GEO 101 CSUGC River Trinity the Longest River Discussion Responses
Please respond:POST1:The five Great Lakes, Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario are a chain of deep freshwater lakes that border Canada and United States. These lakes are one of the Earth’s greatest features with a combined area of 94,250 square miles which is the world’s largest surface of fresh water, amounting to 18 percent of the world’s supply. The lakes connect to each other from Lake Superior into Lake Huron with an off shoot into Lake Michigan. Lake Huron empties into Lake Erie and continues into Lake Ontario eventually leading to the St. Lawrence River eastward to the Gulf of St. Lawrence into the Atlantic Ocean. My apologies for the geography lesson, let us backtrack to Lake Erie and a very well-known river, the Niagara River.Lake Erie and Lake Ontario are connected by the meandering Niagara River which has an aggregate basin of 260,000 square miles. The Niagara flows in a northerly direction for approximately 35 miles and is a physical boundary between the United States and Canada. The river has an aggressive flow and steep gradient flow of 326 feet, making it one of the best sources of hydroelectric power in North America. Both countries use the waters from the Niagara River for drinking, recreation, fishing, industrial, municipal effluents, and hydro-power generation. An interesting fact about the hydro-power generation is contained in a treaty between Canada and the U.S. dated 1950, referred to as the “1950 Niagara Treaty.” (Niagara Parks, 2020). The treaty regulates the flow over the Niagara Falls stating that it cannot be less than 2,832 cubic meters per second during April 1st to September 31st. In addition, the flow shall not fall below 1,416 cu m/s.The river’s name originates from the Onguiaahra tribe. The French explorers gave the Indians the name “neutral” because of their disposition as peacekeepers between the Huron and the Iroquois tribes. The translation of the Indian name means Thunder of Waters. During the early years, the river was of great importance to the fur trade.Of course, the Niagara River is home to one of the seven wonders of the world, Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is a major tourist attraction on both sides of the border, with many daredevils having tried to barrel ride the falls or aerialists, such as the Flying Wallendas. In 2012, Nik Wallenda was the first man to complete an aerial walk across the falls. On a personal note and not trying to be biased, the Canadian side of the falls is extremely breathtaking. It is a favorite among honeymooners, including my husband and I. We honeymooned there and have returned several times over the years, and a special weekend for our 25th. POST2:The Trinity RiverThe Trinity River in Dallas, Texas and surrounding areas is a meandering river. This river runs 710 miles and is considered the largest river in the area. Its name came about in 1690, by Alonso de Leon, and explorer that led expeditions from Mexico and South Texas. Alonso de Leon called the Trinity River La Santisima Trinidad, which means the most Holy Trinity. Trinity River rises into 3 branches: East fork, Elm fork, County which flows 78 miles south. The East fork runs through Collin, Rockwall, Dallas, and Kaufman Counties were it meets the West fork in the Southwestern part of Kaufman County. The Wlm fork rises through Montaque County and runs southeast 85 miles through Cooke and Denton counties. The West fork rises in ArcherCounty and moves southeast 180 miles through Jack, Wise, Tarrant counties. The Clear fork of the Trinity runs through Parker northwest 45 miles until it joins the West fork along with cental Tarrant county near Ft. Worth. The Trinity River is the longest river that runs throughout Texas. The most disastrous flood on record was in 1908, there were much damaged reported, and reservoirs have been put into place to control flooding in many other areas. During the Colonial Period of Texas, settlers used the Trinity River to bring supplies, dry goods to the early settlers. Cotton, sugar, and other goods that were produced in Dallas, and surrounding areas used the Trinity to transport their goods to other areas. Also during this time, there were slaughterhouses along the banks of the Trinity River, and with the rapid population in Dallas, the river has a history of quality water challenges. I live in Kaufman county, and when I drive by the Trinity River, I can smell sewage but people are fishing down those banks every chance they get.
CU Business Data Visualization Discussion Responses
Reply for below 2 posts:Data Visualization refers to the pictorial representation of data using visual tools like graphs, tables, pie charts, maps etc. This process enhances the efficiency in understanding and processing it. Histogram: Mapping data to the source on the graphical space for better understanding (laerd, 2018). These graphs represent wide amount of data over a period of time. It can be constructed on both continuous and discrete variables. The product gives the response by calculating the frequency and reason for occurrence. Histogram gives a better visualization of data as it depicts the changes in trends over a period of time. Histogram give easy understanding of underlying data and trends following it. When compared to other visualization tools, Histogram gives a better representation of data unlike graphs and pie charts which just give the info rather than comparison.Compound Visualizations is the process of cementing of different graphical compounds into a single state representation. Moving down the exact definitions of a graph to a simple structure make visualization more intractable and knowledgeable.Life-Cycle diagram: Life cycle diagram covers all phases of the product life. It starts at product initial discussions, introduction, growth, maturity and goes until the decline stage (Chou, 2019). The 5 stages of the product life cycle are common stages which can be applied to any business. This concept is applied gives a better picture of a product performance during several stages of implementation and utilization. Life-cycle diagram has a better compound visualization as it is the result of a product performance representation during all stages of it when compared to other compound visualization methods which have complex representation and vague information on the trends. Data Visualization and one Compound Visualization by placing your mouse cursor over each option. Provide your classmates with a brief description of your choices and explain why you made your choices. Also, describe what advantages do your choices have over the others.Data visualization represents quantitative data such as the information which can be measured with numbers, such data is presented in the form of Pai chart, Line chart, Scatter plot, Histogram, etc. It structures the data in a systematic format to provide a clear picture of the situation, which can make the comparison easy and help in taking better decisions. On the other hand, Compound visualization is using different graphical representation formats such as Cartoon, Knowledge map, and Learning map, etc. along with quantitative data in one single frame to represent complex data.An example of Data visualization, I chose pie charts because is it simple and easy to understand. A pie chart is two-dimensional circle which is divided into slices to represent data. A complete chart represents the sum of all its data and each slice represents the percentage of the whole chart. There are several advantages of Pie chart over other charts and graphs, it is simple and easy-to-understand picture. Secondly, it can be beneficial to audience who are uninformed about the entire situation as pie chart represents data as fractions of entire data. Audience who is not aware of whole situation with numbers, can also get an idea with just once glance over the picture. Additionally, readers do not have to measure and examine the underlining numbers to understand the what information is being conveyed. In addition, I chose cartoon as an example of compound visualization because it can be used to represent data such as interactions or exchange of conversation to explain a process or convey a message in simple format. Cartoons are most widely used form in the internet as they follow a schema which can be instantly recognized by the audience. The message is shown in the speech bubble of each character and often with a punch line at the end.Although cartoons can be used to address the serious subjects such a political situation, they may also be used to show the tone of voice using the appropriate infographics and showcase various emotions in the image. Unlike other forms, cartoons can also be used to convey the information by sharing in an entertaining way.
SU The Importance of Understanding the Scope of A Project Discussion
1) DISCUSSION POSTMany of you may believe that you have never worked in project management, but in reality, most of you have already at some point in your life. Think back to a time when you organized a key event (e.g., birthday parties, weddings, yard projects, house renovations, family vacations, projects at work) that meets the definition of a project. 2) PEER REVIEW #2 (STACEY)Hey, Professor Dr. William Stieber and my fellow classmates,The only thing that I can think of as of right now is when I planned my wedding and it turned out the great just like I wanted it to, even though it was a small wedding with just family and a few friends. The food was great and everything just turned out so great, as well! I had to send out the invitations and everything, which turned out fine and then we all had to do the ceremony, too, which turned out amazing, as well! Plus, I had to order the cake and it sure was a fine cake, too! The wedding was not a wedding that had a lot planning and such things that usually go with a wedding because it was basically walking down the aisle, and saying our vows to one another, as well. It was just a plain and small wedding as I have stated before. Also, there is something that should be known about project management and that is when you are doing project management, there is a difference between everyday tasks and routine operations, as well. I made this statement because in the discussion question it states to reference some key skills from the chapter. Understanding why project management is so crucial in the real world is also important, as well, and there are also stages in the project management cycle, too. You also have to be able to manage the technical parts that come with project management, as well, and if you do not then you will not be that successful when it comes to doing project management. Lawyers, accountants, administrators, scientists, contractors, public health officials, community advocates, and teachers all do not have the titles of project managers, but they all can manage and handle project management quite well, though. This is what the webtext for this class states, as well, and I would have to say that I agree with it, too. I also agree with the statement that the webtext says about project management not being a title, but a job requirement, though because you have to be able to handle and manage things like this in the real world no matter what your job title is. Have a nice and blessed rest of week number one and God bless! Thank you all a lot for reading!3) PEER REVIEW #2 (HEATHER)I recently finished a project at work that launched this past Friday. I am off from work until Wednesday, so I am eager to see how it is going when I return. My project was to create a new efficient process for pharmacists in North Carolina to apply for credentials with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina for them to become an approved medical provider for the third-party insurance plan. Managing this process is already part of the day-to-day operations that I support. However, the reason why this was different and considered a project is because when my project reached completion, a new process existed. The existing process is antiquated and tedious, so I needed to make some process improvements to improve communications and reduce the overall time utilized operationally on this portfolio in the future. Furthermore, I utilized resources beyond the typical resources necessary for standard operations. I think overall the project went well, but there was one road bump along the way that was unexpected. Some of the wins, I was able to successfully work cross-functionally to develop the plan and receive the support from others involved. I learned to use new technology in my workplace. The road bump I mentioned that I experienced was related to the time budget I had. Since I needed the program to be ready to launch for this past Friday, I was expecting to work on the majority of the tasks during Christmas week and New Years week because we typically expect those days to be slow for our day-to-day operations due to so many people both internal and external taking time out of work for holiday and travel. However, we were very busy on Christmas Eve and I didnt have the opportunity to work on my project as I expected, which set me back a day. I was worried about not meeting my timeline, but I was able to flexibly move my schedule around to make up for the time lost and the project still launched on time.
UO Marketing Medical Beauty Equipment Blue Oceanic Strategy Report
The product I draw is medical beautyThe original intention of these pictures is that people are increasingly pursuing beauty in order to meet people’s needs. A large number of medical cosmetic equipment appears on the market. But the quality is not good or bad. Makes it difficult for consumers to choose. In this regard, we think about how to better attract consumers to buy products.Medical beauty equipmentMarketing (price) Before:With the increase of the level of “consumer consumption”, the market of medical cosmetology has gradually been explored. The medical beauty market is becoming more and more popular, especially every yearLight people, but the high medical project has allowed many young people to bear huge pressure for many years, which has affected other people’s quality of life. ? And medical equipmentThe price of equipment is not uniform. Without government supervision, there are problems such as excessive marketing and channel kidnapping. After:The government has strengthened management and supervision. The introduction of laws and regulations on the price standards of medical and aesthetic industry equipment has enabled consumers to understand the correct information of the medical and aesthetic industry and avoid being cheated by non-defective merchant products. In addition, a series of discount measures are implemented for medical beauty products to attract consumers to purchase.ConfidentialityBefore:The brand of medical beauty products is complicated. The packaging of the product has no privacy protection for the buyer. After:Upgrade the packaging of medical beauty products, so that the products are better placed in the packaging, to prevent people from seeing what products they buy.Protected consumer privacyAfter-sales service (consumer service) BeforeDue to the low threshold and relatively chaotic phenomenon in the medical beauty industry, there are many illegal organizations, illegal medical practices, and black intermediaries. Vicious incidents that harm consumers’ rights and interests still occur from time to time.AfterThe formal medical and aesthetic industry staffs provide online and offline services to consumers. Establish an online consultation platform suitable for consumers’ habits. The main functions include online questioning, expert consultation, service display, etc. The purpose is to provide consumers with core services. Provide free repairs for the sold medical beauty products, so consumers can buy with confidence.
MTH 122 CSUGC The Choice of Quadratic Equation Discussion Responses
Please respond:POST1:The quadratic equation is used to describe the relationship between objects that are thrown and how long it takes to hit the ground. In spirit of playoffs, I decided to determine how long a punt takes to hit the ground. As I discovered in combing through ways of finding relevant information, the science of a punt is pretty fascinating. For instance, using a right triangle you can determine the necessary angle for a kick to account for distance. That is a function by itself. For this discussion I will just focus on the quadratic equation to determine how long the average punt takes to hit the ground. This would be relevant to know because members of a special team should be able to cover this distance before the ball hits the return man.The formula_y=-4.9t^2+V0(t)+H0 where -4.9t^2 is the constant of gravity, V0 is the initial velocity in Meters/Second and H0 is the starting height. This formula is created due to the effect of the football traveling in a parabola. When the ball is first kicked it travels upward. Starting from the initial launch, the effect of gravity begins to counteract the initial velocity, eventually causing the football to fall. The actual function output is height.Y=-4.9t^2+39.2t+2.45Solving by factoring: I don’t like this method. It usually doesn’t work to solve complex equations.Solving by completing the square_y=-4.9t^2+39.2t+2.45-4.9t^2+39.2t+2.45=0-2t^2+16t+1=0-2t^2+16t+1=0 put into the form t^2+2at+a^2+b-2(t^2-8t+16-.5-16)=0-2(t-4)^2-.5-16=0-2(t-4)^2-16.5=0(t-4)^2=-16.52/2 t= +/-(?16.52+4)/2t=8.062t=-0.062In this case, total time is equal to 8.062 seconds when the ball lands (ignoring -0.062 because it isn’t relevant)Solving using the quadratic equation_y=-4.9t2+39.2t+2.45 we set the equation equal to 0 and divide by negative like terms and to give us whole and positive term value 0=2t^2-16t-1Using the quadratic formula we plug in the values of a, b and ct=(-(-16)^2 +/-?(-16)2-42(-1)22)/2*2Solving this equation we get the same answers: t=-0.062 and t=8.062I like completing the square and quadratic formula because they are similar and allow to manipulate numbers that don’t necessarily factor easilySource:Quadratic Applications: Projectile Motion (n.d). Retrieved from POST2:Over the weekend, I went on a canoe trip. I spent the morning traveling upstream and the afternoon traveling downstream. Overall, I spent 4 hours traveling 10 miles. I know that the stream I was canoeing flows at 3 MPH. Now I need to find out at what speed I traveled. (distance upstream/speed current) + (distance downstream/speed + current) = 4 hours(10 / x -3) + (10 / x+3) = 4 hours10 (x+3) + 10 (x-3) = 4 (x+3)(x-3)10x + 30 + 10x 30 = 4(X^2 9)20X = 4x^2 9F(x) = 4x^2 20x 9Quadratic Formula:X = (-b +/- ?(b^2-4ac)) / 2aX = (-(-20)+/- ?(-(-20)-4(4)(-20))) / ((2)(4))X = (20 +/- ?(400 + 144))) / 8X = (20 +/- ?(544))/8X = 5.41X = -0.41Therefore, since I cannot travel at a negative speed, I traveled at 5.41 MPH.Completing the square:4x^2 20x 9 = 0(4/4)x^2 (20/4)x (9/4) = (0/4)X^2 -5x (9/4) = 0X^2 5x = (9/4)X^2 5x + (25/4) = (9/4) + (25/4)(X (5/2))^2 = (34/4)X (5/2) = +/-?(17/2)X = (5/2) +/- ?(17/2)X = 5.41X = -0.41Overall, I preferred to use the quadratic formula. I found that it was easier for me to plug numbers into a formula versus what I saw as a massive amount of work by completing the square.
PHI 445 AU Ledbetter v Goodyear Tire and Rubber Objections Essay
In the Week 3 Assignment, you engaged in a case analysis of a current business problem using some of the components of an argumentative essay. In this written assignment, you will write a complete argumentative essay as described in Sections 9.1 and 9.2 of With Good Reason: A Guide to Critical Thinking (Foster, Hardy, & Zúñiga y Postigo, 2015). This essay will include a revised and polished version of your Week 3 Assignment, an objection to your thesis, a rebuttal, and concluding remarks. In order to benefit the most, you should start working on your Final Project from the time you receive your Week 3 Assignment back with comments from your professor.Your assignment should include the following: A revision of your Week 3 Case Analysis Assignment. Your revision should represent a substantial edit of your work that fully incorporates feedback from your professor and goes well beyond correcting any grammatical or APA errors. The strongest possible objection to your thesis. After the final paragraph of your Week 3 Case Analysis Assignment, start a new paragraph that introduces the strongest possible objection to your thesis. The considerations for this are detailed in Section 9.2 of With Good Reason: A Guide to Critical Thinking (Hardy, Foster, & Zúñiga y Postigo, 2015). Make sure to employ the appropriate language to introduce the objection, such as some may object to my thesis as follows or according to [so and so] the thesis presented here fails to account for X [whatever he or she finds problematic]. You can find other language to do this, of course, but the key point here is to make sure that you indicate that someone else is speaking when presenting this objection. It is also important to remember that you do research to discover good objections and not merely objections that are weak and thus easily rebutted. Look for peer-reviewed journal articles in the Ashford University Library, full-text articles in Google Scholar, or articles in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. Present the opposing position fairly and in detail. This may take more than one paragraph.A rebuttal. This is a refutation of the objection that you have just presented. Start this in a new paragraph following the objection paragraph(s). Once again, follow the indications of Section 9.2 of With Good Reason: A Guide to Critical Thinking (Hardy, Foster, & Zúñiga y Postigo, 2015). You may point out an error in the objection. Or you may show that, while it is an important objection, it does not apply squarely to your argument, or does not account for facts that make it irrelevant. Above all, make sure to maintain philosophical decorum in your rebuttal. Toward this end, you should apply the principles of charity and of accuracy, first introduced in the Week 1 course material. See Confronting Disagreement in Section 9.4 of With Good Reason: A Guide to Critical Thinking (Hardy, Foster, & Zúñiga y Postigo, 2015).Closing remarks. End your argumentative essay with a paragraph of closing remarks. Provide some reflections of what you have attempted to achieve by means of your essay. You could, for example, explain how your essay sheds light on the broader controversy that it addresses. Or you could point out how your essay addresses a frequently ignored point or the unpopular side in the controversy. You could also reflect on the related matters in the broader controversy that would be useful to examine by others. Do not merely summarize what you have done in the body of your essay, and do not add new information here that would support or contradict your essay since the body of your essay should have addressed all the relevant points. See Closing Your Essay in Section 9.2 of With Good Reason: A Guide to Critical Thinking (Hardy, Foster, & Zúñiga y Postigo (2015).
PJM 380 CSUGC The Definition of Scope Control Discussion Responses
Please respond:POST1:Scope ControlScope control in managing projects is a very important process since it is used to accomplish a project while still sustaining the project requirements and meeting the overall project goals. According to the Project Management Institute (2017), control scope is the process of monitoring the status of the project and product scope and managing changes to the scope baseline; the key benefit of this process is that the scope baseline is maintained throughout the project. When scope control is not being managed efficiently is when scope creep can occur. Scope creep is defined as uncontrolled expansion to product or project scope without adjustments to time, cost, and resources (Project Management Institute, 2017). To make certain project scope changes are controlled effectively, there are processes and tools and techniques that can be utilized such as data analysis, work performance information, change requests, project management plan updates and project document updates.Change Requests ProcessAccording to PMI (2017), the change control is the process of reviewing all change requests; approving changes and managing changes to deliverables and to communicate the decisions. Projects that have an extremely tight schedule and can easily go over budget is when the change control process is even more relevant and should be used. However, if a change is made then a formal change request process should be utilized to ensure the full understanding of the impact of the change is understood by all parties. Once approved, updated costs, schedule and baseline should be established and communicated. Project Change Management Process Steps (Billows ,2019):Step 1: As the project manager, you receive a change order request. The first step is always to see if the situation can be resolved with corrective action that would not change the project plan or any of its components.Step 2: If corrective action fails or is not an option, you analyze the change order request. You document each of the items listed above and make your recommendation for approval or rejection of the request. You should complete the analysis in a timely manner and include quantification of the impact of the change on the project scope, budget, duration, etc. as detailed above.Step 3: You forward your analysis of the change order request to the project sponsor with your recommendation for approval or rejection of the request.Step 4: The sponsor decides whether to approve or reject the change order request and the consequences. You document the result.Step 5: If the sponsor approves the change request, you implement it by changing the project budget, schedule and scope as necessary. Then you alter the team member assignments to reflect the changes. You follow these same steps for all change order requests.Step 6: You should archive the change order request and all supporting documentation. This information is invaluable for handling future requests.Change Request Example:If I were a project manager and had to update the project baseline multiple times then I would follow the project change management process. Following this process means that changes that do occur to the baseline project plan are thoroughly explored and are needed to produce the agreed project constraint and deliverables. According to Billows (2019), you should never allow stakeholders to make changes to team members assignments, the specifications of deliverables, or to add new deliverables or tasks without going through the change management process. By following this requirement is also preventing scope creep. A project managers job is to not prevent changes to the project. However, as an alternative the project managers try their best to come up with more reasonable ways of performance that leads to improvement on a project. In addition, adding extra requests on a project can raise the projects time and budget constraint, which means the project manager will either need to prolong the deadline and assign extra personnel to work on the project. In the long run, keeping an eye on scope changes allows you to communicate any changes more quickly and make any necessary corrections in advance so that your project does not get off course.POST2:Scope control and the function of it is one of the key factors to a project, and can be the difference between success of the project and the failure of a project. The lack of scope control is one of the most common and main causes to the failure of a project. Chuck Millhollan (2008) states that “the four top causes for project failure are: Poor or incomplete requirements, Scope creep, A lack of a structured project management methodology, and the Lack of change control.” So what is Scope Control? The PMBOK (2017) guide defines scope control as “the process of monitoring the status of the project and product scope and managing changes to the scope baseline. The key benefit of this process is that it allows the scope baseline to be maintained throughout the project.” Some change throughout a project is inevitable, and some changes are going to have to happen regardless of how solid the scope is. Being able to control the change and potential scope creep, however, is the important task, and can potentially decide the overall success of the project. There are tools to aid project managers with taking on change, and being able to make the best of it, and come out ahead of any more throughout the projects life cycle. Martinelli and Milosevich (2016) identified four tools and techniques that assist project managers and the task of scope control and they are project scope control system, project change request, project change log, and project scope control decision checklist. The Project Scope Control Decision Checklist is one arguably one of the more important techniques as it discusses and gives visual representation by listing out if the project and the change being requested is worth considering. Along with that, it covers multiple areas of the project as it identifies the responsibility for the change, the impact of change on the project schedule or budget, and the needed resources or approvals necessary to implement the change (Martinelli, 2016). I have used a project scope control decision checklist, but in a more simple manner, while planning construction projects in the Army. The way that it is handled is a less formal manner, but is consistent with the checklist that is shown in the PMBOK. As more of a risk assessment, it covers the questions of potential strengthening of a project, the pros and the cons of the change, the timeliness if implemented, alternatives, and overall risks to personnel, equipment and job site infrastructure.
Data Economic Analysis Report Paper
Learning Goal: I’m working on an economics report and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.Economic Analysis ReportI need an outline and a source of data analysis before I can confirm the next step. The research paper topic must be meaningful and relevant to economics and business.A. General IdeasFrom your internship experience, create a hypothesis that relates two or more variables, and test your hypothesis statistically based on actual data from your internship job, and discuss the implications of the analysis. You need to know how to perform regression analysis and how to interpret the regression results (which covers the basics of regression). I will help you improve and refine your analysis, but you are the one who should initiate the analysis. You should not simply summarize or describe a case or data, or write an essay about something.B. DataThe analysis must use actual data, not hypothetical data, although the names of persons and businesses or any identifiable information do not have to be revealed.C. An example of economic analysisHypothesis testingSuppose that you have worked for a commercial real estate brokerage firm. Your firm wants to maximize its profits or commissions by selling more commercial properties or office buildings. Potential buyers of office buildings are interested in the rents they can earn from the building they purchase. For these reasons, your firm and you would want to analyze the factors that determine the rents for office space. To that end, you would do the following.First, create a hypothesis to analyze, meaning that you need to find out which variables are known to affect the rents. Those variables would include the distance to CBD (central business district), the year built,….. Discuss your findings about the variables in the report. That is, you need to justify why you include certain variables by citing the relevant literature. For instance, your key hypothesis would be that the closer to the CBD or the newer the building, the higher the rents. Second, collect the relevant data to analyze the relationship between the rents and the variables you found above. That is, collect the data on rents and other variables from your internship work experience at the broker. Third, statistically analyze the relationship between rents and other variables by conducting a regression analysis. Fourth, make some recommendations to the firm based on your analysis.Structure your final report as follows:Part 1: general reportPart 2: economic analysis2a. introduction: discuss the importance of the issue you analyze in relation to your employersbusiness2b. hypothesis: discuss the rationale for your hypothesis and the rationale for other control variables.2c. data: explain your data and variables, and include summary statistics and explain it.2d. empirical analysis: regression results and the interpretation of the results2e. implications: discuss the implications of empirical analysis for your employers business2f. shortcomings: discuss the shortcomings of analysis such as data limitation.
TUX 101 Time Management Skills Reflection
Review Chapter 2: Time Management, from Thriving at Trident University, including Dr. Aaron Thompson’s reflections:I started the process of earning my doctorate a little later in life than other students. I was a married father with a preschool daughter (Sara). Since my wife left for work early in the morning, it was always my duty to get up and get Saras day going in the right direction. In addition, I had to do the same for myself. Three days of my week were spent on campus in class or in the library. (We didnt have quick access to research on home computers then as you do now.) The other two days of the workweek and the weekend were spent on household chores, family time, and studying.I knew that if I was to have any chance of finishing my Ph.D. in a reasonable amount of time, I had to adopt an effective schedule for managing my time. Each day of the week, I held to a strict routine. I got up in the morning, ate breakfast while reading the paper, got Sara ready for school, and got her to school. Once I returned home, I put a load of laundry in the washer, studied, wrote, and spent time concentrating on what I needed to do to be successful from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. every day. At lunch, I had a pastrami and cheese sandwich and a soft drink while rewarding myself by watching Perry Mason reruns until 1:00 p.m. I then continued to study until it was time to pick up Sara from school. Each night, I spent time with my wife and daughter and then prepared for the next day. I lived a life that had a preset schedule. By following that schedule, I was able to successfully complete my doctorate in a reasonable amount of time while giving my family the time they needed. (By the way, I still watch Perry Mason reruns.)Aaron ThompsonCase AssignmentWrite a 2–page reflection paper on your Time Management skills and how you can go about improving them. Use at least three tips from Chapter 2, Thriving at Trident, and additional information from the video to shape your response.
UC Computer Science Advancement in Technology Questions
Problem 1: A disgruntled former hospital employee with exceptional computer skills hacks into the hospital network from their home computer and plants a very aggressive computer virus into a Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system. The computer virus activates at 1:00 a.m., shutting down the Hospital Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, security system, building automation, and patient medical monitoring 57 system. Please explain how the hospitals cyber security team (CST) went about resolving the problem.A diversified Fortune 500 corporation that provides products and services to domestic and foreign governments and commercial customers suspected that a deceptive intruder was in their network; however, they knew neither the extent of the compromise, nor what (if any) data had been breached. The persistent deceptive intruders used tools and techniques that left trace evidence on each computer system they compromised. These host-based indicators of compromise are present every time the intruders attack anetwork. The corporation (client) called a team of advanced persistentthreat (APT) experts to validate their concerns, scope the intrusion, and provide a remediation strategy. APTs are used to identify, scope, and remediate the APT in the government and defense industrial base. The APT consists of skilled and sophisticated deceptive hackers who deploy a complex arsenal of deception malware against specific targets in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), financial, manufacturing, and research industries. Please explain how the APT went about resolving the problem.Lets look at a real-world scenario of how one of the worlds largest banks was challenged to harden network and data center critical infrastructure security deception measures without degrading the high performance required in the financial services industry. The banks network security team (NST) was charged with institutionalizing a network security certification process to measure the resiliency (performance, security, and stability) of every element of the network before and after deployment. The goal for the team was to right size the critical infrastructure for each line of business without introducing risk, ensuring that they did not overor underinvest in the network infrastructure. The team used a standardized and repeatable program to certify that devices are able to: Protect sensitive customer data from external deception attacks andinsider threats. Ensure cyber secure, rapid financial transactions. Reduce the risk of legal liabilities associated with noncompliance.Explain how the banks network security team should handle thissituation.
