Discussion Board Topic 4: Texas Air Quality

COLLAPSE

Top of Form

Texas is the only state that refuses to follow the Clean Air Act, citing that to do so would greatly hurt our economy, cost Texan’s their jobs and raise the costs of goods produced here in Texas.  As a fellow Texan, or at least current Texas resident, how does this make you feel about the quality of the air you breathe in this state?  What are environmental concerns associated with not complying with the Clean Air Act? What are concerns for future generations of Texans?  Should Texas comply with the Clean Air Act or should we establish our own pollution standards, even if the EPA says they are not safe levels?  Is there some type of compromise?

FYI – Texas has still not met the EPA’s 1997 standards for criteria air pollutants.  Here is an article talking about the Texas Air Quality issues:   Article on Texas Air Quality by NPR

Calculate the expected frequencies for each of the levels of your variable.

Chi-Square SPSS Assignment Instructions

Overview

This worksheet is designed to assess your ability to perform, interpret, report, and graphically present non-parametric tests using SPSS. Non-parametric tests are used for nominal data and/or when data do not meet the assumptions required of a parametric test. Knowledge of these tests provide fundamental skills to critically evaluating and producing research in one’s field.

Instructions

Be sure you have reviewed this module’s assigned readings and presentations before completing this assignment. This assignment is worth 50 points. Each question is worth 3 content points except where otherwise indicated (results write-ups are 4 pts each- 45 content points total). Five (5) points are assigned to general formatting. This includes using ensuring the homework is completed and submitted according to the instructions, SPSS output and images are legible and relevant, and that basic college level writing skills (e.g., grammar) are used in the write-ups. Answers should be placed where indicated (e.g., “ANSWER”). Note: all questions must be attempted to be eligible for full credit of “format” points.

· Please note that for all problems in this course, the standard cut-off (alpha) for a test of significance will be .05, and you always report the exact power unless SPSS output states p=.000 (you’d report p<.001). Remember to check your graphs! You often have to ADD the y – axis title.

· Submit the file as a WORD document (.doc or .docx). Make sure the filename of your submission includes your full name, course and section.

· Example: SPSS5_JohnDoe_515B01

Scenario 1

In the recent COVID-19 pandemic, a local precinct observed that of the 75 people who voted, 25 identified as republican, 30 were democrat, and 20 were “other”. Is this similar to pre-pandemic voting based on political party affiliations? At that same precinct, pre-pandemic voting based on political party affiliation was: 35% republican, 44% democrats, and 21% “other”. Enter in the 75 data points and expected values into SPSS to conduct the appropriate statistical test.

  1. Name the the variable of interest in the scenario. How many levels does it have, and what are they?

ANSWER

  1. Calculate the expected frequencies for each of the levels of your variable. Clearly label each group and show all work involving your calculations.

ANSWER

  1. Paste all relevant statistical output in the space provided below:

ANSWER

  1. Present the results using APA format. This includes a full write-up to include a complete statistical notation as shown in the weekly presentations. Make sure to describe what the conclusions mean in general terms. Additional examples of APA results sections are also available in the “Helpful Hints” document. (4 pts)
What did you think were the greatest weaknesses or areas for improvement?
  • Was the pitch clear?
  •  How early in the pitch did you understand exactly what the startup does?
  • Did the presenter speak quickly or slowly?
  • How much jargon did the presenter use?
  • Did the pitch have slides?  Were the slides well-designed?
  • Can you map the pitch back to the topics in the Sequoia and/or Pollenizer pitch deck templates?  How closely did this pitch follow the formula?
  • How  convincing was the pitch for you personally?  If you were an investor  in the room, would you want to learn more and potentially invest in this      startup?
  • Did the  pitch have a Q&A section at the end? How did the entrepreneur perform      in that portion of the presentation?
  • After watching the pitch, could you quickly and easily repeat what the startup      does in simple terms?

What did you think were the greatest weaknesses or areas for improvement?

Discuss what are the general implication of what the characters discuss?

Examine at the following very short video:

Discuss what are the general implication of what the characters discuss? What does the evidence say regarding their conclusions. What is the potential information in the evidence? Can you see any positive or negative procedural points in the scenario depiction of this investigation?

Make sure to address this post with material from your textbook and other sources from your own research. Use in-text citations include a reference list.

Provide three different strategies you will use to help build a positive environment

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read  Positive Guidance: Preschool Children (Links to an external site.) .

You will need to use your lead teacher’s existing classroom management plan while you are guest teaching.

Your teacher uses Positive Guidance and also has the following rules:

· We listen to the teachers

· We are kind to others

· We keep our classroom clean

· We play safely

In addition to your lead teacher’s classroom management plan, your director has told you that you have the freedom to include your own spin. Utilize Pinterest or Google to find creative classroom management techniques and discuss them in this week’s discussion response.

In your discussion response,

· Provide three different strategies you will use to help build a positive environment (if you have a link to the website, feel free to share within your post).

· Explain why you chose these strategies.

· Will you use Positive Guidance? Why or why not?

Decide which soft skills you want to share during the interview

Preparing for an Interview Worksheet

For this discussion, reflect on how you can use yourself and your personality to make the sale.

· Choose a personality trait of yours and explain why you chose that strength.

· Discuss how that personality trait reflects the P.R.I.C.E. elements of success.

· Describe the soft skills that are related to the chosen trait.

· Explain how you plan to use the elements of P.R.I.C.E. and the soft skills you have chosen, to sell that personality trait

Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.

The post and responses are valued at 40 points. Please review post and response expectations. Please review the rubric to ensure that your response meets criteria.

How will this student’s negative behaviors be addressed?

Describe a hypothetical class of your own design and creation. Include in your description a listing of the number of students with specific learning issues. Select one hypothetical student from your class and develop a specific behavior plan designed to address this student’s behavioral needs and issues.

As a subset of your plan, construct a detailed behavior management plan for one different student in your class.

Potential Problems: Narrative relating key information about your selected student.

Behavioral issue(s) is/are clearly identified, and the impact of the behavior(s) is/are clearly explained. Include key information that relates to your class’s specific needs and/or requirements. The reader should be able to “see” your class through this description.

In addition to the rules: Where does this student have difficulties integrating into your classroom community? Identify “extra” rules that are needed for this student.

Routines: How is this student expected to behave on a daily behavior during your class? What classroom routines do you expect all students to follow that might act as a trigger for this student’s misbehavior? What adaptations to your classroom routines could help this student maintain positive behaviors?

Transitions: What routines will help this student transition more efficiently between activities, locations, and/or events?

Positive Reinforcements: How will this student’s acceptable behaviors be reinforced?

Consequences: How will this student’s negative behaviors be addressed?

× How can I help you?
