Issues During Construction, develop a graphic, poster, or flow chart that describes the process of construction from the acceptance of the award to the final payment. Include a brief description of each stage of the process in your graphic, and indicate which project player is (or may be) responsible for each element. Not every ‘stage’ of construction happens every time–consider including some information that denotes the conditions that may change the process. Use software or a style of communication that makes the most sense to you, but make sure your graphic is legible and easy to follow. Consider adding a legend if you use a lot of symbols. Research & Discussion: In Module 4, you watched a lecture about productivity (rates and indices) and completed a number of exercising exploring how productivity rates factor into schedule (e.g., durations) and how productivity indices can be used to evaluate both schedule and cost performance. This week, you will have read two papers that explore two factors–high-temperature outdoor workers and extended overtime–that impact construction productivity.
For this discussion, pick another factor (other than the two you explored in the readings) that you believe would impact the productivity of construction workers and do some research to see if you can find a study or report that describes how that factor impacts productivity. For inspiration, I have included a slide from Module 4 that lists a few general categories of factors or conditions that may impact productivity. Without a doubt, today’s healthcare students, and all variations of clinical practitioners, are EXPECTED to be knowledgeable in, comfortable with, and at the very least open to learning how to apply ever-advancing technology as an essential element of patient care delivery. While some clinicians–and even administrators–argue that today’s healthcare providers are unwittingly substituting compassion and empathy with various virtual forms of patient care, high-tech, and Wi-Fi devices, many of you may have chosen healthcare BECAUSE you wanted to directly connect with patients as human beings, not virtual ones.
