Establish and apply clear criteria for judging the restaurant, coffee shop, etc.. What, exactly, will you be judging?
Your next paper is a REVIEW! You get to go out into the world and patronize an establishment that offers a service. PLEASE READ the following assignment sheet carefully:
English 1101 ~ Writing Assignment #2: Review Assignment (3 to 4 pages in length)
For this assignment you will be evaluating a local business and writing up your assessment of the establishment in a review paper. Please do not review a movie, book, CD, or product for this assignment. Choose a place that offers a service to its customers, such as a restaurant, a retail store, or a public library.
A review always includes both the good and the bad aspects of the establishment and tells an audience what they can expect if they go there. Most reviews will also include examples of how the business measures up to its competition. When appropriate, you should include comparisons to other similar businesses in your review.
Please choose one of the following options for this paper (if you’d like to write a review about a business that’s not on this list, please e-mail your idea to me for approval):
restaurant (ideally, not a chain) library
coffee shop fitness or sports center
bowling alley hair salon tanning salon, nail salon
grocery store movie theater clothing store
auto repair shop retail store
**Note: Most students end up writing a restaurant review for this assignment, so most of my examples are about restaurants.
Introduction:
Your introduction should tell your reader where the establishment is located, what type of business the establishment falls under (retail shop, restaurant, etc…) and include a thesis statement. Your thesis statement needs to make an overall claim about the kind of experience one could have at your chosen place of business.
When writing a review, it is very important to establish clear criteria to use when judging an establishment. You will need to introduce these standards in your paper (in the introduction or thesis statement) and argue whether or not the establishment meets your standards of judgment.
Body:
Each of the individual points you are analyzing will need to be fully developed, with specific information, descriptions, examples, and possibly a comparison to another similar establishment. If you are writing a restaurant review, for instance, under the section for quality of food, you could include taste, temperature, presentation, overall food rating, and a brief comparison to a similar menu item at a competing restaurant.
Conclusion:
Your conclusion should address your reading audience. What do you want them to do with this information?
Notes:
1. Establish and apply clear criteria for judging the restaurant, coffee shop, etc.. What, exactly, will you be judging?
2. Separate your own emotional response from your job as a critic. You need to be objective in your review. You would not, for instance, want to say, “I always go to Atomic Coffee, and I love it; therefore, the coffee shop deserves the grade of “A.”
3. Give the establishment an overall grade (A, B, C, D, or F) and justify your rating. **You can be creative here (three out of four forks; nine out of ten bowling pins, etc…). The overall rating is found at the end of the paper (see #9, below)
4. Use engaging language to write your review. Use colorful adjectives and adverbs to describe elements of your review.
5. Include comparisons when appropriate. Remember, your audience has never been to the restaurant or coffee shop, so you should provide them with comparisons to places they are familiar with.
6. Please do not review a place where you have been (or currently are) employed. Remember, you will need to be objective when you write your review, and often, employees can’t be objective about the place where they work.
7. If you use the same language as found in the menu, enclose the borrowed words in quotation marks.
8. This paper needs to be written entirely by you. Do not access the internet for any ideas or phrases. Doing so is plagiarism.
Post an explanation of the role of variance analysis in managerial decision making
Several tools are available to managers to assist them in evaluating organizational performance, one of them being variance analysis. Variance analysis compares actual costs and quantities with standard costs and quantities. The results from a variance analysis are important for helping managers control costs (price variances) and identify areas where organizational performance and efficiency can be improved (quantity variances). In this Discussion, you will use an example from your professional career to consider the role of variance analysis in the decision-making processes for an organization.
To prepare for this Discussion:
· Consider the role of variance analysis in decision making and how understanding variances, both favorable and unfavorable, might help contribute to improved organizational efficiency.
· Identify an example from your professional career in which both highly favorable and unfavorable variances occurred.
Post an explanation of the role of variance analysis in managerial decision making, to include the following: (the assignment should be 300 words or more)
· Describe an example from your professional career in which both highly favorable and unfavorable variances occurred.
· Identify what stakeholders were most affected by these variances.
· Explain how understanding these variances could have helped you as a manager in this situation to make better decisions.

What is the equilibrium price and quantity in this bond market?
Consider the demand and supply equation for one-year discount bonds with a face value of $990:
Demand: Price = -0.5 * Quantity + 1200
Supply: Price = Quantity + 300
What is the equilibrium price and quantity in this bond market? What is the implied interest rate on the one-year discount bond?
Suppose a foreign government buys 100 bonds from this bond market. Derive the new bond demand equation after the foreign government’s bond purchase. Assume the bond supply equation does not change. What is the new equilibrium price, equilibrium quantity, and implied interest rate in this bond market? (for price and quantity, keep one decimal place; for interest rate, keep three decimal places if your write your result in general number format or keep one decimal place if your write your result in percentage format)
In 2021, the US stock market’s average dividend-price ratio was 1.4%, the investors expected that the average dividends would grow by 4% a year in the future, and the 10-year treasury bond yield (risk-free interest rate) was 1.5%. What was the implied risk premium on the US stocks in 2021?
Suppose at the end of 2022, investors find that the US stock market’s average dividend-price ratio rises to 2% and the 10-year treasury bond yield rises to 3%; analysts find that the risk premium on the US stocks rises to 5% and expect the future inflation rate will be 4.5%. Given the information and assume that the investors expect the US stock dividends will grow at the same rate as nominal GDP in the future, what real GDP growth rate should the investors expect the US economy to have?
Suppose the US economy experiences a recession in 2023. However, the Federal Reserve decides to hold the money supply constant. Draw a graph for the bond market to illustrate the effect of economic recession on the bond market. In your graph, label both axes and all curves, and indicate clearly how the equilibrium price and quantity should change. Explain the reasoning behind the movement of bond demand and supply and the change in equilibrium price and quantity in your graph. Make sure you use all information provided above. (You can either draw the graph using word drawing tools or draw it by hand and then take a picture)

Analyze how patient satisfaction and experience measures contribute to goal setting and improvement in healthcare organizations
Leading Organization Quality Improvement 5th week
Week 5: The Patient’s Experience in Healthcare
For every action, there is a reaction, and among the reactions to the increased interest in patient experience has been skepticism about the measures and their importance. Providers worry that the measures reflect “hotel functions” rather than determinants of patients’ health outcomes.
—Nash et al., 2019, p. 236
Whether from a survey, panel, or individual interviews, collecting and measuring data about patient experience is not an easy task, or a task without controversy. There are many schools of thought concerning the best way to approach analyzing the patient experience, and there are many methods and measures used to analyze the patient experience.
This week, you will explore the measurement and analysis of the patient experience. In your reading and Discussion, you will examine the use of scorecards and dashboards for patient satisfaction. You will also consider the strengths and weaknesses of using these measurement devices and evaluate their impact on patient care and satisfaction.

Learning Objectives
Students will:
• Analyze healthcare organization scorecards and dashboards for patient satisfaction
• Summarize patient satisfaction and experience measures for a healthcare organization
• Contrast patient satisfaction and experience measures for healthcare organizations
• Analyze how patient satisfaction and experience measures contribute to goal setting and improvement in healthcare organizations
• Evaluate impact of patient satisfaction and experience measures on organizational performance
Discussion: Measurement Systems and Methods
You are a DNP-prepared nurse working at a hospital focused on improving patient satisfaction. After receiving care at your hospital, patients are provided a scorecard to survey their patient experience. The patient surveys range in questions from wait time to effectiveness of care, and these surveys provide your hospital with a scorecard indicating how the hospital is performing against these metrics. Upon reviewing the scorecards, you are able to highlight areas of improvement and areas of success, however, you find the responses are often difficult to analyze, as there are a wide range of responses, and there are many variables.
The process of constructing a balanced scorecard for the tracking of patient satisfaction can be controversial. For example, a hospital’s patient satisfaction scorecard provides a snapshot of gathered data for the hospital, but the data may be out of context, which makes it difficult to identify specific problems. It is evident that both scorecards and dashboards have a place in the healthcare setting; however, will all organizations and accrediting bodies agree on the aspects of implementation, data analysis, and levels of effectiveness?
For this Discussion, you will explore key indicators involved with the use of scorecards and dashboards for tracking organizational performance. Reflect on a particular healthcare organization or nursing practice with an established scorecard or dashboard measuring patient experience.
To Prepare:
• Review the Learning Resources for this week, and reflect on how a healthcare organization or nursing practice setting uses scorecards and dashboards.
• Select any healthcare organization or nursing practice setting that has an established scorecard or dashboard measuring patient experience and improvement goals.
• Be sure to obtain an example of the scorecard or dashboard from the healthcare organization or nursing practice setting (you selected) for this Discussion.
• Reflect on how these measurement systems and measurement methods may impact organizational goal setting in the areas of overall performance and financial stability.
• Explore the key indicators involved with scorecards and dashboards, as well as the external quality standards to which they are compared.
• Reflect on what the metrics used in the balanced scorecards and dashboards might mean to your specific organization and/or nursing practice. Has your organization established goals for these or similar metrics and are they currently being met? Why, or why not?
By Day 3 of Week 5
Post a brief descriiption of the healthcare organization or nursing practice setting you selected. Summarize the measures on the scorecard or dashboard in which patient experience of care is measured, tracked, and used to set improvement goals. Be specific. Explain whether goals at your organization are established, for these metrics you reviewed, and whether or not they are currently being met. Then, describe the potential impacts of meeting or not meeting these metrics for your healthcare organization, and explain why. Be specific and provide examples.
By Day 6 of Week 5
Read a selection of your colleagues’ responses and respond to at least two of your colleagues on two different days by expanding upon your colleague’s post or offering an alternative interpretation of the patient experience measures described by your colleague as they might relate to your specific practice or organization.

How do should the issues described in the case study and TED talk affect IHRM in MNEs?
Today, for most firms, it is still important to be located near your customers. But in the global war for talent, it may be equally important to be located in the best place to attract the high performers and specialists your business needs. Over the last few years, specific locations around the world have arisen as preferred places to live and work. High-talent employees can live in locales that enable them to find the work they want while they create the work – life balance that meets their current needs and still be near to others like themselves. So, where are such places? As it turns out, people don ’ t look so much at countries as they do at cities, and often it is small cities that provide the lifestyles they are looking for. For example, it includes Groningen, a small town in the north of the Netherlands, and Eindhoven, another small town — but major business location — in the Netherlands. Of course, the traditional, popular cities continue to have appeal, but there are also new areas — in every region of the world — that are attracting the talent that today ’ s MNEs need. In Europe, this would include an area marked on the map by a gentle curve drawn from Barcelona, across southern France, northern Italy, Switzerland, and southern Germany, an area that already boasts the highest per capita income in the world. The big cities of interest in Europe still include Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Nice, Berlin, Milan, Dublin, and Zurich. In Asia, these cities would include Sydney and Brisbane, Auckland, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangalore and Mumbai, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai. In the Americas these cities would include Toronto Vancouver, Canada, Boston, Denver, Silicon Valley and San Francisco, and Seattle/ Portland, US, Monterrey, Mexico, and S ã o Paulo, Brazil. If a global firm cannot find talent where its customers want them to relocate, then maybe it needs to figure out where the talent is and go there. And compounding the problems in the search for global talent is the interest by today ’ s technology-savvy millennials to just work from home — wherever home may be — in an open, collaborative way — with colleagues and customers, wherever they may be.
