This was a great video and something I will surely follow before heading into a school year as a brand-new counselor. I listen to podcasts and watch many videos because I cannot deny that I a little terrified of my first year as a school counselor. Interrelationships within the school organization were reviewed in this video especially in the first step that explained that we need to get with our school principal and discuss our responsibilities and duties (including non-duties) as a counselor (The Inspiring School Counselor, 2022). Even if we have already met and know the principal, we still need to address what our role is, what events we need to put into our schedule. In the 2nd part, ‘ Meet the Counselor’ is a huge way to begin building relationships with students, teachers, parents, and even school staff. It is an effective way allow everyone to get to know a bit about you as a person and how you are there to help. I would include some personal likes about myself so that I can kind of humanize myself for everyone so they might be able to connect with something they know about me. Having parent meetings is another way to be able to connect everything so that we get to know the students and their parents on a different level. As far as community is concerned, I didn’t hear anything about the community outside of the school organization. I know it is important for us as counselors to be aware the community we are serving and learn about what goes on there, so we are able to connect with resources around the area and refer students to different things. For example, while I was interning, a high school student wanted to know where he can go find some boxing lessons and at a low cost because he didn’t have funds for it. This is an example of counselors having those resources and being able to connect students with community-based activities.
A school can only function when various stakeholders are involved and working together to support the students AND each other. In the 8th part of the video, she discusses planning school activities and emphasizes reaching out for help (The Inspiring School Counselor, 2022). This is a great example of involving the school, family, and community when put something together that is beneficial for the students. My husband was part of a school-wide activity called ‘ Career Day’. The counselor at a local elementary school reached out to local business owners and other professionals that were part of the community and city the school is located in to come in and share about their career. I attended with him so I can get an idea of how the counselor put this together. Teachers, administration, the principal, students, and parents were all involved in this project, and it was a huge success. But I guarantee it wouldn’t have run this way if not for the support and help from all stakeholders involved with the school. Having group and classroom lessons is another way that stakeholders have to work together to support the students. Teachers need to be on board with having the school counselor come into the class and provide instruction that will be helpful to the students. They can offer their ideas via referrals about what might be needed with their students.
Overall, this was such a great video because it gave me the bare necessities that I will need to start my program and then go from there. I think one of the most important things that she said was that things might not go as planned. We may have a schedule, but things happen that might take precedence over what our plan was.

Response 2- Amelia
Were interrelationships within school organization and the community reviewed? If so, how?
The first thing that the video spoke on was meeting with school site admin to get a fell on what the goals and duties are for the school year, some of these things should likely be discussed before the end of the previous year so that planning can take place over the summer and ready to go when students come back on campus. Also discussed is “MEET THE COUNSELOR” In the secondary schools the middle school counselors meet with incoming 5th graders to create schedules so the students already know who they are when they start at the middle school. The same is done for incoming 9th graders.
Identify how the various stakeholders engaged in school, family, and community partnerships.
When completing the needs assessment, you can g support from teachers and parents. Referrals for counseling can be made through google forms, there will likely be a link on the school website. and a mail box in the office for the school counselor. Make sure to advise students that this is not for immediate urgent needs. Meeting with parents and 504 coordinators was discussed. We want to make sure that student plans and accommodations are still current to the student needs. When planning activities for the year you want to collaborate with stakeholders such as teachers, staff like campus security and PTSA and see what they feel is needed for the school and the students. The use of time information is important. I got to attend the end of year reviews and saw how school counselors spent their time. What was used was the student information system. All interventions are entered there and queries can be used to sperate services provided.
This video shared great information. Since my practicum took place at the end of the school year alot of these topics were covered for the planning for the start of the year. Lessons were completed and reviewed elementary counselors met with middle school counselors to go over students who were currently receiving services. Also collected input from teachers. The middle and high school counselors also met mostly for academics. The school counselors I worked with also made the effort to meet with the PBIS at the high school since they would be working with the for SEL more than the school counselors would. Something that I learned to use over the years is backwards planning. I have a calendar for things that I know have to be done yearly and I plan usually in April-May to get things set up or at least on the radar for the following year. This helps to make sure mandatory assignments are done so that as emergency’s come along it is not too overwhelming.

SEE EXAMPLE BELOW: (Each student must have a response in this format)
Hi Michelle,
Reflect: When you share your plans to do your “Meet the Counselor”, I appreciate you mentioning that you plan to share personal interests and likes to make yourself more relatable to students, families, and staff. I also like that you see the importance of discussing our roles and schedules with our principal, even if we’ve already met prior. This will help to set a healthy and supportive relationship!
Inquire: You mentioned an insightful intern experience when the counselor connected a student to community-based activities. Can you further explain any other examples you witnessed or were a part of that helped foster positive relationships?
Suggest: You shared a great example of your time at a Career Day with your husband that was made possible from the impact of the relationships within the school community. Consider using the knowledge you gained from that experience in furthering your goals to help your future students with college and career readiness.
Elevate: Thank you for focusing on building positive relationships. Next time, consider how you can collaborate with staff and/or stakeholders to attain resource materials and how you plan to keep those organized.
Overall, great post and I enjoyed reading it!

Please note: It is not necessary to add or subtract from the ideas contained in the example given. MEMORANDUM TO: All Department Heads SUBJECT: New Copy Procedures A recent study of our copy center request procedures indicates that we are not fulfilling copy requests as efficiently as possible. A number of problems surfaced in the survey. First, many requests, particularly large orders, are submitted before the copy center opens. Others are submitted after the copy center closes. As a result, the copy center has an enormous backlog of copy orders to fill before it can begin copy orders submitted after 8:30 A.M., when the center officially opens. This backlog may through the center two or three hours behind schedule. All copy requests throughout the day then require over two hours to complete. By 2:00 P.M., any copy requests submitted may not be filled that day. If large order arrive unexpectedly even a routine copy request may take two days to complete. To remedy the situation, we will change to the following copy request procedure beginning Monday, February 3. The copy center will close at 3:00 every afternoon. Two work-study employees will work at the center from 3:00 until 5:00 to complete all orders by 4:00. If you submit copy requests by 3:00, the center will have them ready by 4:00. In short, all requests will be filled the day they are submitted. TMGT 7142 ASSIGNMENT 1 VER 3.0 FEBRUARY 27, 2013 DE MARKER-LED DELIVERY However, do not leave copy requests after 3:00, as these will not be processed until the following day. However, we guarantee that if you leave your request for copies with us between 8:30 and 3:00, you will have them that day. Requests for copies of large orders over 100 copies of one item, single multiple copies of any document over 25 pages, of front/back photocopying of one item up to 50 copieswill require that a notice be given the copy center one day in advance. That way, the center can prepare for your copy request and be sure to have it ready for you. Copies of the request form are attached. Please complete one of these and send it to Lynda Haynes at the copy center so that she can schedule all big jobs. If you submit a big copy request without having complete the form, your request will be completed after other requests are complete. Allow plenty of time for routine jobs- at least two hours, and three if possible. Beginning February 3, give all copy requests to the receptionist at your office number. Be sure you attach complete instructions. Give your name, your phone number, and your office number. State the number of copies required and any special instructions. Specify staples or clips, color paper, and collation on multipage copies. Pick-up procedures also change February 3. All copy jobs, after they are complete, will be placed in each departments mail box. No copies will be left outside the copy center after closing time. No copies will be left with the receptionist. Large orders that will not fit mailboxes will be delivered to your office. If you have any questions about this new procedure, please contact Lynda Haynes at 2257.

please choose THREE of the following classic studies to review and then answer each of the following questions for each experiment. IMPORTANT: Please be sure to copy and paste this document into a new Word Document and then insert your responses for each question directly below the question. responses must be written in full sentences with a subject and verb (no sentence fragments or bulleted/numbered lists).
Please select on the following and peruse the ten classic studies discussed. In case of any difficulty accessing the link, brief descriptions of each of the ten studies follow below:
===================================================================================
1. Little Albert: John B. Watson studied classical conditioning by taking an infant who had no previous fear of animals and essentially inducing a phobia of a white rat. He did so using the principles of classical conditioning (pairing a loud noise with the introduction of the rat to the baby). The child then became fearful of the rat even without the loud noise being present.
2. Asch Conformity: Subjects were placed in a group alongside actors. All were asked to access the series of lines and say which line was the longest. The actors gave correct responses, but then began to give incorrect responses. The majority of the subjects conformed and began to give an incorrect response as well.
3. Darley & Latané Bystander Effect: Following the brutal murder of Kitty Genovese in NYC in which there were many witnesses, but no one called police, these experimenters decided to test the bystander effect. They simulated several situations, but particularly one in which the subject overheard a person in the next room (actually a recording) having a seizure and measured whether subjects who were alone were quicker to act and assist than those who believed others could overhear the medical emergency as well.
4. Milgram Obedience: In an attempt to understand how Nazi soldiers could possibly have complied with commands to kill Jews (and other victims of the Holocaust), Milgram studied obedience. In a rigged situation, participants drew straws and the subject was assigned the role of teacher. The “student” (actually a recording) was placed in another room. Whenever the “student” got an answer wrong, the teacher pressed a button to “shock” the student, and the shocks got progressively stronger. Milgram was interested to see what percentage of subjects would “shock” the student to the top of the board. The majority of subjects did so, although they were visibly uncomfortable.
5. Harlow’s Monkeys: Although these were animal subjects instead of humans, there are ethical concerns. Harlow used baby rhesus monkeys and removed the babies from their mothers, replacing the mother with either a wire “mother” or a cloth “mother.” The wire mother fed the babies through a bottle, while the cloth “mother” provided nothing but comfort. Harlow was interested to see whether the association with food would cause the babies to seek comfort from the wire mother, but they did not.
6. Seligman’s Learned Helplessness: Seligman used dogs and placed them in a box with a barrier in the middle. He randomly shocked the dogs through the floor. Dogs first tried to escape the shocks by jumping over the barrier, but eventually quit trying to jump and just “took” the shocks because they were unable to permanently escape the shocks.
7. Sherif’s Robbers’ Cave: Sherif conducted this experiment to test how groups problem solve and deal with conflict. Boys at a summer camp were split into two groups, which were kept apart from one another. The experimenters manipulated competitions between the groups to keep the conflict/tension between the groups high. Then, Sherif manipulated the environment so that the camp as a whole faced a problem, such as a water shortage. After the groups were forced to work together to solve the problem, they integrated and functioned harmoniously together.
8. Johnson’s Monster Study: This was an early study conducted to test the causes of stuttering in children. Johnson used a group of orphans and told half of the group that they had stutters. Although none of the children actually developed a stutter, they did develop problems with self-esteem often associated with children who stutter.
9. Elliott’s Blue-Eyes/Brown-Eyes: In an attempt to demonstrate the effects of prejudice/discrimination, a teacher (Jane Elliott) divided her class into blue-eyed and brown-eyed students. She cited phony research that indicated that one group was superior to the other and then treated that group with favor throughout the day. It took only one day for the children to begin acting in accordance with what they had been told. The groups were then switched, and the same observations were made.
10. Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Study: Zimbardo recruited college-aged males to participate in a two-week experiment related to how people behave in prison. He randomly assigned participants to the roles of “guards” or “prisoners.” He found that, within a shockingly quick amount of time, guards became sadistic and prisoners became despondent and helpless. He ultimately wound up discontinuing the experiment after only six days because of the potential psychological damage the experiment was having on the subjects.

Language Development Between Birth and Age 8 Discussion
Reply to the 4 discussion post (One Paragraph response each). Be constructive and professional in your responses. This week focuses on language development and milestones. Which stage of language development between birth and age 8 do you feel is the most critical? Why? What are some factors that may positively and negatively affect language development? Explain and provide specific examples to support your response. (This is just the Discussion Question for Response 1 & 2)Response 1Satella,The stage of language development between birth and age 8 that I feel is the most critical would be communication. An infant cries to let you know that they want food, comfort or companionship. Then, as they grow they begin to sort out the speech that helps them to compose the words of their language. Some factors that may positively and negatively affect language development are to see if they are motivated to learn, do they have support at home, do they have prior knowledge of the language, how do they feel in the classroom setting, how do I teach the language and most importantly how old are they when they start to learn language skills. Some examples to support my response are that parents who prioritize the language learning process are more likely to push their child to keep trying even when it feels difficult, make sure that the classroom is positive and relaxing, see what the aspects are that affect the learning process by the age of the student, and another example could b to make sure that the students understand the concept of a language.Response 2DiedraI feel the most critical age of language development is age 0-12 months. I feel this stage is the most critical because this is the age where parents build the foundation of speech for their child by talking to them, reading and singing nursery rhymes to them. This is the stage babies start to make eye contact, making vowels and consonant sounds such as ah, ba, ga, ma, da, etc. At this stage babies learn how to make different pitches, sounds and volume. They learn how to put two syllables together to make longer sequences of sounds, which which may sound like normal speech such as mama and dada. This is the stage babies first learn how to communicate their needs and wants. It is up to the parents or adults to communicate back to the their child so they will learn the correct way to communicate their needs and wants without pointing, making sounds, nodding their head or using one word. This is the stage where babies learn who they are by responding to their name by looking, smiling, widening their eyes, or listening. I feel this is the most critical stage because it is the time babies first learn how to communicate.Last week, you had the opportunity to create a content area writing activity for elementary students. This week’s emphasis is on comprehension strategies and study skills in the content areas. What are the key components of explicit strategy instruction? What is its role in content area instruction? How will you use explicit strategy instruction in your own teaching? Explain and provide specific examples to support your response. Response 3KristenComprehension and study skills are a big topic at my school this year. We got special training from a women who is contracted out of North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to help our school with comprehension strategies. Students need to be able to synthesize and think about their thinking on a very deep level in order to have a good understanding of the topic. We would use this strategy during our close reading usually with nonfiction but this strategy also works with fiction. Students have a large sticky note for each paragraph. the students read each paragraph to themselves and think about the question “what is important to me in this paragraph?” As students are thinking about this they are thinking about their thinking and internalizing the passage. They are making personal connections therefor hopefully comprehending the text. They write their thoughts on their sticky notes in no more than three sentences. This helps them condense their thinking into what is actually important. The students them share in groups of their thinking and discuss certain aspects about the text. At the end of the activity students use their sticky notes to write a summary.Response 4julieWhen I read about explicit strategy instruction, one of the parts that struck me was that the teacher must be knowledgeable about the students’ understanding and skills with using different strategies. The text suggests having students read a passage and observing what strategies they currently are using to understand the reading. The next component is to create awareness of the strategy — why it is important and how to use it. It is so important to get the students to buy-in to the important of using strategies, otherwise it can just seem like extra work to them. Then the teacher explains the steps and models it for the class. Using think-alouds helps makes this process more transparent for the students. They are not just watching a teacher underline certain section, but also hearing the reason that the teacher chose to highlight that section and not another. Finally, allow the students multiple opportunities to practice the new strategy as well as a time to review it. Do they find it helpful or difficult? This is the part I really struggle with. I don’t think I give students enough opportunities to evaluate the usefulness of a strategies or their understanding of a lesson.
Project 4 | Social Science homework help
In this project, you are determining the best legal form and organizational structure for your new business. The nature of the organization’s business and the environment the business operates in are factors you must consider. Initially, Sunburst will operate locally, but within five years operations will go national (or international). Read about how you might plan these stages in Creating and Managing a New Business.
In the first part of this project, you will create a narrated PowerPoint presentation for potential investors and partners in your new company. In this presentation, you will analyze the pros and cons of various forms of business and recommend the best legal form of business to achieve your organization’s goals.
In the second part of this project you will design an effective organizational structure for the business at its inception and in its next phase of growth. To achieve this, you’ll need to create one short paper with three sections: (1) a brief mission statement reflecting the primary goals of the business, (2) a detailed organization chart, and (3) a rationale statement that explains and supports, thoroughly but succinctly, the mission statement and structural decisions reflected in the organization chart.
When you submit your project, your work will be evaluated using the competencies listed below. You can use the list below to self-check your work before submission.
1.7: Create neat and professional looking documents appropriate for the project or presentation.
1.8: Create clear oral messages.
2.5: Develop well-reasoned ideas, conclusions or decisions, checking them against relevant criteria and benchmarks.
7.1: Analyze the legal forms of business organization and make recommendations to support business decisions.
9.1: Design organizational structure, systems and processes that support the strategic goals of the organization.
10.4: Make strategic managerial decisions for obtaining capital required for achieving organizational goals.
13.2: Create and implement new initiative or enterprise.
13.3: Create and manage a new enterprise.
Step 1: Determine the Legal Structure of Your Business: Gather and Analyze Information
You go to your office to begin the task at handthe preparation of a narrated PowerPoint presentation to potential investors that will address all of the issues involved in making this decision. For critical background information, see Creating Sunburst: Legal and Organizational Considerations. You will need this information to make the best legal and organizational decisions for your business.
Since one of the investors will not be able to attend a presentation in person, you need to prepare and record a narrated PowerPoint, so she can listen at her convenience. In order to complete this task, you realize that you must do some research to address the legal and strategic implications if your business is to get off the ground.
What types of business organizations are available to entrepreneurs?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative?
What are the two best choices and why?
How would you explain your choices to your investors?
Be sure to discuss the following information in your plan (refer to Legal Forms of Business before you begin writing):
What are the different legal forms of business that you might consider? You remember that there are at least six factors that will influence your choice:
creation and maintenance
continuity
ownership and control
personal liability
compensation and division of profits
taxation
What is your proposed choice for the legal form of business? Include your reasoning based on the preceding six factors and any other relevant factors.
When your research is complete, continue to the next step, in which you will create the Powerpoint presentation for your investors.
Step 2: Prepare Your Presentation
Using the information you gathered in the previous step, prepare a narrated PowerPoint. Because you will not deliver this presentation in person, it should follow the form of asynchronous presentations. Be sure to meet the following requirements:
Include a title slide, with your name on it, introducing the presentation.
On the presentation slides, include only the major bullet points for each issue.
Include no more than 15 slides (not counting title page or references list).
Cover all the elements of your plan as outlined in Step 1.
Use your narration to provide the supporting rationale for each major bullet point.
Include a script of your narration in the notes section of PowerPoint.
The final slide must present a clear summary of your major conclusions and any recommendations.
Include a reference page in APA format citing any sources you used to develop your presentation.
Title your files using this protocol: yourlastname_Business Form_date.
When your presentation is complete, continue to the next step, in which you will gather information about the potential organization structure for your business.
Step 3: Determine Your Organization’s Structure: Gather and Analyze Information
Now that you have decided on a legal organization form for your business, which currently has a single location, you need to decide on an organization structure. Organization structure determines such things as what departments the organization will need, who will report to whom, how many levels you will have in your organization’s hierarchy, and how many individuals will report to each manager (span of control). An effective structure should promote communication and coordination of efforts across the entire organization. See: Organization Structure and Design.
You begin your research by formulating a number of questions, the answers to which will be reflected in a short paper that includes your mission statement, organization chart, and your rationale for these recommendations.
Sunburst’s primary goals are innovation and customer responsiveness. How should your mission statement articulate these goals? How can this statement be drafted so that it is clear, concise, and meaningful to organization stakeholders?
What key tasks must be accomplished in order to meet the organization’s goals? What individuals or groups will have responsibility for delivering these processes or items?
Will individuals have titles and, if so, which individuals? What will those titles be?
To whom will individuals report? Why?
What are the possible impacts of outsourcing the HR function? What are the pros and cons of doing so? Make a recommendation in your paper. If you decide to keep HR in house, make sure its place in your business structure is reflected in your organization chart.
Consider all other relevant factors (for example, will your business structure be functional, centralized, or decentralized, etc.).
When you have formulated your preliminary thoughts and questions, begin your research. The resources below are a good start, but you should also conduct your own research to enhance your knowledge and the final product.
When your research is complete, continue to the next step, in which you will write your short paper, which will include a mission statement, organization chart, and summary of the rationale behind your decisions.
Step 4: Integrate Your Thoughts and Material
You’ve formulated your key questions; you’ve done your research; you’ve analyzed and refined your information and thoughts. Now it’s time to put it all together and start drafting your deliverable.
Assemble a short paper that contains the following:
your mission statement of no more than one paragraph
your organization chart
your rationale, no more than five pages (12 point type, double-spaced), for your chosen mission statement and organization structure as displayed in your chart
Be sure to attribute any sources you use in the creation of any of the documents you submit.
Include a reference page in APA format citing any sources you used in your short paper.
Use the following file naming protocol: yourlastname_organization _date
When your mission statement, organization chart, and rationale statement are complete, continue to the next step, and submit your work.
Step 5: Submit Your Materials
submit the following files to the Structuring a Business folder.
narrated PowerPoint with recommended legal form of business
short paper including mission statement, organization chart, and rationale
Before you submit your assignment, review the competencies below, which your instructor will use to evaluate your work. A good practice would be to use each competency as a self-check to confirm you have incorporated all of them in your work.

Discussion #2
It has been more than 11 years that I have been working as a registered nurse, and yet, I can still remember exactly how I felt after the first time I got pulled to another unit. I had been on my own about a month when I got pulled to the busiest med/surge unit in the hospital. There is no schooling that prepares you for being pulled out of your element, and thrown into an environment where you feel clueless, helpless, intimidated, and scared. I think I cried about 4 times that night, in between round-the-clock pain meds, Q 4 hours antibiotics, and numerous admissions. I remember leaving the hospital the next morning, 2 hours late, and was faced with the aftermath of a blizzard. As I left the building, up to my knees in snow, I headed to my car which I had parked on the street. Physically getting to my car was no easy feat due to the snow. Once I did get to the car and cleaned it off- I couldnt get the car out of the spot and had to wait to be picked up. Even though I could not wait to get home, and shut my mind off for a little while, none of what happened with the snow mattered. In that time after leaving the hospital- nothing compared to the misery I had felt working that night. It was a horrible, stressful, miserable experience that made me question my career choice over and over again. I still remember to this day the overwhelming relief I felt as soon as I walked out of the hospital doors that morning.
The principle of stacking is the cognitive process, or mental to-do list that a nurse creates to promote good decision making and clinical judgments in order to provide and deliver safe, effective, and quality care to patients (Laureate Education, 2013). Effective stacking and the ability to apply it to practice is a concept that is developed through clinical experience and actual provision of care (Ebright, 2010). In my personal experience, the quality of care I delivered that night, as well as the safety of the patients could have been improved by stacking, or cognitively organizing and prioritizing what needed to get done. As an advanced beginner, I mentally listed all of the tasks I had to do throughout my shift, constantly referencing my kardex as Dr. Ebright (2013) said I may. Looking back, at the situation, a proficient or expert nurse would have been able to differentiate between what needed to get done, and what tasks were unnecessary- making the experience less stressful than it was.
A stacking strategy I feel may be helpful in managing the complexity of nursing practice in the ED would be routinization. Developing a routine while delivering care to patients can promote effective time management skills as the repeated and integrated approach to routine situations is successfully implemented (Kohtz, Gowda, & Guede, 2017, p. 18). The advanced practice nurse in the ED setting could utilize routinization as a guide to deliver care in the fast-paced environment, while having the clinical experience and foundation of knowledge necessary to revise the routine if necessary. Having clinical experience in the specialty field of ED nursing, as well as in the environment where care is being delivered is important in promoting positive patient outcomes.

Do you own a car?
This answer is excellent. It addresses specifically why the item is problematic (possible Title VII violation) and provides appropriate replacement verbiage. It is also cited properly to the text since the wording was taken verbatim. The next example is also perfectly fine as the answer is in the students own words (no citation required), and still addresses the specifics of the possible violation and appropriate replacement verbiage.
Use of credit rating questions tend to have an adverse impact on minority group applicants and women and has been found unlawful in some cases. Unless shown to be job-related, questions on car ownership . . . may violate Title VII (Gatewood, Feild, Barrick, 2008, p. 373).
Do you have the use of a reliable car? (if car travel is required by the job (Gatewood, Feild, Barrick, 2008, p. 373).
5
The question about car ownership
This can violate Title VII since it can have an adverse impact on those in a protected class.
We can ask if they have access to a reliable vehicle if it is job related, meaning driving for the job is required.

Cmit 321 executive proposal project – evaluate security
CMIT 321 Executive Proposal Project
The purpose of this project is to evaluate the students ability to research and evaluate security testing software and present a proposal for review by executive team members. By completing the document the student will also gain practical knowledge of the security evaluation documentation and proposal writing process. The project will enable the student to identify and understand the required standards in practice, as well as the details that should be covered within a proposal.
Project Deliverable
· Using the Case Study presented in this document, to complete an executive proposal.
· Provide a three to five page proposal summarizing purpose and benefit of chosen security software to the executive management team.
· The student will evaluate and test security testing software for purposes of testing corporate network security. The purpose of the software is to measure the security posture of the organization by identifying vulnerabilities and help prevent future attacks and deter any real-time unknown threats.
· The proposal should effectively describe the software in a manner that will allow the executive team members to understand the purpose and benefits of the software to approve purchase.
Guidelines
· Evaluate and select a security tool for recommendation that you learned about in the iLabs modules or the EC-Council text books.
· The proposal document must be 3 to 5 pages long, conforming to APA standards. See “Writing Guideline” in WebTycho where you’ll find help on writing for research projects.
· At least three authoritative, outside references are required (anonymous authors or web pages are not acceptable). These should be listed on the last page titled “References.”
· Appropriate citations are required. See the syllabus regarding plagiarism policies.
· This will be graded on quality of research topic, quality of paper information, use of citations, grammar and sentence structure, and creativity.
· The paper is due during Week 7 of this course.
Project Description
The purpose of project is to write an executive proposal for a fictitious company called Advanced Research. The goal of the proposal is to persuade the executive management team to approve purchase of security testing software that can benefit the companys corporate network security by testing and identifying vulnerabilities before they are exploited by hackers. The proposal must include a detailed description of the software, its purpose and benefits.
Suggested Approach
Research a security testing software tool that you practiced using in the EC-Council iLabs or from the textbook.
Determine whether the tool would be beneficial in testing the security of a corporate network.
Use the vendors website to collect necessary information about the tool to be able to explain its purpose and benefit.
Include 3rd party endorsements and case studies about the tool.
Integrate the information from your own experience with the tool into your proposal. This may include results from the iLab exercises or your own test lab.
Company Description
Advanced Research Corporation
Advanced Research is a startup medical research and development company. After five years of extraordinary success in the development of innovative medical and pharmaceutical products, Advanced Research is on its way to becoming a major player in the medical research and development industry. However, due to its success, Advanced Research has also become a major target of cybercriminals. Advanced Research has been the victim of cybercriminal attempts to steal intellectual property and sell it to Advanced Researchs competitors. It is suspected that the corporate network has been infiltrated from unauthorized sources more than once. In 2011, Advanced Research was falsely accused of unethical research and development practices. The false allegations resulted in the defacement of Advanced Researchs public website and several Denial of Service attacks at different times over a 9 month period that brought the corporate network to its knees. These attacks had a major impact on Advanced Researchs ability to conduct business and resulted in undesirable publicity for the company.
Regardless of its security problems, Advanced Research has continued to grow as a company. Its research and development departments have grown over the years, due to the expansion of the company, in proportion to the increase in its business making up over 40% of the human resources. Advanced Researchs innovative research and development information is paramount to its continued success as a company. Although, no known attacks have occurred in last 18 months, the security of its network and intellectual property is still a major concern for the company. Because Advanced Research is a still fairly young company, management has been hesitant to budget for expensive security projects. However, this point of view is beginning to change. Particularly, because one of Advanced Researchs competitors, a major player in the medical research and development industry for over 40 years, experienced a loss of hundreds of millions of dollars in research data that was stolen from its corporate network by cyber thieves.
Background and your role
You are the IT Manager hired in 2012 to manage the physical and operational security of Advanced Researchs corporate information system. You understand information security issues better than anyone else in the company. You also know that the network is vulnerable to outside threats because it has experienced attacks in the past and because you havent had the resources to properly test the corporate information system to identify the vulnerabilities that might exist and take action prevent possible attacks. You have a responsibility to bring these concerns to the attention of the executive team and ask for approval to purchase the necessary testing software.
Your education and training have introduced you to variety of security tools for testing computer and network security. The majority of these tools you either only read about or have practiced using in lab environment. You have decided to research some of these tools and test them out in your own lab environment and choose one for recommendation to executive team.
You will need to present information that proves the chosen tool will be beneficial to the security of corporate information system. To accomplish this you will need to research the product, if possible, test the product in a virtual lab environment. If the tool is part of your iLab exercise, it is recommended that you practice using and testing the tool beyond the scope of the lab exercise. Based on your research and analysis, you will include this information in your proposal in way that the executive staff can understand and allowing them to make an informed decision to approve purchase of the product.
The executive management team of Advanced Research:
The proposal should include:
· Detailed description of the software and benefits.
· Include reviews, case studies and customer recommendations
· Include your own hands-on experience with the tool and test results
· Cost of product. Include additional costs such as training or hardware software that might be needed in order to properly deploy manage and maintain the software.
· How will the software impact the production environment? For example, the software may test for Denial of Service attacks. You need to explain any interruptions the test may have on business operations. You need to justify the need for such a test. Also explain how to you plan to minimize or prevent possible production outages.
The software should test for one or more of the following types of attacks:
· Denial of Service (DoS)
· Cross Site Scripting (XSS)
· Authentication Bypass
· Directory Traversal
· Session Management
· SQL injection
· Database Attacks
· Password Attacks
· Firewall/Router Attacks
· Operating System Attacks
Corporate Office Network Topology
The Advanced Research main research and development facility is located in Reston Virginia. You have concerns about the sensitive information that is stored at this location as well as data that transmitted over the WAN to Advanced Researchs New York City headquarters location, business partners and clients. The Reston facility is also where the Advanced Research data center is located. The data center is where Advanced Researchs public website, email, databases and corporate intranet are hosted. The environment contains a mix of Microsoft and *NIX technologies.

Comprehensive Career Program
As an in-home health counselor there are a plethora of client needs that must be addressed including rehabilitation into the workplace and career planning. Because the clientele can be any age or multiple members within a family unit the program plan must be versatile as well as developmental in order to meet the needs of different age range and diverse clients. The program overall will involve needs, interest and personality based assessments, skills overview, and, education and assistance for career-decision making.
Program Planning
The counselors will need to plan the program by developing a curriculum with the goal of achieving identity in the areas of self, social and functionality. (McKinnon & Jones, 1975) Achieving this goal involves administering various assessments, utilizing career education techniques, knowledge and advocacy of different, appropriate, career paths. Due to the wide age range of clients it is essential that the counselor have knowledge of the lifespan and the coinciding developmental stages in order to utilize age appropriate career counseling strategy. (Zunker, 2016) Program will feature:
-Personality Assessment (MBTI)
-Needs Assessment
-Interest Assessment (O*NET)
-Vocational/employment History
-Educational history
-Goal Setting
– Career/Education Options Exploration
-Action Plan
-Personal Counseling to facilitate development of Identity
– Vocational/ Educational Placement
Organizational Needs
Since the program is home-based, in addition to needing competent counselors, they must have a valid drivers license, and, a safe and reliable vehicle in order to travel to client homes as well as occasionally transport clients for therapeutic reasons. Additionally, the counselors will need to obtain consent in order to consult with educators of student clients.
Implementation
McKinnon & Jones (1975) suggest beginning with a needs-based assessment to assess client vocational needs such as interest designation or educational deficits. It is also suggested that the counselor have a collaborative effort with the educators of any youth clients. The program will be implemented with the goal of career education. McKinnon & Jones (1975) define career education broadly as assisting an individual in the total process of becoming. Furthermore McKinnon & Jones (1975) outline career education with 5 themes; solving problems, understanding self and others, understanding the world, obtaining skills and experience, and, achieving identity (self, social and functional).
Once the client needs are assessed the counselors will also administer personality (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) and interest based assessments (O*NET) in order to gather a holistic client picture. If the clients are students then this will be the time for counselors to consult with the coinciding educators in order to gather information about client strengths and deficits. (McKinnon & Jones, 1975) For adult clients, this will be the time to gather vocational history and, past work experience, in order evaluate strengths and deficits. Once the information is collected, the counselor will explore career options and develop goals with the client in effort to promote career education and develop a comprehensive identity (self, social and functional).
Administrative Needs
The program needs at least 8-10 home health counselors that are familiar and eligible to administer and score assessments. These assessments also needs to have the ability to be performed and scored in a home setting as many of the in home therapy clients are homebound. The counselors also need to have a knowledge base and advocate for home-based careers and/or education such as online options as some clients may be permanently homebound.
Criteria For Evaluation
The main criteria for evaluation will be in both client survey and job placement statistics. Clients whom are able to successfully enroll in an educational setting, a vocational training setting or a work setting/career will be tallied and measured against the client pool in order to gauge success.

Some of the other goals for the curriculum include bringing in successful graduates from the local high schools who are interested in speaking to the youth about their life choices and decisions while being products of the school and/or neighborhood. These conversations will include the sway each person had about positive decision-making skills, substance-related concerns; connecting sexual awareness to their life trajectories, and even creating mentors within the school that also reach out to the students families in the community. This will assist individuals in becoming accountable for each other while promoting overall self-awareness for the students.
