Respond to autumn | Criminal homework help
Good morning fellow classmates and Dr. B,
I feel sentencing reforms should not be enacted because the system should not let everyone off easy. I believe deterrence is a better route than lightening sentences for offenders. I do understand the idea behind it, which is to reduce the number of incarcerated people. However, it wont help individuals learn from their actions. Itd become less punishment for them and, in some circumstances, a slap on the wrist. Which would then allow more individuals to go further into crime sprees.
I understand many individuals are choosing to commit crimes every day, however if the sentencing reforms should be enacted most of the criminals will get away with many charges. For example, the bail reform, there are many reoffending criminals that continue to commit crimes and theyre continuously released because of the bail reform. That is until they commit a high offense crime, or they dont pay their fines. Its a reoccurring cycle with the bail reform. I understand the incarceration rates are extremely high but most of them are doing a minimum sentence and getting out. There arent learning from their mistakes with the bail reform and the sentencing reform should not be enacted.
The bill reduces from 25 to 15 years the enhanced mandatory minimum prison term for a defendant who uses a firearm in a crime of violence or drug offense after a prior conviction for such offense. A court may apply the reductions retroactively, after considering certain factors (Congress, 2015). How is that ok? How is it that if the person uses a firearm in a crime of violence or drug offense after a prior conviction, they shouldnt be required to serve jail time? Or if someone commits murder? They should be required to serve prison time.
Yes, people make mistakes, and for some it happens at the wrong place and at the wrong time, but everyone should be required to take responsibility for their actions, even if it means they must be incarcerated. You made the mistake; therefore you have to deal with the consequences for your actions. Like the saying, youve made your bed now you lie in it. We shouldnt be able to drive under the influence of alcohol or substances and cause an accident and get out of it Scott free when it involves another person(s) life. Thats not how the system should work at all. The person should be held responsible if the individual(s) life in the other vehicle was taken because someone made the mistake of getting behind the wheel after being under the influence of alcohol or drug substances.
Best to you in health and safety,
Autumn Michelle Scott

Economy Tax and Regulations Cut vs Tax and Regulations Pile Summary
Read the following two statements taken from a Forbes article in December 31, 2013.Statement 1: “there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. The market will take care of everything, they tell us. If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes – especially for the wealthy – our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle down, well, that’s the price of liberty.”Statement 2: “there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. The government will take care of everything, they tell us. If we just pile on even more regulations and raise taxes – especially on the wealthy – our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the losers are protected by more social programs and a higher minimum wage, if there is more Quantitative Easing by the Fed., then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle up to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle up, well, that’s the price of a social safety net.”These statements are based upon the US economy and different, well-known, economic governmental philosophies implemented frequently. These are very BIG economic statements which means these statements refer to many different aspects of macroeconomic government policy. During this course, we have already discuss some some portions of these theories and will eventually discuss other portions of these theories.1. Which philosophy do you agree with? Why? Narrow down your thoughts to one aspect of these macroeconomic policies, i.e taxes (more or less), government spending, government welfare spending, monetary growth, effects of government regulation, etc.2. Find at least one journal article that either agrees with or disagrees with the philosophy that you have chosen in #1. 3. Find a popular press article that argues the opposite4. Summarize your journal article as it refutes your popular press article. This summary should be in terminology that could be understood by your fictional high school senior.
Week 3- decision making. | Nursing homework help
Case Study
Mr. K is a 43-year-old male who has been admitted to the coronary care unit after experiencing a myocardial infarction which led to a cardiac arrest. Mr. K has maintained a healthy and active lifestyle since his myocardial infarction three years ago. Prior to his admission, Mr. K was at home running on his treadmill as part of his morning routine. His wife, Mrs. K, heard a loud noise and ran downstairs to find Mr. K lying prone on the treadmill with a head injury and no pulse. Mrs. K called 9-1-1. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was not initiated until paramedics arrived, and it was approximately 45?min until Mr. K had a return of spontaneous circulation. Mr. K was intubated at home and then brought into hospital where he was seen immediately by the cardiac team, which included an advanced practice nurse (APN). The APN’s role was to gather information about what might have led to Mr. K’s event and to consider the current goals of care. Given the estimated downtime (time without adequate blood circulation), the APN acknowledges that Mr. K would most likely suffer from severe anoxic brain injury, and his prognosis would be poor.
Although nothing had been confirmed by the physician, the APN recognizes that there is a strong possibility that she will need to support Mrs. K through the withdrawal of care for her husband. After considering this, the APN became overwhelmed with emotion as she thinks about her own spouse who is the same age as Mr. K. In addition, the APN also experienced profound frustration as to why Mrs. K did not initiate CPR for her husband. As the team continues to aggressively work on Mr. K, the APN will be Mrs. K’s initial point of contact and will work closely with her to meet the overall goals of care for Mr. K.
Discussion:
a. Choose three types of decision-making models that will assist the APN in providing care to Mr. K and Mrs. K. Compare and contrast the three chosen models making sure to discuss key aspects of these models and the benefits and limitations of these models in addressing the above situation.
b. Describe the rationale for choosing the decision-making models to apply to the case study scenario.
c. What do you feel is best decision-making model to use for APN? Provide a rationale.
Please be sure to adhere to the following when posting your weekly discussions:
As a reminder, all discussion posts must be minimum 250 words, references must be cited in APA format 7th Edition, and must include minimum of 2 scholarly resources published within the past 5-7 years.

Week 2 – Discussion: Boundaries
Response 1- Jamie
Which one specific ethics code, addressing boundaries, do you feel is important to be included in the standards? Why?
In ACA standards for school counselors section A. 15. Technical and Digital Citizenship it states, Understand challenges with confidentiality when using email and establish protocols and boundaries for responding to emails (ACA.org, 2022). This is an important code on boundaries because it talks about confidentiality with students, but also the importance of boundaries. Now a days with technology students have easier access to students through email or messaging through google classroom sites. There have been many stories of teacher/student relationships that blur these boundaries and waver on an unethical line. It is important as a counselor when reaching out to students through emails and responding that we keep it very professional, share any responses of students that may be inappropriate to admin, and keep student confidentiality unless the message shows harm and serious problems that need to be mandated and reported. Social media is another great example of setting boundaries. Social media allows counselors to humanize the profession, educate others about mental health and even connect people with the resources and services they need. According to counseling today, counselors have an opportunity to use social media platforms to offset misinformation and educate others on mental health (Counseling Today, 2022). School counseling is a specialization in which a gap is bridged between students and their families to help facilitate student achievement, improve behaviors and attendance, and help students with social and emotional regulations. Through tools such as social media counselors can help advocate for students and keep parents informed. Social media needs to be supported by multiple people such as counselor, admin, and a teacher to have more eyes on whats being posted, how people and responding, and when comments or questions come in, giving appropriate responses, boundaries for successful use without crossing lines, forming inappropriate relationships and have multiple eyes on content and problems that could arise. Having support systems is important.

RESPONSE 2- CLAUDIA
Which one specific ethics code, addressing boundaries, do you feel is important to be included in the standards? Why?
In ASCAs Ethical Standards for School Counselors (American School Counselor Association, 2022), one specific ethics code that stands out as important and that should be included in the standards is code B.2: Responsibilities to the School. This ethics code covers the various responsibilities of school counselors in their roles as leaders and facilitators within, and outside, the school environment. Various points from the code will be examined below:
School counselors develop and maintain professional relationships and systems of communication with faculty, staff and administrators to support students (American School Counselor Association, 2022). This point highlights the specific responsibility that school counselors have in collaborating with stakeholders to produce best outcomes for social/emotional, academic and career readiness of students. Through collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the school community, school counselors can gain a better understanding of the needs and challenges of students, align their counseling efforts appropriately, and provide data-driven lessons and support.
Another important aspect of B.2 is through advocacy. School counselors exercise leadership to create systemic change to create a safe and supportive environment and equitable outcomes for all students (American School Counselor Association, 2022).
Counselors advocate for counseling programs that are free of non-school-counseling assignments, as has been identified by The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs. The ASCA framework ensures that school counselors are practicing in their professional role of providing support services to students in the areas of academic, career, and social/emotional wellness.
School counselors maintain confidentiality and inform appropriate officials, in accordance with federal and state law and school and district policy, of conditions that may be potentially disruptive or damaging to the schools mission, personnel and property, while honoring the confidentiality between students and school counselors to the extent possible (American School Counselor Association, 2022) .
While all the codes are essential to an effective counseling program, and serve to guide counselors in their practice, I believe that code B.2 sufficiently covers all the leadership, advocacy and confidentiality aspects of a school counselor. B.2 addresses the importance of developing professional relationships, delivering comprehensive programs, advocating for equitable policies, creating a safe and inclusive school environment, and adherence to ethical research practices.

Week 2 – Discussion: Hope & Altruism
RESPONSE 4- ASHLEY
Were interrelationships within school organization and the community reviewed?
Yalom shares the interrelationship between group therapy and healing for those struggling with alcohol abuse as it drastically influences change in them. People who grapple with this matter often feel overwhelmed, isolated, and lack control, and the group setting helps individuals overcome these emotions, among many others. Point number 8 reiterates the importance of the interrelationship between combatting substance abuse and interacting with others by stating, Interpersonal learning teaches clients how to develop supportive interpersonal relationships. (2015) Working with others with the same struggle allows individuals to support one another by processing the issue together and finding solace in knowing they are not alone and can work towards their goals together. As they witness change occurring in others, their hope is restored, encouraging them for their healing. Although these articles focus on therapy, this same concept can be applied to the school setting, allowing students to engage in community and heal substance abuse through group counseling.
Identify how the various stakeholders engaged in school, family, and community partnerships.
Yalom shares how the group helps participants engage in school, family, and community partnerships. For instance, the group helps individuals improve their ability to relate to one another and gain confidence through healthy relationships. This interaction will translate to students’ relationships at school, family, and community. Depending on their family dynamic, this may be their first introduction to healthy relationships, which may change their life trajectory by allowing them to feel seen, heard, understood, and accepted. Once students embrace the group, they may no longer desire to isolate themselves and may be encouraged to develop a healthier lifestyle.
Yalom also mentions how the group is cathartic and can lead participants to release pent-up emotions due to the supportive environment, which will also help them as they interact within their school community. In the schools, the counselors can ask students to participate in a mindfulness activity, improving students’ attention to their tasks and growing compassion for themselves and others. One example at my site is Mindful Monday, where the counselor records herself leading students through a mindfulness activity, which teachers project for all nine hundred students, encouraging them to practice deep breathing in times of stress.

RESPONSE 4- Stacey
Were interrelationships within the school organization and the community reviewed? If so, how?
In this week’s readings, I gained new knowledge on Yrvin Yalom’s eleven therapeutic factors in group therapy. The first factor discussed is an installation of Hope, which emerges when clients feel hope due to others struggling through similar struggles in their life and seeing change happening amongst them. The interrelationships that I gathered through readings are the members as a community and as individuals, the families supporting the members in this group, the facilitator, and the therapist/counselor. All of these interrelationships are important and should be valued because it takes all of them to make this therapy group work. The group allows members to feel that they are not alone and makes them feel that their struggle is not unique and they feel supported because of it. This gives people the confidence to make changes in their life. As counselors, I believe it is important that when we form groups we make sure everyone feels that they belong, are supported, remove any feeling of solitude, and make sure that everyone feels cared for. As a facilitator of a group, having these interrelationships with everyone is key and it is very important to have that engagement with all members of the group, not singling people out, and acknowledging that they made it to the group is so essential.
Identify how the various stakeholders engaged in school, family, and community partnerships.
In group therapy, there are various stakeholders including the facilitator, the members, and even the staff helping if any. In a school setting, there are also many stakeholders such as the students, the parents, the admin team, the counselors, and other members who work in the school system. Group therapy allows clients to help one another by providing feedback and this helps as it allows for the community to share experiences and be celebrated or encouraged, this is also possible within a school setting. The stakeholders in a group setting feel valued by sharing their success and this is when self-esteem is emerged. Another way that counselors can help in this group setting is by being sensitive to the members, and by being self-aware of their own behavior because members start to imitate behavior and they are also watching for other members’ behaviors who are being successful with their struggles. As future counselors, we must always remember that we are leaders in our school community and we are always being watched and imitated. We also are going to be leaders of groups we form and we need to support our members and encourage and be able to always celebrate wins no matter how small or how big they may be.

Purpose of corrections: punishment, or rehabilitation? | CRJ 410 – Corrections | Strayer University
To successfully complete this, you will need to:
Refer to:
An Overview of the First Step Act. (https://www.bop.gov/inmates/fsa/overview.jsp)
This resource provides a thumbnail description of 2018s First Step Act. This Act’s purpose is to: improve criminal justice outcomes, reduce the size of the Federal prison population, and to create mechanisms to maintain public safety.
The First Step Act of 2018: An Overview [PDF]. (attached)
This resource provides a more detailed overview of the First Step Act’s effect on inmates and their families.
The United States has experienced a corrections explosion over the past 40 years, despite a decrease in serious crime during this same period. Consider statistics such as these. Since 1980, the:
Number of people on probation has increased by nearly 300%.
Prison population has increased by more than 400%.
Federal imprisonment rate has increased 500% (Schmalleger, 2021).
Even though we are in the midst of a period of mass incarceration in the United States, we know that incarceration doesnt work. Consider this quote from the video, Psychology, Criminality, and Incarceration in America: “Prisons don’t work. People do not get corrected in today’s prisons. Convicts come out worse than when they went in and are even a greater threat to society than before” (Lary, 2010). The Bureau of Justice Statistics has evidence supporting this sentiment. The 2018 Update on Prisoner Recidivism states an estimated:
68% of released prisoners were arrested within 3 years.
79% within 6 years.
83% within 9 years (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2018).
Instructions
After reviewing the resources provided in the overview, you are to write a 23 pages in which you:
Distinguish among the four functions of corrections: retribution, deterrence, incapacitation, and rehabilitation.
Be sure to illustrate the distinctions with current and/or historical examples.
Summarize the arguments for and criticisms of each of the four corrections functions.
Explain the current state of each of the four corrections functions in the United States.
Select a minimum of three corrections improvements included in the Psychology, Criminality, and Incarceration in America video that appear promising and explain why you think so.
Use three sources to support your writing.
Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate.
Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment.

Marketing Objectives
Establish marketing objectives based on the results from the SWOT analysis. Marketing objectives must align with corporate objectives, modified by the companys resources. Objectives should include a date for the completion of the objective and the way in which success will be measured. For example: The company will expand its marketing efforts to include a new market segment of 21- to 29-year-olds. This will entail the development of a customized product by June 2020 that will address the specific psychographic and technological needs of this age group. This strategy is expected to attain a 20% growth in overall sales by January 2020. Customer loyalty (willingness to recommend the product) will increase by 30%.
Growth Rate Associated with Robert E. Lees Historic Home Discussion
Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Boyhood Home is for SaleThe historic Virginia home that Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee grew up in hit the market (in April 2018) for $8.5 million. (Trapasso, C.)Robert E. Lee’s father Henry rented the home in 1812, according to The Washington Post. The family lived there for over 80 years, including Robert E. Lee from age five to when he went to West Point in 1825. He again visited five years after the Civil War ended, The Post reported. (Leayman, E.)The home’s other claim to fame is that President George Washington also dined and lodged there before the Lee family moved in. (Trapasso, C.)Built in 1795, the brick house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. (Trapasso, C.)The home had been used as a residence until 1966.
