describe the specific role played by American troops in the Second Battle of the Marne, and in the months that followed between the battle and the German surrender in November 1918.

READ: After a bitter debate over how best to use American troops in World War I, it was determined that they would serve under General John J. Pershing, but accept the final strategic authority from the Allied Supreme Commander, Marshall Ferdinand Foch of France. Initially, American troops were used piecemeal to plug up holes and to drive Germans back, when possible. By 1918, American troops were fully engaged. They secured their first victory in May, at Cantigny, just north of Paris. They suffered terrible losses in June at Belleau Wood, but still claimed victory.

The real turning point came at the second Battle of the Marne, in July, where the combined efforts of the French, British, Italians, and Americans counteracted the German offensive and drove the Germans eastward. Notably, Americans soldiers, fresh to the war effort and not weighed down by years of fighting, provided a decisive edge. In the fall of 1918, Pershing lost over 100,000 men as he and the other Allied leaders continued to push the Germans back. By October 1918, Americans were behind German lines cutting supply lines, and in November 1918, Germany surrendered.

Which immigrants’ experiences reflected the message of the poem?

Complete a 5-7 page paper on the essay provided below. In addition, include a title page & works cited page. Also, include in-text documentation (parenthetical documentation).

Essay Topic:

In 1903 the following famous poem by Emma Lazarus was engraved and placed upon the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. Think about this poem’s message. Did immigrants’ experiences reflect the hope and promise of this poem?

The New Colossus

By Emma Lazarus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she

With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

What is the difference between ethical/unethical and legal/illegal?

Each assignment paper should be at least 400 words. The total number of words for answering the questions must total more than 400 words.

Ethical vs. Legal

Provide two examples of employee behaviors in hotel and tourism industry that would probably be unethical but legal, and two that would probably be illegal but ethical. What is the difference between ethical/unethical and legal/illegal? List and describe in detail how a workplace can ensure that employees are acting ethically

Describe the sexually deviant behavior.

Write a 500- to 750-word paper on the etiology behind the sexually deviant behavior in this case.

Include the following:

Describe the sexually deviant behavior.
Choose 2 theories for possible causes of the behavior. Identify precursors from the case study to support your ideas.
Compare the tenets of each theory, and explain how they apply to the case study.
The Case of Chad

Chad is a 45-year-old man currently in prison for raping 3 women. Chad had met these women on separate occasions at a bar. In each case, he put Rohypnol in their drinks when they were not looking. He would wait for the drugs to take effect and then take each of his victims to the bathroom and rape them. He reported the rapes were about feeling powerful, and he liked feeling as if he had control over these women.

How would you define the population of interest for the study?

there are some question about marketing research (includes chi-square question)

1. Sampling – Come up with some plausible inducements of assurances for people receiving an email survey to provide snowball references of friends. (1 point)

The next set of questions is based on the research presented below.

New Mexico National Bank

New Mexico National Bank (NMNB) operates branches in 23 cities and towns throughout the state of New Mexico. The bank offers a complete range of financial services, including Visa and Mastercard credit cards. New Mexico National Bank (NMNB) has 53,400 people in the state using its credit cards. Based on their original applications, the bank has certain information about these individuals. This includes their name, address, zip code, telephone number, income, education, and assets. NMNB is interested in determining whether a relationship exists between the volume of purchases charged on credit cards and the demographic characteristics of the individual card holders. For example, are individuals in certain part of the state more or less likely to be heavy users of the card? Is there a relationship between a person’s income and his or her level of card usage? Is there a relationship between the person’s level of education and card usage? The data can be used to more effectively target offerings sent through the mail if significant relationships are found. Paul Bruney, research director for NMNB, is in the process of developing a design for the research. If you were Paul Bruney, how would you answer the following questions?

2. How would you define the population of interest for the study? (1 point)

3. What probability sampling method might you use for the project? Why would you choose that option? (2 point)

4. Frame two different hypothesis for the study to be able to answer at least two questions posed by Paul Bruney. Clearly state the null hypothesis, alternate hypothesis, dependent and independent variables for both the hypothesis to get full points. (2 points)

5. Using the data in the attached spreadsheet, test one of the hypothesis you have formed above. State all assumptions including level of significance and one test statistic chosen to get full points. (2 points)

6. What would be your recommendation to NMNB based on your analysis above? (2 points)

7. (Bonus Question) Discuss the top ethical and privacy issues you need to be concerned about as you manage this study. (2 points

Summarize Gardner’s rise from homelessness to financial success, including a description of his current status.

Christopher Gardner was rendered jobless and homeless at the age of 30 in 1981.

With his baby son, Gardner moved from shelter to shelter in San Francisco as he tried to find a job. Gardner eventually managed to get the job of a trainee at a stock-brokerage firm. Through his determination and grit, he managed to rise all the way up and finally own the successful brokerage firm, Gardner Rich, which he founded in 1987.

Research more about Gardner’s life and consider the impact of an individual’s environment on behavior and choices. Prepare a 4-6 page report in Microsoft Word that addresses the following points:

Summarize Gardner’s rise from homelessness to financial success, including a description of his current status.
Relate Gardner’s experience to theories presented in the course to this point. You should be able to apply theories to both his difficulties and his successes.
What kind of information about Gardner’s background would a social control theorist require in order to be fully informed about Gardner’s environment and to explain how he improved his life? Why?
What social control mechanisms might Gardner have encountered in his early life that could have aided his behavior later in life?
If Gardner, frustrated with his life, had taken up a career of crime, which criminological theories could have been utilized to defend his actions?

Write a short biography of the person from childhood to his or her death

A psychobiography is the answer to the question, “Why is this person like he/she is?” Psychobiography uses explanation and interpretation of the events, relationships, attitudes, beliefs, and experiences of a person’s life to explain the person they are today (or the person they were before they died). In other words, psychobiography looks at the person’s whole life in an effort to understand their personality.

Psychobiography is not only biography—biographical information is included, but as part of the whole. In biography the aim is to tell the story of a life; in psychobiography the aim is to make sense of or understand a life.

Another important point—psychobiography is NOT about diagnosing a person. While you may report a diagnosis they were given by a qualified physician, you are not to make diagnosis of mental problems the point of your paper.

Section 1

• Write a short biography of the person from childhood to his or her death. This should include the high and low points of the person’s experiences. This section should clearly set the stage for the theory that you choose in Section 2. This section should be no more than two pages.

Section 2

• Choose one of the personality theorists from your text book and using specific concepts and ideas from his/her theory, trace the personality development of the person you have chosen.

o Being specific about the concept or concepts you are using is important….For example, if you are using Freud as your theorist, you might trace the resolution of the Odedipus Complex for the person you have chosen.

**Please be very clear when you are moving from section 2 to section 3 in your paper–use section labels. If it is not clear that you have moved to section 3, I can’t give you credit for it.**

Section 3

• Choose one of the following psychological concepts and trace the development of this concept from the person’s childhood to adulthood. In other words, you should take the concept and trace it from it’s roots in childhood to its culmination in adulthood. You should use specific examples from the person’s life AND different theorists to explain how this concept has developed in the person. Remember that you are tracking these as an aspect of the person, not as an aspect of an environment
