For this assessment, you will develop a 3-5 page paper that examines a safety quality issue in a health care setting. You will analyze the issue and examine potential evidence-based and best-practice solutions from the literature as well as the role of nurses and other stakeholders in addressing the issue.

Health care organizations and professionals strive to create safe environments for patients; however, due to the complexity of the health care system, maintaining safety can be a challenge. Since nurses comprise the largest group of health care professionals, a great deal of responsibility falls in the hands of practicing nurses. Quality improvement (QI) measures and safety improvement plans are effective interventions to reduce medical errors and sentinel events such as medication errors, falls, infections, and deaths. A 2000 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report indicated that almost one million people are harmed annually in the United States, (Kohn et al., 2000) and 210,000–440,000 die as a result of medical errors (Allen, 2013).

The role of the baccalaureate nurse includes identifying and explaining specific patient risk factors, incorporating evidence-based solutions to improving patient safety and coordinating care. A solid foundation of knowledge and understanding of safety organizations such as Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN), the Institute of Medicine (IOM), and The Joint Commission and its National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) program is vital to practicing nurses with regard to providing and promoting safe and effective patient care.

You are encouraged to complete the Identifying Safety Risks and Solutions activity. This activity offers an opportunity to review a case study and practice identifying safety risks and possible solutions. We have found that learners who complete course activities and review resources are more successful with first submissions. “Remember, you fly an airplane with your head, not your hands and feet.” Flights are common these days especially among travellers though they have lots of advantages and disadvantages.

On the one hand, Flights are sometimes advantageous. In the first place, they are considered the fastest means of transportation. They also enable you to travel to any country without being affected by any physical barrier.

On the other hand, flights also have some cons that result in some fatal problems like to global warming. These harmful emissions from planes affect the environment and people badly.

Last but not least, any problem must have some solutions.Firstly, we can invent new planes that produce less emissions, use fuel economically, or use bio fuel that is available and less harmful. This, of course, leads to and better environment for any living creature.

Photos must depict subjects related to agriculture or the life sciences. Be creative and seek a variety of subjects for your portfolio. Concentrate on creating photos with a clearly defined subject using the compositional methods specified in each assignment. The assignments can be completed with a smartphone or camera. Use your favorite app to convert photos from color to black and white. Photos submitted must be the original work of the student.

Submit your photo portfolio as a PowerPoint presentation. Include a slide with an interesting title for your portfolio and your name. Include a slide for each photo assignment. Darwin Vs. Hobson

In the “Origin of Species”, by Charles Darwin, he explains the theory of Natural Selection or Survival of the Fittest. This theory states that only the strongest ones, those that can deal with changes in environment or food availability, for example, are the ones that will survive. This means that Nature is wise enough to only allow for a limited number of organisms living at a time, otherwise the Earth would be overpopulated. Darwin also explains that this theory works given random changes or variability and compares it with how men methodically select or make choices that would benefit him. Similarly, J.A. Hobson, in “Imperialism”, explains how those who are in the government take advantage and make political choices based on how these would affect them and their social and economic status, while these decisions should be based on how they would affect a nation and its people. Hebson also contrasts Darwin’s theory of evolution when he explains how men evolved from making political decisions for the good of a nation to making these decisions for their own personal good, following an impulse and not reason.  Darwin’s theory is a disadvantage for European Imperialism because it explains how whenever there is variation or changes in an environment (whether it is natural or political), changes can result that make organisms more fit to survive in this new environment. However,  in Imperialism, changes are only being made to benefit a small portion of society. For example, when the British invaded other countries and beat the natives living there, these natives might have developed (modified) ideas or ways in which they could survive despite of the intruders.

In this student interpretation of world civilization the goal is to discover a common theme that connects the different historical periods and civilizations discussed in the various readings and documentaries.
