You can convert  the financial information in the case to U.S. dollars by going to the OANDA Currency Converter website.
Forecast what these might look like in a year or two, assuming  your two strategic initiatives were implemented. Include this  information in the appendix.
Conclude your case study by answering the two questions listed below.

Would you invest in a business like this? Why, or why not?
Are there efficiencies of scale for this type of business?

What recruiting methods are used by the district and school to find teacher applicants? Non-teacher applicants?

As an educational leader, one of your responsibilities will be recruiting and interviewing potential candidates for staffing positions throughout campus. There are several factors to consider and understand, such as who is involved and what legalities must be upheld. The ultimate goal is recruiting and hiring the best candidates, while always preserving the desired results of student achievement and campus safety.
Allocate at least 2 hours in the field to support this field experience.
If possible, participate in hiring tasks such as reviewing applications or observe hiring interviews with your principal mentor or others in your school or district.
Interview an administrator or other instructional leader at your school or a district human resources representative regarding the recruiting strategy and hiring processes currently in place at your school.
Questions will vary, depending on who you are interviewing; however, suggested questions include:

What recruiting methods are used by the district and school to find teacher applicants? Non-teacher applicants?
Who sits on your interview committees? Do you use the same interview team for all positions? Why or why not?
Are there positions you would try to fill prior to others? Why or why not?
What criteria do you use in making hiring decisions?
What are examples of interview questions you use? Do you include any performance and behavior focused questions? Why or why not?
What legalities do you consider when going through the hiring process?

Use any remaining field experience hours to assist the principal mentor and, provided permission, seek opportunities to observe and/or assist the principal mentor.

What were the classifications used to classify investments in equity and debt securities? Would these classifications be the same whether they were classified as current or long term?

In the late 1990s, the stock prices of many companies were unusually high. These often-inflated stock prices meant high purchase prices for many business acquisitions and, in many cases, incredibly high values allocated to goodwill. When stock prices retreated in the new century, it became obvious that the book value of goodwill for many companies would never be recovered.

What were the classifications used to classify investments in equity and debt securities? Would these classifications be the same whether they were classified as current or long term?
Was the fair value of those investments greater or less than their cost basis? Explain how you came to that conclusion. What accounting policy should the company follow? Explain your answer.
How much did the company include in accumulated other comprehensive income for available-for-sale securities? What is the difference between comprehensive income and operating income for these types of transactions?

Describe and justify how your PowerPoint presentation would improve teaching and learning in the scenario.

To create a PowerPoint presentation for parents to help prepare them for  parent–teacher conferences and to evaluate your PowerPoint  presentation.
Scenario:
In your student teaching experience, you learned a  number of important lessons about holding parent–teacher conferences,  including what can go wrong. Now that you are a teacher yourself, you  want to be proactive. You invite parents to a parent coffee in which you  give a presentation to summarize what they can expect to happen during  the upcoming parent–teacher conferences. One of your goals is to be  crystal clear about the purpose of the conference. Second, you describe  the work samples and other types of data and/or artifacts you will  likely bring to the conference. Third, to reassure parents that you will  be as professional and supportive as possible, include a section in  your presentation that describes what your conferences will not be  (e.g., you being the “expert”).
Focus Assignment
1.  Create a PowerPoint presentation to prepare parents for an upcoming  parent–teacher conference. First, create four slides that offer  examples of the topics that you plan to discuss at the conference. Next,  create three slides that describe the types of student work  samples, data and/or artifacts you plan to bring to the conference.  Last, create three slides that describe the pitfalls you  sincerely wish to avoid during parent conferences. Include a final slide  that invites parents to offer feedback.

Describe appropriate treatment options based on sex offenders risk level. Explain the primary cognitive behavioral components associated with those treatment options.

The Case of Sal
Sal is a 20-year-old man currently in prison for molesting his 4-year-old cousin, Maria. Sal, who was living with Maria’s family and was often responsible for babysitting her, had been molesting Maria for 6 months. Sal initially enticed Maria through playing a game. When she would lose, he would tell her she could either allow him to touch her, or he would tell her mom she had lost the game and she would get in trouble. Sal also told Maria she needed to keep their game a secret, because he did not want her to get in trouble. Maria broke down in preschool and told her teacher about the incidents of molestation. The teacher immediately called the police, and Sal was arrested.
Sal tried to minimize the situation and his offense by stating “it was only touching.” He also tried to justify the offense by stating Maria enjoyed the game they played. Sal is currently undergoing psychological rehabilitation treatment at the prison.

What are some ways one might combat implicit bias in their decision-making and interactions?

mplicit bias is the idea that we all hold ideas about people and things that are usually out of our conscious awareness, yet influence perceptions and subsequent decisions and judgements we make, particularly about other people we come in contact with.  This topic is relevant to many of the divisions we are experiencing in our country (racial and otherwise) but is also relevant to those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The please go to the Implicit Bias Project website and take least one of the tests (your choice). You will need to read the disclaimer and click on “I wish to proceed”.  On the next page that comes up, you can select a test to take.  You will NOT need to share your results with anyone, but can if you would like to. After you take a test and/or read the article, please respond to the following questions in the form of the Discussion Board: 1) What are your general thoughts about the concept of implicit bias and tests that assess this? 2) If you took one or more of the tests, what was that like for you?  (Again, you DO NOT need to share your personal results with anyone.)  If you did not take one of the tests, what made you choose to not to take one? 3) What are some ways one might combat implicit bias in their decision-making and interactions?
