A mother brings her 6-month-old daughter to the HCP for evaluation of possible colic. The mother says the baby has had many episodes of crying after eating and, despite having a good appetite, is not gaining weight. The mother says the baby’s belly “gets all swollen sometimes.” The mother says the baby tastes “salty” when the mother kisses the baby. Further work up reveals a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis. The mother relates that her 23-month-old son has had multiple episodes of “chest congestion” and was hospitalized once for pneumonia. The mother wants to know what cystic fibrosis is and she also wants to know if she should have any more children. Post an explanation of the disease highlighted in the scenario you were provided. Include the following in your explanation: The role genetics plays in the disease. Why the patient is presenting with the specific symptoms described. The physiologic response to the stimulus presented in the scenario and why you think this response occurred.

nternational Joint Venture Anheuser- Busch, the producer of Budweiser and other beers, expanded into Japan by engaging in a joint venture with Kirin Brewery, the largest brewery in Japan. The joint venture enabled Anheuser- Busch to have its beer distributed through Kirin’s distribution channels in Japan. In addition, it could utilize Kirin’s facilities to produce beer that would be sold locally. In return, Anheuser- Busch provided information about the American beer market to Kirin.  a. Explain how the joint venture enabled Anheuser- Busch to achieve its objective of maximizing share-holder wealth.  b. Explain how the joint venture limited the risk of the international business.

21. Valuation of Wal- Mart’s International Business In addition to all of its stores in the United States, Wal- Mart has 13 stores in Argentina, 302 stores in Brazil, 289 stores in Canada, 73 stores in China, 889 stores in Mexico, and 335 stores in the United Kingdom. Overall, it has 2,750 stores in foreign countries. Consider the value of Wal- Mart as being composed of two parts, a U. S. part ( due to business in the United States) and a non- U. S. part ( due to business in other countries). Explain how to determine the present value ( in dollars) of the non- U. S. part assuming that you had access to all the details of Wal- Mart businesses outside the United States.
22. Impact of International Business on Cash Flows and Risk Nantucket Travel Agency specializes in tours for American tourists. Until recently, all of its business was in the United States. It just established a subsidiary in Athens, Greece, which provides tour services in the Greek islands for American tourists. It rented a shop near the port of Athens. It also hired residents of Athens who could speak English and provide tours of the Greek islands. The subsidiary’s main costs are rent and salaries for its employees and the lease of a few large boats in Athens that it uses for tours. American tourists pay for the entire tour in dollars at Nantucket’s main U. S. office before they depart for Greece. a. Explain why Nantucket may be able to effectively capitalize on international opportunities such as the Greek island tours. b. Nantucket is privately owned by owners who reside in the United States and work in the main office. Explain possible agency problems associated with the creation of a subsidiary in Athens, Greece. How can Nantucket attempt to reduce these agency costs?  Greece’s cost of labor and rent are relatively low. Explain why this information is relevant to Nantucket’s decision to establish a tour business in Greece. d. Explain how the cash flow situation of the Greek tour business exposes Nantucket to exchange rate risk. Is Nantucket favorably or unfavorably affected when the euro ( Greece’s currency) appreciates against the dollar? Explain. e. Nantucket plans to finance its Greek tour business. Its subsidiary could obtain loans in euros from a bank in Greece to cover its rent, and its main office could pay off the loans over time. Alternatively, its main office could borrow dollars and would periodically con-vert dollars to euros to pay the expenses in Greece. Does either type of loan reduce the exposure of Nan-tucket to exchange rate risk? Explain. f. Explain how the Greek island tour business could expose Nantucket to country risk.
27. Exposure of MNCs to Exchange Rate Movements Arlington Co. expects to receive 10 million euros in each of the next 10 years. It will need to obtain 2 million Mexican pesos in each of the next 10 years. The euro exchange rate is presently valued at $ 1.38 and is expected to depreciate by 2 percent each year over time. The peso is valued at $. 13 and is expected to depreciate by 2 percent each year over time. Review the valuation equation for an MNC. Do you think that the exchange rate movements will have a favorable or unfavorable effect on the MNC?

In the late 19th century, the Berlin Museum, which then owned the Ghent Altarpiece, separated the painted fronts of these panels from their backs, which were also painted, by sawing them apart. This harsh measure was intended to facilitate the exhibition of the panels and their inspection by an art-loving public. But it also served to obscure the fact that the panels were created as ecclesiastical objects for display in a church, not as simply works of art. Is there something wrong with the display of religious objects as art? Did the museum mistreat the Ghent Altarpiece by facilitating its public display, or should religious art be displayed like other works of art? Why or why not?

The purpose of this assignment is to help improve the quality of the Key Assignment Draft you will complete next week.

This is next weeks key assignment: I only need an outline today.

You work for an international construction company that has been contracted to build the tallest skyscraper in the world in Rio De Janeiro. The financing is coming from Dubai, the materials are coming from China, the engineering and technology are coming from Germany, and the labor will be hired locally with management from the United States. You invite all of the players to the headquarters in the United States for a big meeting to explain the project and get to know one another. The people seem to be staying with their own groups and not mingling.

What is the cultural phenomenon here?
How do you explain the lack of intercultural communication?
What do you know about these cultures-specifically their economic, political, educational, and social systems-that could help you in getting them together?
What are some of the contrasting cultural values of these countries?

You are concerned about some of the language issues as you start the meeting, particularly the fact that the United States is a low-context country, and some of the countries present are high-context countries. Furthermore, you only speak English, and you do not have an interpreter present.

How will this affect the presentation?
What are some of the issues you should be concerned about regarding verbal and nonverbal language for this group?
What strategy would you use to begin to have everyone develop a relationship with each other that will help ease future negotiations, development, and implementation?

part 2:

I also need another outline for this one:
