Describe and discuss one of the skills and strategies for sharing information about trauma.

FLIP Discussion ActivityA married 28-year-old mother of two young children is brought to a local hospital emergency room (ER) by her husband for treatment of a fractured right arm. She has completed 2 years of college, but currently does not work so that she can care for her children. Her husband’s employment requires that he travel for weeks at a time. She reports that this afternoon she tripped over some of the children’s toys in the living room and that is how she broke her arm. As the nurse assists the physician, she notes several bruises in various stages of healing on the woman’s extremities. It is documented in her record that the patient was treated in the ER 1 year ago for a fractured nose and facial contusions. At that time the patient stated she had fallen while chasing the neighbor’s dog out of her flowerbeds. She also reported being clumsy. The patient guards her arm and winces with any movement. During the assessment, the husband insists on staying with the patient. The patient’s affect is anxious, displays poor eye contact, and flinches when the husband stands close to her. X-rays of the patient’s right arm show a spiral fracture of the humerus. You are able to speak to her privately after her X-ray in the radiologists office.Working in pairs, consider Appendices 3 – 6 of the Trauma-Informed Practice Guide. Each student is to take a turn at answering 2 of the 4 questions (all questions must be answered), respond in Flip to the following questions (maximum 7-8min):Refer to Appendix 3 and provide two communication examples of what you would say to engage this client in an interview. Why did you choose these techniques?. Describe and discuss one of the skills and strategies for sharing information about trauma (Appendix 5).

Explain why you agree or disagree with what they said.

Respond to each student’s discussion. Explain why you agree or disagree with what they said. Over the last few years, one trillion dollars waging the war on drugs. Thirty million arrests and millions of imprisonments have occurred in the United States (Farber, 2021). Not only is the price of incarceration high, “excessive use of incarceration as a drug control measure which the experts identify as the biggest contributions to higher rates of HIV and Hepatitis C infection among drug users (Farber, 2021)”. Incarceration of individuals for substance use impacts public health exposures to HIV and Hepatitis C infection as it has been proven to correlate with incarceration rates due to drug use (Farber, 2021).As the legalization of cannabis decreased, technical violations of probation resulted in “Lesser overdose deaths and lesser HIV infections among the user has plummeted (Ingraham, 2016). In Portugal, the decriminalization process has long-term benefits such: as courts being freed up for other important work, substance abuse has been cut in half since decriminalization, and recovery in rehab being more likely than in jail (UHS Admin, 2020). In addition, addiction treatment and rehabilitation are less expensive than incarceration, and productive members of society much more quickly than convicted felons’ counter-cultural drug use are changed when seen as a disease versus crime (UHS Admin, 2020).Policy such as legalizing cannabis significantly decreases incarceration rates and the criminal justice system. According to Farber, “the war on drugs has become good politics (2021)”. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, If the U.S government decriminalized drugs, 45.2% of the prison population would be released from prison (2022). If the U.S government decriminalized drugs, politicians would not have a point of argument as substance use has been a primary argument between republicans and democrats in the United States. Also, the decriminalization of substances would support individuals to get social supports in hopes of recovery being more attainable as a result.ReferencesFarber, D. (2021, June 17). Pros and cons of decriminalizing drug addiction. Foundations Recovery Network. Retrieved November 13, 2022, from https://www.foundationsrecoverynetwork.com/pros-and-cons-of-decriminalizing-drug-addiction/Student 2: I think that policies affect incarceration rates and criminal justice reform by reducing some of the stigmatization associated with the targeted population of marginalized communities and people of color. The criminalization of cannabis has sparked racial disparities in drug law enforcement, particularly in the United States (Ingraham, 2016). Decriminalization is not the same as legalization and many hold polarizing views about this. Criminal justice reform can help remove some of the barriers and inequality in drug conviction sentencing among marginalized groups. In Portugal, possession, and use of drugs are handled as a public health problem and not criminal activity (Ingraham, 2016). People who have SUD have an increased chance of success when substance use is treated as a public health concern instead of a criminal act. Since Portugal has treated substance use as a health concern and decriminalized substance use addiction rates have been cut in half over the past decade (Ingraham, 2016). I do not think that the fear of criminal charges has deterred people who have a substance use disorder, nor do I believe or have found evidence that this policy would entice people to be more likely to experiment. Criminal justice reform could lead to removing barriers to employment, new opportunities for people of color, and a countercultural essence of drug use being changed when society sees it as a disease and not a crime.ReferenceIngraham, C. How do these new ideas impact that argument?

In this module, we will explore two or more sources to help us think about Jordan’s essay, from a different perspective: Kimberlé Crenshaw’s TED Talk on Intersectionality and Audre Lorde’s essay There Is No Hierarchy of Oppression. In this discussion forum, you should relate the ideas of either Crenshaw or Lorde to Jordan. What relationship do you see between the ideas that the authors present? Consider the argument that you will make for your essay due at the end of this module. How do these new ideas impact that argument? Where do their ideas support what you have made of Jordan? Please find the attachment for the readings and the video link is here.https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Crenshaw%2c+K.+(2016%2c+October).+The+Urgency+of+Intersectionality.+%5bVideo+file%5d.+YouTube.+https%3a%2f%2fwww.ted.com%2ftalks%2fkimberle_crenshaw_the_urgency_of_intersectionality&view=detail&mid=F9E05F084A3860DAB4B1F9E05F084A3860DAB4B1&FORM=VIRE

Consider how well the policy has met the needs of your target population and to what extent it improves the social justice problem you initially researched.

Policy AnalysisAssignment OverviewThis assignment builds on the previous components of this research project, where you identified a social problem and selected a federal policy that affects it. THE LAST ANALYSIS I DID WAS ON NATIVE AMERICANS SO I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT WITHIN A FEDERAL POLICY RELATED TO NATIVE AMERICANSOnce social workers have located a policy that addresses a social problem, the next step is to analyze the policy’s development and potential impacts. In other words, does the policy resolve or mitigate the issue? Looking at China’s one-child policy, you would want to know whether it is indeed reducing fertility rates. Next, you would want to know if the policy has any unintended consequences that must also be addressed. For example, China’s one-child policy has led to significant labor shortages in the country.By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following EPAs and practice behaviors:Competency 5: Engage in Policy PracticeC5.GP.A: Identify social policy at the local, state, and federal level that impacts well-being, service delivery, and access to social service.Related Assignment Criterion:1. Analyze the development of the chosen policy.Competency 5: Engage in Policy PracticeC5.GP.B: Assess how social welfare and economic policies impact the delivery of and access to social services.Related Assignment Criteria:2. Evaluate the effectiveness of the policy with respect to the target population.3. Evaluate the feasibility of the policy.Competency 5: Engage in Policy PracticeC5.GP.C: Apply critical thinking to analyze, formulate, and advocate for policies that advance human rights and social, economic, and environmental justice.Related Assignment Criterion:4. Identify the policy constraints that inhibit the policy from fully addressing the problem for the chosen population.Assignment DescriiptionIn this assignment, you will analyze the federal policy you chose to address your social justice issue, including providing background of the development of the policy and evaluating its effectiveness and feasibility. Remember that the feasibility of a policy relates not only to its economic feasibility, but also to its political and social impact. You will also identify the policy constraints that inhibit the policy from most effectively reaching your targeted population.Continue to consult Congress.gov, the Government Accountability Office, public policy analysis research and reports, and other peer-reviewed research to support your analysis. Also, use the NASW Code of Ethics Web page to guide your analysis.Assignment InstructionsFor this assignment:Analyze the development of your chosen federal policy.Analyze the historical background that led to the development of the policy.Define the goals of the policy and how these goals are intended to be met, including services and programs intended to achieve the goals.Evaluate the effectiveness of the policy with respect to the target population.Consider how well the policy has met the needs of your target population and to what extent it improves the social justice problem you initially researched. Does the policy seem to ignore, impede, or strengthen the social functioning of the target population? To what extent does the policy meet or improve the social values of the target population? To what extent does the policy adhere to best practice ethics and best practice standards? If the outcome of your analysis is that best practice ethics and standards are not being adhered to, include that information in your analysis as well.Evaluate the feasibility of the policy. Is the policy politically, economically, and administratively feasible? Provide details and rationale.Identify the policy constraints that inhibit the policy from fully addressing the problem for the chosen population. Have other constraints arisen since the passage of the policy that have made conditions worse or better for the chosen population?GuidelinesSupport your claims and recommendation with clear rationale and support from scholarly, peer-reviewed literature.Refer to the scoring guide that will be used to grade your work, before completing this assignment.Reference feedback you received from the previous assignment to improve the quality of your submission. Further feedback from this project component will help you improve your work for the final Federal Policy Analysis and Recommendations course project.Example assignment: You may use the assignment example, linked in the Resources, to give you an idea of what a Proficient or higher rating on the scoring guide would look like.

Analyze a conflict between two ethical principles (other than justice) that could occur regarding the priority of whom receives a ventilator.

For this assignment you are to write a 3-4 page paper (excluding the title and reference page) in proper APA style. Please do not exceed 4 pages for the paper. Grading will cease at the end of page 4. To earn full credit for this assignment you will need to address all the items in the grading rubric located in My Grades. Late papers will not be accepted. Check the course schedule for the due date for the paper. You need to have a proper title page, use in-text citation for sources of information used in the paper, and a reference list page. It is expected that you will use pertinent information from at least 2 sources outside of the textbook and reference them properly. Please review the plagiarism powerpoint in the week one folder. Using information in your paper without a citation is plagiarism and may result in 0/150 regardless of intent.Your paper must include a short discussion of case study. This is a fictional case which offers you some latitude in the case details. Your introduction can be very brief but it is needed to introduce the reader to the topic. Briefly develop some options for using ventilators as a scarce resource during the stress of a pandemic. Include in your paper an ethical theory that would support your plan.Identify the ethical principles involved in this study and where they came into conflict. This is the opportunity to present the ethical argument in your discussion of the ethical principles. Be sure to include all the principles that apply in this issue to earn full points. The ANA code of ethics has valuable guidance to navigate decision making. Identify at least 2 provisions of the ANA code and apply them to the case study. You will need to present an opposing view to your position. As part of an ethical argument the opposing view will need to be supported by an ethical theory or principle. Part of the ethical argument should include a refutation of the opposing view. Also, address the legal issue of malpractice as required by the grading rubric.Have a concise conclusion to your paper that does not introduce new ideas or information but summarizes what was discussed in the paper. Please proofread your work for grammar and spelling errors. A great way to improve the flow of a paper is to read it out loud. Often when we read our work silently we insert words where they are missing or do not hear the awkwardness of a particular sentence. And most importantly, review the grading rubric before beginning and submitting the assignment.Ventilator Case StudyThe following case study is borrowed from a collection of case studies published in 2011.Allocating Mechanical Ventilators During a Severe Influenza PandemicMarilee LeBon is an infectious disease nurse with a special interest in bioethics. She hasserved for years on her hospital’s ethics committee and recently volunteered to representthe hospital on a statewide committee meeting to develop guidelines for allocatingmechanical ventilators during a severe influenza pandemic. She understands that during asevere pandemic of influenza, many patients with respiratory failure who are able toreceive mechanical ventilation may survive, while patients with respiratory failure who donot receive mechanical ventilation are likely to die. Importantly, it is possible that in theevent of a severe pandemic of influenza, many hospitals and other healthcare facilities willnot have adequate numbers of ventilators to support a major disaster response. If a scarcity of ventilators occurs during a severe influenza pandemic, ventilators wouldneed to be allocated according to different guidelines than during usual clinical care.During a public health emergency, there will be competing priorities for ventilator use frompatients whose need for a ventilator is unrelated to influenza, including the need forchronic ventilator use. In addition, decisions will need to be made regarding whetherpatients should be removed from a ventilator to make way for others who may have abetter chance of recovery and whether there should be suspension of nonemergency surgicalprocedures that might create a need for ventilator therapy.Ms. LeBon’s first challenge is to work on a subcommittee charged with articulating theethical framework they will use. Address the following questions / prompts in your paper:1. What role should the ethical principle of justice play in dictating who should get access to the scarce ventilator therapy?2. Analyze a conflict between two ethical principles (other than justice) that could occur regarding the priority of whom receives a ventilator.3. Apply deontology and utilitarianism to the case study to support an ethical argument.4. Apply at least two provisions of the ANA Code of Ethics to aid Marilee in decision making.

Describe the main expected technological developments in your chosen industry in the next five to ten years.

This can be a start-up, a large company, a small specialized supplier, an NGO, a department in the public administration. You are free in your choice, as long as you chose a real organization. The only exception is if you are proposing a new start-up. Be mindful that choosing a start-up gives you more freedom to develop your ideas, but it is also riskier as you will have less information on which to rely.MY PART:2. Write an argument essay in which you take a stand for or against the assertion that prisons exist so that “politicians can sell the illusion that permanently exiling people to prison will make society safe”

Read “Why Prisons Don’t Work”. See attachment to read.Write an argument essay in which you take a stand for or against the assertion that prisons exist so that “politicians can sell the illusion that permanently exiling people to prison will make society safe” (Rideau 150). You should write a well-designed and logical argument in which you take a stand based on this essay and your own scholarly research. For example, you may take the position that prisons do keep society safe, or you may take the position that prisons do not keep society safe. Remember that an effective argument recognizes all sides of an issue. Therefore, your essay should first support your assertion (in the first two body paragraphs). Then, in the last body paragraph, before you conclusion, you should recognize this opposition and either (1) concede the argument or (2) offer a counterpoint.Because this discussion board counts as the argument essay, you must include at least two scholarly sources from SFFC’s databases. You may also reference Rideau’s essay in our course textbook. Be sure to use parenthetical citations for any references to your sources. At the bottom of your post, you should include a works cited list of your sources. Be sure to use MLA formatting for this.Once you have written your argument post, write a well-crafted, thoughtful, and detailed response to the post of at least one other student. You must first submit your post before you can respond to your classmates’ posts. This assignment requires that your original post be at least 500 words long. Posts that are more detailed and use extensive research (and, therefore, perhaps longer) may earn higher grades. However, do not assume that simply writing more words improve your post score; the content of the post will be considered as well. Finally, because this is a formal writing assignment, you should use your best writing. Points will be deducted for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and citation errors; however, because this is a post, these errors cannot be marked. There is a student sample of an argument paper in the content area of Brightspace. This sample will help you understand the formatting for an argument essay.
