: How book publishing has changed in the digital-age, Traditional publishing vs Self-publishing.
1. To start, you will find two credible sources on the approved topic. The two sources should be different from each other in terms of at least one of the following: audience, purpose, genre. For example, you can find a persuasive source and an informative source (that would be two different purposes); or you can find a source that’s written for scientists and one that’s written for a general audience. However, both should be written texts (do not use videos or other media).
2. Summarize each of the sources and discuss how their arguments compare: What do they agree on? How did they build on each other? What did you learn from one source that you didn’t learn from the other source? Which do you think was most useful to helping you understand the topic and why? Was that related to the information included, or the way that information was “packaged”?
3.
Analyze the rhetorical choices made by each text, paying particular attention to how the sources are different from each other. You’ll want to consider how they are different (in terms of audience, purpose, and genre), what stylistic choices they make, and how their differences shape how these texts can participate in the conversation. Please use specific examples from the text to support your analysis. Your answer for the rhetorical analysis section should be at least 300 words long.

Education & Teaching Question
Prior to completing this assignment, it is imperative that you read all information that is provided in this module. Review the powerpoint and take notes on the information that is provided. After completing the reading assignments, you will be familiar with the information that is required to complete this assignment.
1. Save this Tools of Literacy Assignment Outline as a word-processing document (e.g., Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Microsoft Works, etc.) to your desk top, flash drive or hard drive.
2. Identify examples of each of the tools of literacy listed below that are found in the family literature stories in this module.
3. Open the document that you have saved
4. Type the examples that you identified into the appropriate category on the tools of literacy assignment sheet.
5. Then, for each of the eight tools of literacy,
write one new example or interaction that is not found in the stories. Make sure that these examples could occur during everyday activities that infants and toddlers experience. They may occur outside the home, in the car, or in places in the community. Use examples from your own experience or use the family stories to imagine new ways for adults to intentionally use each of the eight tools of literacy.
For this assignment, you will have a total of at least two examples of tools of literacy for each of the categories. (one example from the story and the other is a new example or interaction that is not found in the stories)
Psychology Question
Write a reflection paper about the provided article, using the sample paper I’ve attached as a reference to how it’s supposed to look. Reflection Paper assignments (RPs), as the name implies, will require you to reflect upon and think critically about the assigned reading and present those thoughts in a logical, well organized, and concise manner. Communicating your ideas clearly will, of course, require proper grammar and correct spelling. (Grammar and spelling errors detract greatly from the points the writer is attempting to make.) The papers will be written in APA style (double-spaced with one inch margins all around; see OWL at Purdue or other reputable resources regarding APA Style), and will be approximately one-and-a-half to two pages long. Please be as concise as possible, while still clearly expressing your arguments. (Longer is not necessarily better.) Papers must be submitted in MS Word. Please adjust the line-spacing on Word in line with APA Style. Title and reference pages are required (abstracts are neither required nor permitted). No ‘outside’ sources are permitted.

NSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment, you will choose your own sounds and create an original collage! Here are the requirements:
- You may use any sounds, including sounds you record yourself, samples you download online, or sounds you create with Soundtrap instruments or loops, as long as you do not use long samples (i.e. more than roughly 10-15 seconds) or use loops that repeat for long periods of time. In other words, even though you now have more freedom to choose, we still want to continue the idea used in previous assignments: You must create an original collage through combining different sounds, not simply paste in long samples or loops to fill up the space.
- Duration must be between 40 seconds and 2 minutes.
- As with past collages, you must submit a written document that summarizes the editing steps you used, and any other information that helps us understand the work you put into it. Please also indicate there whether you are willing to have your work shared by the instructor and, if so, whether or not it should be anonymous.
PEER REVIEWS
As usual, once the due date passes, you will be assigned 2 peer reviews.
GRADING CRITERIA
To earn a grade of Complete, the Sound Collage must meet the criteria listed in the 3 bullet points in the instructions above, must reflect thoughtful editing, and must be submitted (both text and audio) by the deadline in the proper format.
