Sullivan University Environmental Science Discussion

You will download this word document, it has instructions on page one and the following pages are the questions you need to answer. For this assignment you will need to find a news story that relates to the topics we’ve learned during this course to assess. The article cannot be older than 6 months and should consist of at least 4 paragraphs of content. As you are considering the question of bias, you might want to visit this website (AllSides) where they classify various news outlets as being either left, center or right.I am going to post each discussion we’ve had from each week. You can chose a topic from any of those WEEK ONE-Chapter 3 in our textbook introduces several environmentalists throughout history. I would like for you to think of an environmentalist as anyone who cares about the environment (hopefully that includes you!). For this discussion post do some research and find someone that would likely be recognized by most people in the class (famous athlete, actor, politician etc…) and make a case for how they are an environmentalist. I want this person to be alive today, so no historical figures. Also Greta Thunberg is off the table, she’s well known for being an environmentalist, she’s not well known for another reason who also happens to care about the environment. WEEK TWO-We learn in chapter 15 about conservation efforts to protect endangered species. There are some groups that are trying to approach this issue from a different angle, they are working to bring species back from extinction (this is called de-extinction). One well known example of this is the research group working to bring the Woolly Mammoth back. There are several TedTalks that explain what is happening and how they’re doing it. My favorite is from 2013 and I’ve linked it here. Colossal is the name of a company that is actively working to achieve de-extinction. For the discussion board this week I’d like you to visit their website and explore the “de-extinction” page. I hoping we can get a lively discussion going this week about this concept. Questions to think about as you write your post:WEEK THREE-The content this week has a big focus on water resources. For the discussion this week, you can either focus on freshwater resources or marine (ocean) resources.Freshwater – I would argue that this is one of our most valuable resources. We have very little freshwater and we don’t always use it responsibly. Do some research into a couple of practices that we can try to incorporate into our lives to use our freshwater resources more sustainably.Marine – Ocean resources are unique in that they are not “owned” by anyone. The water bordering a country is under the protection of that country, but the open ocean does not belong to any one group of people. This makes regulating what happens in the ocean, and taking responsibility for cleaning it up a complicated matter. If you choose to focus on marine resources this week I’d love to hear your ideas on what we can do to better care for our oceans. Do some research to support whatever ideas you share. WEEK FOUR-This week we are learning about what happens to our solid waste. We are very much a consumer driven society and we make a LOT of waste in our daily lives! For the discussion this week I want everyone to do a 24 hour waste audit. You can download this sheet to keep track of what you consume for a 24 hours period and what will happen to the waste that you generate doing what you do during that time. You don’t need to use the sheet, but it’s a good guide to help you think through what you are using, writing some notes about your waste on scrap paper or tracking it in a note on your phone is fine too. The sheet was originally created for an event in 2018, but it will work fine for us to use as we examine our own practices today. For your initial post, lets look at recycling. After you’ve completed your waste audit you can post the results either as a part of your initial post (if you see the instructions in time for that) or you can comment on your own post with some conclusions based on your audit. Things to think about after your audit:WEEK FIVE-This week we learned about air pollution and the accumulation of greenhouse gasses. We know that burning fossil fuels (like gasoline in automobiles) is a major contributor of greenhouse gasses. In April the EPA proposed changes to the regulation of emmissions that seem poised to push the production of Electric Vehicles (EVs) way up (see this news story from CNN).For the discussion this week I’d love to hear your thoughts, supported by research, on whether or not we should be giving up on alternative fuels (like biofuel) and going all in on EVs. A few questions to consider:WEEK SIX-We learned this week that fossil fuels are finite and most predictions have them running out within the next 100 years or so. We also learned that the cost of most renewable sources of energy has come down to a point where they are comparable to the cost of fossil fuels. This begs a few questions:

CCC Health Changes in Health Insurance Policy Discussion

PART A “Reflections” Please respond to the following:PLEASE RESPOND TO CLASSMATE DISCUSSION WHETHER YOU AGREE OR NOT & A DETAILED WHY: What we learned about Medicare and its impact on the rest of insurance providers was very helpful for me since I am already working for a health insurance company. I will be able to use what I learned to move up within the company, which is my goal. Another concept that can help me prepare for the future is that I learned how much health insurance, quality of care, and providers are effected by politics and that I should certainly pay more attention to when it is discussed in political debates since it does affect me.The degree to which my understanding of healthcare policy has changed greatly since my knowledge was limited. I understand the Affordable Care Act and the marketplace more and why it was such a big deal when it was enacted. EMTALA was also something that I was not familiar with and learning about the rights of patients in an emergency was very helpful. Lastly, Chapter 13 in our textbook went over the threats to public health and broke it down to define the different types of threats and how they are handled. That information was new to me and it is probably something that should be discussed more.Part B ? “The Future” Please respond to the following:PLEASE RESPOND TO CLASSMATE DISCUSSION WHETHER YOU AGREE OR NOT & A DETAILED WHY: A potential change to health care reform that could happen over the next decade is the technological change. Technology has already played a huge important role in healthcare with implementation of EMR’s and e-prescribing. Some facilities are now even providing web based appointments for patients. Technology is always advancing and I can see the potential for even better health care possibilities. Another potential change can be how US citizens obtain health care. Right now its the affordable care act and the market place, but politicians are campaigning for universal health care comparable to Canada.Three health insurance policies that can affect consumers in the future are the cost of insurance, the coverage and the choices of providers. I do believe that health insurance may become more affordable to the consumer because now there are many options and the insurance companies will want to stay competitive. Coverage for all preventative care is now normal but I do think coverage for new lab test for early detection of certain illnesses will now also be included because insurance companies are now realizing early detection saves more money down the road. I can foresee people fighting see a doctor based on their preference and not on who is in network. Consumers will want to choose a plan that allows them that option. Providers will not have to worry about being in network and can concentrate solely on the care of the patient, they will also provide better care since patients will be able to go elsewhere if they are not happy.

Sources of Financial Aid

In this Assignment, you will examine a variety of sources of  financial aid and write a paper in which you present key aspects of four  specific financial aid programs, compare the similarities and  differences of these types of aid, and provide some implications  financial aid types have on policy. For this Assignment, you should use  websites and printed materials distributed by institutions, private and  public financial aid providers, and other reliable, published  information to identify and present the provisions of four financial aid  programs. Remember to include the Library and other resources in your  research. This is the sort of information you might gather as an employee in a  higher education institution investigating the financial aid available  to support current and prospective students. The information is used by  higher education administrators when making decisions about tuition and  fee increases.Your Assignment is to provide an example for four out of the of the following five financial aid sources:Completing your Sources of Financial Aid AssignmentFormatYour Assignment should adhere to the following format (choosing 4 of the 5 types of aid listed below):Introduction: Provide a context and purpose for your paper,  including why you chose the state and school you did and provide  information on the cost of attendance (e.g., tuition, fees, housing,  books, etc).Federal government grant/award: Identify the name of the grant  or award you select. Present the provisions of the program such as  eligibility criteria, rules governing the award, how the amount is  determined, duration of the award, how many awards are available, and  stipulations of the award, including how the funds may or may not be  used, etc. Also, include the portion of the cost of education at your  sample school covered by the funds and what the student must bear.Private funded grant/award: Identify the name of the grant or  award you select. Present the provisions of the program such as  eligibility criteria, rules governing the award, how the amount is  determined, duration of the award, how many awards are available, and  stipulations of the award, including how the funds may or may not be  used, etc. Also, include the portion of the cost of education at your  sample school covered by the funds and what the student must bear.Federal loan: Identify the name of the grant or award you  select. Present the provisions of the program such as eligibility  criteria, rules governing the award, how the amount is determined,  duration of the award, how many awards are available, and stipulations  of the award, including how the funds may or may not be used, etc. Also,  include the portion of the cost of education at your sample school  covered by the funds and what the student must bear.Private loan: Identify the name of the grant or award you  select. Present the provisions of the program such as eligibility  criteria, rules governing the award, how the amount is determined,  duration of the award, how many awards are available, and stipulations  of the award, including how the funds may or may not be used, etc. Also,  include the portion of the cost of education at your sample school  covered by the funds and what the student must bear.Institution-funded award: Identify the name of the grant or  award you select. Present the provisions of the program such as  eligibility criteria, rules governing the award, how the amount is  determined, duration of the award, how many awards are available, and  stipulations of the award, including how the funds may or may not be  used, etc. Also, include the portion of the cost of education at your  sample school covered by the funds and what the student must bear.Comparisons and Implications: Compare the four types of  financial aid programs you outlined, addressing the differences and  similarities among them. Provide a brief discussion of implications the  different types of available aid have on higher education policy. Conclusion: Wrap up your paper, summarizing your major points. The length of the paper for content is 2?3 pages long. Before you  submit it, make sure it has proper cover and reference pages and follows  APA (6th ed.) style.

CU Quality Assurance and Risk Management Discussion

For this discussion use you?re Measuring Health Care: Using Quality Data for Operational, Financial, and Clinical Improvement by Yosef D. Dlugaczand the Internet to read and review the following:-Read Chapter 3, “Using Data to Improve Organizational Process,” pages 41?64. This reading helps cement the thoughts behind gathering quality data and how this data is used in health care organizations. This chapter discusses the organizational process, noting the similarities and differences between different types of health care organizations.-Read Chapter 4, “What to Measure and Why,” pages 65?93. This chapter provides a wonderful discussion on how we measure what we measure and why. While many may think measuring is all about patient satisfaction, it is not. We measure health care to ensure that we are providing the right treatment, at the right time, to the right patient, for the right reasons. Health care quality measurement is a growing field for health care employment.-Review resources from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) regarding the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) Cycle. Most health care quality initiatives are based on this simple complex first created by Deming to analyze management issues. This resource provides a nice application for health care use of this valued principle.-Review the 2009 PQRI Measures List. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) help forge a plan for health care providers to measure and report on quality. The Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) is a very new concept of including physicians and other providers who bill using Common Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. PQRI has front-line providers as part of the data gathering to ensure that evidence-based care is provided to patients. By being part of the PQRI project, physicians and other providers gain financial reimbursement. While providing incentives to physicians to apply evidence-based care may seem odd, the provision of evidence-based care does promise significant overall cost savings and better patient outcomes***Click Launch Presentation to complete the Indicators of Quality drag and drop exercise. You will be asked to identify indicators of quality. Be prepared to share your experience in this unit’s discussion. I will upload the Indicators of quality sheet.1. National Organizations: Measuring QualityBased on the national quality management organization you were assigned in Unit 1, (the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) consider the types of measures that your organization is involved in on the national and local health care scene. In a 250- to 300-word response, discuss one specific measure or quality assurance activity that the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality works on. Do you see evidence of these efforts in the hospital or in your community?.2. Using Data to Improve Organizational ProcessesChapters three and four of the Measuring Health Care Quality textbook concentrate on methods to collect data and to use this data to improve an organizational process. Both chapters provide several case studies to demonstrate this process. Consider the quality process called PDCA (Plan Do Check Act) cycle. From work within an health care organization, consider other situations where data may be collected and used to improve an organizational process. In a 250- to 300-word substantive post:-Provide your own unique case study of a process that could be improved within your own organization.-Discuss what types of data would need to be collected and how that data would be used to seek improvements.-Provide your post following the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) method.

PSY 211 Arizona Christian University Ergogenic Aids for Athletes Questions

Many athletes take ergogenic aids before competing in games or tournaments like the Olympics. However, before they decide to take these aids, I think that athletes should ask a few questions. The athletes who are considering taking an ergogenic aid should first ask if it is safe. These athletes should do their own research, away from the pressures of coaches and maybe even teammates to see the side effects of these ergogenic aids. They should then ask more if taking ergogenic aids is safe for them specifically. Although some ergogenic aids are generally safe, they make have a different impact on different individuals. As a result, athletes should do research and discover if a treatment is safe for them. One of the articles discussed how caffeine ingestion affects individuals differently based on variations in people?s genetic makeup. For example, one gene, CYP1A2, effects caffeine metabolization speed and nervous system excitability. Finally, I think athletes should ask themselves if taking these ergogenic aids is really fair. Is it a form of cheating or is it merely leveling the playing field as perhaps all athletes do something that gives them a certain leg up against the competition? Overall, I do not think that the decision about whether or not to take ergogenic aids and which type to take should not be one that is treated lightly.b) (150 words)Athletes, before starting taking ergogenic aids, have to go through questions like if the substance is useful? If it is safe to take this supplement? What are the risks of using this product? If it legal to use this medicine in the united states, then why should you buy it? I have used Redbull to give me the energy to study or to do something; my parents always say to me that it is terrible for my health and that they met someone that died because of it. I have a friend that tried the amphetamine pill, so he could study and focus on his work. He was trying to stimulate his brain. The problem was not during the effect of the pill; during the pill, he was able to be productive and to solve everything on time. It was after the pill. He had all the side effects of the pill, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, nervousness, and he could not sleep. He did not know how to take this medicine properly since it was without a prescription basically (illegal). The only thing he knew was that it would be tough for him to get rid of the symptoms he was experiencing. We should “draw the line” between what is right and wrong in our lives. It is essential to remember that there are no right or wrong answers when it comes to supplements or drugs. You can always make your own choices about which one works best for you and your health.

EBP In Health Care Institutions Discussion

Hi, please reply to the following discussions with 100-150 words each reply. Should you have any questions pls do not hesitate to contact me. 1- Chiamaka,  Evidence-based health care practices are available for a number of conditions such as asthma, heart failure, and diabetes. However, these practices are not always implemented in care delivery, and difference in practices abound. Implementing evidence-based safety practices are difficult and need strategies that address the complication of systems of care, individual practitioners, senior leadership, and ultimately changing health care cultures to be evidence-based safety practice environments.Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the thorough and thoughtful use of current best evidence in conjunction with clinical expertise and patient values to guide health care decisions. Best evidence includes empirical evidence from randomized controlled trials; evidence from other scientific methods such as descriptive and qualitative research; as well as use of information from case reports, scientific principles, and expert opinion. When enough research evidence is available, the practice should be guided by research evidence in conjunction with clinical expertise and patient values.Steps of promoting adoption of EBPs can be viewed from the perspective of those who conduct research or generate knowledge, those who use the evidence-based information in practice, and those who serve as boundary spanners to link knowledge generators with knowledge users.ReferenceTitler, M. (2008). The Evidence for Evidence-Based Practice Implementation.2- Hiro, Healthcare organizations and leaders are under pressure to improve outcomes by creating a structure/culture/environment in which exploration of critical inquiry and the available body of evidence is an integral part of daily nursing practice (Mick, 2017). The problem with the organization adopting EBP is lack of resources and the lack of awareness from nursses on how EBP can help them practice better in providing effective patient care. Learning how to better link dollars to outcomes to portray a return on investment that demonstrates how EBP contributes to an organization’s profit margin could possibly justify additional investment in time and resources (Mick, 2017).                                                                     ReferenceMick, J. (2017). Call to action: How to implement evidence-based nursing practice. 3- Alicia, Evidence-based practices are an important aspect in patient care and outcome and implementing those practices may be a challenge for numerous reasons such as ineffective leadership or communication, inadequate support or knowledge, and opposing attitudes and behaviors from staff members reluctant to change. Evidence-based nursing is intended to standardize health care practices to the latest and best science available in order to minimize variations in care and avoid unanticipated health outcomes. How findings from evidence-based research are translated into effective nursing practices and policies considerably impacts health outcomes, the improvement of health care systems, and the performance of individual and group providers; significant barriers still exist in adopting or implementing evidence based nursing (Correa-de-Araujo, 2016). The main issue we are facing in addressing a solution to evidence-based practice is reluctant and hesitation from the staff members to actually initiate those new changes. Senior staff members don?t feel the need to implement those new changes and don?t see why there needs to be a change in how certain things are done. Also, lack of proper education and communication adds to the reluctance staff members feel because staff members aren?t adequately prepared or educated on these new evidence-based practices. I, too, feel lost at times when we are told to do something a new way without proper introduction or explanation. Ineffective communication and education leaves us feeling confused and hesitant to carry out those new practices. Ensuring that we provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective care to all patients is an assumption of today?s health care system; on the other hand, elements that foster effective translation of best evidence into daily practice are influenced by nurses? understanding and believing that EBP improves patient care outcomes, clinical leaders? modeling EBP in daily practice, and a culture that supports practice change based on best evidence (Makic, Rauen, Jones & Fisk, 2015). Evidence-based practices are necessary to ensure the best patient care and outcome and in order to see successful results, staff members should be willing to be open to changes and stay educated on the most current practices.Reference:Correa-de-Araujo, R. (2016). Evidence-Based Practice in the United States: Challenges, Progress, and Future Directions. Health Care for Women International, 37(1), 2?22.

Quality and Performance Management and Methods

As CRM firms implement ongoing cultural preservation strategies, there are ongoing problems associated with a lack of funds, long-term curation, and the interpretation of culture for future generations. respond to the following:———You are the head of human resources at a fairly large multinational company operating in northern California. You work closely with the marketing department on maintaining the company?s image internally and to the general media. As part of the company?s outreach and community support, your company has started developing interactive docent stations at some of the state?s cultural heritage sites. These are electronic interfaces at a few regional state-registered historical and archaeological sites that let tourists interact, ask questions, and develop a more integrated sense of the cultural landscape than a brochure. You and your team are working closely with state officials to make tourism more modernized and inclusive for a wider audience. Specifically, you have been tasked with developing the marketing campaign that will focus on the general public. You will likely have to produce billboards, television ads, and internet ads. Although you have a member of the National Parks Service consulting on your team, you and your crew are really the ones making the decisions. The advertisements you came up with were sent to final review with the National Parks Service and in public groups, and they came back with mixed reviews. You are struggling to understand why.Billboard: The billboard is located alongside a major highway and near one of the historic sites. It reads, ?Visit Governor State Historic Site . . . bringing the past to you digitally.? It has a picture of a family admiring a digitally produced, 3D representation of the state?s oldest estate with a line of RVs in the background.Television Ad: Your television ad has a couple of spots in primetime, but they are regional channels, so your audience likely comprises local resident families and singles eating dinner. It talks about the good old days and has two different all-white families climbing ancient Indian mounds from indigenous groups from the area. One of the actors comments, ?A fun place to bring your family!? as spotlessly dressed children play on top of the mound as dad and mom take a selfie on it. Everyone is laughing and enjoying the sunshine.Internet Banner: The internet banner is only on the National Parks website, so visitors are likely people interested in outdoor vacationing and quick weekend retreats. It has a picture of a stoic-looking tribal chief, though he is not affiliated with the living groups of the ancestral lands. His wife and children are barely covered in their hide and fur squares of clothing. The image is beautifully drawn with immense detail by a well-known and expensive artist from a different state. The tagline flashes, ?Visit State Archaeological Site and Learn Our Heritage.?Without drafting responses, think about some of the questions members of the senior management team might ask you when this marketing campaign comes up in leadership meetings. These questions may include:Now, respond to each of the following three items:Include further analysis of biases and ethical behavior of your five invested parties, including the following:You are a medical and health management consultant just hired by a prestigious New England hospital wanting to open branches in a foreign country. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, this burgeoning field is expected to grow almost 80% by 2018, so you know the healthcare industry is attempting to expand and diversify its cultural perceptions. Your primary concern as consultant is evaluating some of the cultural, legal, and logistical needs of the country so you can report back to the topic of trustees on the option to which the hospital might be best suited.Pick from the list of three countries (France, China, or Ethiopia) to complete a preliminary medical healthcare analysis. Your investigation does not have to be exhaustive, but it should provide the responses to the following questions after selecting a potential country:Discuss the similarities and differences with indigenous knowledge and Western scientific methods in researching why these parties would want ownership of the archaeological sites. Use cultural relativism to make a more thorough argument. F. Based upon your previous research, select at least one perspective from a living cultural group directly represented in the archaeological find to help inform your resolution for the press conference. G. Propose a potential resolution as to which party or parties have ownership of the archaeological find based on the findings in your research and the previously selected perspectives. This resolution will then be communicated in your press conference. Ensure that your resolution takes into consideration all of the potential issues and will create an ethically sound solution that best fits all invested parties.

Module 3 – SLP MERGERS, ACQUISITIONS, AND REDUCTIONS IN FORCE The following is a list of some of the resources available in the Trident Online Library related to the HR field.Academic Research Professional JournalsAdapted from: PennState University Libraries (2017). Retrieved from For each SLP question below, select three articles (published within the past five years), each from different peer-reviewed academic journals/magazines. [Utilize the above publications or other peer-reviewed academic journal/magazine publications you find through the Trident Online Library.] Find articles that specifically address the following:In your 2-page submission (not counting the cover page), create a 2-sided flyer that HR department staff can give to each person laid off due to Mergers & Acquisitions or a Reduction-in-Force. Include both a cover page and reference page for this assignment. These can be a separate document from the flyer. Experiment with using Microsoft Publisher or its equivalent free program found online for the 2-page flyer (a tri-fold flyer might work best for you?you could then put the references on the middle back column). Keeping the seriousness of the topic in mind, use color, but keep the flyer business-like without flamboyance. If you use a tri-fold template in Word or Publisher, plan your layout first so that once it is folded everything is in the right place.Upload your assignment to the appropriate Dropbox. Be sure to review your TurnItIn Originality report. If the score is over 20%, you may not be writing in your own words and you will need to contact your professor and arrange to revise and resubmit your assignment.Written Communications Assessed at the Emphasized LevelAs you may recall, in MGT302 (Organization Behavior and Teamwork) written communications was assessed at the ?introduced? level. Then, they were assessed at the ?reinforced? level in MGT407 (Principles of Human Resource Management) Case 3 where written communications are taken a step further by having you work on a submission that could be presented to a practitioner?s magazine for publication. Now, in MGT491 (Capstone in HRM), your written communications skills will be further developed and assessed at the ?emphasized? level. For this assignment you will create a brochure to give to laid-off employees that effectively communicates the impact a reduction-in-force has on the organization. The skills needed in these three assignments build on each other and offer you the opportunity to enhance and practice your written communications preparation skills. The grading rubric for written communications at the undergraduate level has been developed to measure student success in meeting the MGT407 Case 3 expectations related to written communications. Rubrics for the other two courses are included in their respective written communications assignments.Your submission will be assessed on the criteria found in the written communications grading rubric for this assignment:Privacy Policy | Contact
