Identify any issues that may arise within the organisation that may disrupt the effective leadership of the change initiative
Assignment Task – Proposal
The chief executive of your organisation has asked you to identify a potential change that will require
to be implemented within the next two years.
They wish you to produce a change proposal that will be considered by the senior executive team.
The change proposal should focus on a single issue. For example, this may help your organisation to;
develop a new product or service, to introduce a new technological solution, or maintain compliance
with new regulations that are to be introduced.
Your proposal should:

The weighting for each element is indicative as are the Learning Outcomes identified against each
section. However, students need to bear in mind that they need to meet all the Learning Outcomes of
the module to successfully pass the module and must therefore make sure that they give sufficient
weight and emphasis to each section to show that they have achieved this.
If you are unable to use your own organisation for this assignment you may use another organisation
with which you are familiar. You will need to let your module tutor know
what you are planning to do in advance of submitting the assessment and your assignment should
include a brief rationale for this change.
Where a student does not have direct access to an appropriate organisation then they may be permitted
by the module tutor to prepare a literature review on identifying and leading strategic change within
an organisation. A student may only select this option when they can demonstrate to the module
tutor’s satisfaction that they do not have access to an appropriate organisation.
Is the Intelligence Community (IC) properly organized under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) to deter terrorism?
In this paper, address the following:
Use the following five measures used to evaluate the effectiveness of anti-terrorism policies:
Have attacks been stopped?
Have attacks been deterred?
Has the impact of attacks been reduced/mitigated?
Are the strategic systems more effective?
Are the strategic systems more efficient?
NOTE: Strategic systems are developed in response to critical issues that need to be addressed, such
as anti-terrorism policies.
Apply those measures to specific policies (e.g., Patriot Act). Provide examples and details.
Analyze and then evaluate the effectiveness of those policies. Are they working, based on the
measures you used? If not, why not?
Answer the following questions based on your analysis and evaluation:
Is the DHS properly organized to deter terrorism?
Is the Intelligence Community (IC) properly organized under the Office of the Director of National
Intelligence (DNI) to deter terrorism?
How effective, and efficient, are federal government terrorism deterrence polices?
This paper may be included as part of the Term Paper for this course.

SECTION A
There are 4 questions in this section. Attempt ALL questions. This section is worth 40 marks. Each question has 10 marks.
Question 1:
The five-factor asset pricing model of Fama and French (2015) is shown below:
R_it-R_Ft=a_i+b_i (R_Mt-R_Ft )+s_i SMB_t+h_i HML_t+〖r_i RMW_t+c〗_i CMA_t+e_it,
where R_it is the ordinary stock return of firm i at day t, R_Ft is the risk-free rate at day t and R_Mt-R_Ft is the market premium. The rest of the notation is defined in the original paper, which is available on Canvas (Topic 2) and online (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jfineco.2014.10.010). Explain in detail how each of the four factors (SMB, HML, RMW and CMA) is constructed. What is the rationale for including these four new factors in the traditional capital asset pricing model when estimation is on time series data?
[10 marks]
Question 2:
Explain two different parity conditions for spot and forward exchange rates and illustrate your answer with diagrams (and) or equations and using properly-defined mathematical notation. Discuss some of the empirical literature which identifies the determinants of spot and forward exchange parity.
[10 marks]
Question 3:
When pricing a financial instrument — for example, when pricing a bond — analysts usually make use of a yield curve. Define the term “yield curve” using properly-defined mathematical notation. How is an appropriate yield curve for bond pricing constructed, and how exactly is it used to price a bond?
What common shapes of yield curves have been observed historically and under what market conditions do we observe them? Compare and contrast these shapes with those observed in commodity forward curves.
Given the bonds listed below, identify the ones with the longest and shortest duration, assuming all other bond features are the same.
• 8-year maturity, 6% coupon
• 8-year maturity, 11% coupon
• 15-year maturity, 6% coupon
• 15-year maturity, 11% coupon
Justify your answers.
[10 marks]
Question 4:
Briefly explain what an interest rate swap is. Give at least two applications of interest rate swaps. Describe how an interest rate swap can be replicated using forward rate agreements. Is the fixed-rate payer in an interest rate swap ‘short the bond market’ or ‘long the bond market’? Please, explain your reasoning.

Task I [15 marks in total]
State the definition of Return on Equity (ROE) as a ratio of income and equity components.
[3 marks]
Use the data in Table 1 to calculate each one of the five ROE components based on the Dupont formula, for the company Alpha in 2020 and 2021.
[3 marks]
Do the same for Gamma, using data from Table 2.
[3 marks]
In each case b) and c) above use these five components to calculate the ROE and then verify that the result you obtain is indeed equal to the result obtained using the basic definition stated in a).
For the year 2021 only, critically compare each of the five ROE components for Alpha compared with Gamma. Discuss what conclusions might be drawn about the profitability of each company.
[3 marks]
Now focus on the company Gamma alone. Which components change most between 2020 to 2021? How can you interpret these findings?
[3 marks]
Task II [15 marks in total]
Use the results from part A and additional data from Table 3 to calculate the sustainable growth rate for both Alpha and Gamma, for 2021 only.
[3 marks]
Discuss the appropriateness of using these growth rates as a basis for estimating the value of the firm.
[3 marks]
Define the constant-growth dividend model, using properly-defined mathematical notation.
[3 marks]
Apply the constant-growth dividend model to the 2021 data to estimate the share price, for both Alpha and Gamma, using the sustainable growth rates just calculated and assuming a market capitalisation rate of 13%.
[3 marks]
Compare the computed share price values for Alpha and Gamma to their actual 2021 share prices given in Table 3. Comment on your results.
Question 6:
Task I [15 marks in total]
Suppose that the price of a bond futures contract that settles in three months is £105 and the price of the underlying bond is £98. The underlying bond has a coupon rate of 8%, par value of £100, and the next coupon payment is to be made in six months. The borrowing rate is 7.4% per annum. If an investor implemented a cash and carry trade, what would the arbitrage profit be?
[7 marks]
Using information in part (a), what is the theoretical futures price?
[4 marks]
Suppose that the futures price is £97.5. Given your answer to (b), is there an arbitrage opportunity and, if so, what strategy will generate that arbitrage profit?
[4 marks]
Task II [5 marks in total]
An investor has purchased a floating-rate, non-callable security with a 5-year maturity. The coupon formula for the floater is 6-month LIBOR plus 200 basis points and the interest payments are made semi-annually. At the time of purchase, 6-month LIBOR is 7.5%. In order to purchase the floater, the investor borrowed funds by issuing a 5-year note at par value with fixed semi-annual coupons of 7.0%.
With respect to the above transaction, assuming that there is no credit or liquidity risk, under what interest rate scenario can the investor lose money?
Task III [10 marks in total]
Suppose that the spot price of a barrel of crude oil is £25. Its 3-month futures contact has a value of £27 and cost-of-carry of 8%. Describe, in detail, the arbitrage strategy used to exploit this situation and the realised gains from this strategy. Use properly-defined mathematical notation in your answer.

KA6014 Theorising Interior Architecture
tutor: paul ring
Tuesday 15:00 – 16:00 (lecture)
16:00 – 17:00 (seminar)
Synopsis
Developing from historical and theoretical principles studied in the previous
years, this level 6 module provides a more interrogative approach to the
influences on interior architecture. This is in the form of a detailed critical
examination of key histories, ideologies and figures that inform contemporary
interior architecture. More broadly, the lecture programme discusses
adaptation, the interior and their relationship with arts and culture.
You will analyse, question and test ideas and theories, and develop a
comprehension of pluralism in the processes and diversity of art and design
influences on interior architecture.
The module will be taught through lectures, seminars, directed and
independent learning, and encourages you to develop an inquisitive and
analytical approach to interior architectural theory. You will develop skills in the
analysis of evidence, which will aid the formulation of judgements, founded on
knowledge of theory as well as on personal observation and experience.
This module enables you to develop skills of independent learning through
research and critical thinking. You will be introduced to a diet of critical texts,
theories, and concepts, both historic and contemporary. There will be
opportunity for discourse, debate, evaluation, and synthesis of ideas within the
formulation of a theory paper on a subject of your choice.
Research, investigation, and appraisal will be developed via attendance and
reflection on lectures, the establishment of a topic and the production of a
formative Outline Proposal (A4; >1000 words) and a summative Theory
Paper (4000 words).
Brief
You are asked to investigate and develop interests within theories, conditions and
approaches to adaptation, re-use, interior architecture, and the arts, and develop
a body of work that is both exploratory and critical within these fields.
The provided lecture series will introduce and discuss a range of topical conditions
within the broader fields, which will act as a catalyst for the production of a theory
paper. You may consider thinking, theory and philosophy that are beyond the
subject as a mechanism for exploration and discourse.
“An open gaze that is aimed at fostering, not so much the re-descriptive
application of models or methodologies, but the crossing of diverse and
heterogeneous experiences and investigations”.ii
GAUSA, M. (2003)
It is important to begin reading and develop a programme of study that uses the
lecture programme and reading lists as a primer, appose to the sole provider, of
work. Expand upon lectures by documenting associated reading and reflection.
Make use of exhibitions, lecture programmes and talks available locally and online
and within other appropriate institutions to broaden your gaze.

Write a proposal for an exhibition or event, to include images with extended captions, critical rationale and context for the project and budget outline
A 3,000/3,500-word proposal for an exhibition or event, to include images with extended captions, critical rationale and context for the project and budget outline
Please include the following five elements in your proposal:
1. Title
2. Venue
3. Rationale
• Approx. 2,000-2,500 words
• What is the concept of the project? Use clear language.
• What broader context does it relate to? (Research and reference!)
• What is innovative about your project?
4. Content / Captions
• Approx. 500-1,000 words
• What will the project include? Be specific. Use images with descriptions or extended captions.
• Sample images captions for artworks:
• Vandy Rattana (b. 1980, Phnom Penh, Cambodia), Preah Vihear, 2008, digital C-print, 60 x 90 cm. Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art.
• Jacques-Louis David, The Oath of the Horatii, 1784-5, oil on canvas, 200 x 300 cm. Musée du Louvre, Paris.
• Roberto Jacoby and Eduardo Costa, Poema ilustrado, 1966, stool, tape recorder, installation view, Galería de Radio Municipal, Buenos Aires, 1966. Work destroyed.
• Alison Knowles, Make a Salad, 1962, performance, Institute of Contemporary Art, London.
• Paul Chan, still from RE: The Operation, 2002, single-channel colour video, sound, 27:30 min.
5. Brief budget
• What would be the main expenses and how would you fund them? You may also want to include any of the following:
– Details of the project’s output (e.g. catalogue / album / film / website / app etc) 4 – Floorplan with exhibition layout
– Logistical issues e.g. transport or installation – Catalogue or brochure text (e.g. 1,000 words)
– Press release (e.g. 500 words)
– Marketing strategy – who is your target audience and how would you reach them?
– Education / outreach programming – how would you encourage audience engagement?
Tips for writing exhibition proposals
• Use clear language and avoid jargon and buzzwords.
• Start with a strong, clear sentence that succinctly articulates your idea.
• Write directly, and avoid passive and future tense (to be/will be). “The exhibition addresses xyz.” vs. “The exhibition seeks to address xyz.”
• When crafting the proposal, every sentence should answer one of these questions: What is this about? How is this a unique approach?
• Well thought-out, researched proposals usually have a level of specificity: a proposal that examines artists’ responses to the prison system in the United States is a stronger curatorial inquiry than “artists working in x medium” or “artists from x country” or “artists using the same imagery in different media.”
• Be specific when writing about artwork. Don’t write about an artist’s practice generally, write about the specific project or artwork that you want to use, and make a clear, compelling case for its inclusion. How does it connect to the theme of the exhibition? How does it contribute to the show? How does it contrast or complement the other pieces?
• Clearly describe the exhibition plan: i.e. how will viewers experience the work?
write a report covering the three parts (i.e. marketing audit, marketing strategy, plan of actions) of a marketing plan for the Edinburgh Curling Club.
Assignment:
Your task is to write a report covering the three parts (i.e. marketing audit, marketing strategy, plan of actions) of a marketing plan for the Edinburgh Curling Club.
Your written report should have a maximum of 3,000 words, excluding appendices, title page, contents page, abstract/executive summary, reference lists, figures, tables and/or illustrations.
Please access and read the case study “Game of Stones: Bringing New Audiences to a 500-year-old Scottish Sport” (2018).
You can download the case study via The Case Centre by following the link:
https://www.thecasecentre.org/courses?id=1491215&pdid=153853&opid=931955
You are allowed and encouraged to use all the material (e.g. core textbooks, newspaper articles, academic publications from peer-reviewed journals, corporate reports, models/theories) discussed in class and/or shared on the VLE site. If you think that you need further data, you can consult the original sources cited in the case study and/or conduct secondary, desk-based research to access further material that is not provided in the case study. It is crucial that you reference properly all sources used to support your written report by following Harvard referencing style.
Your report should focus on a marketing plan of actions and conclude with a specific set of recommendations for the Edinburgh Curling Club. At the beginning of your report, you are also expected to present a marketing audit and a marketing strategy. To illustrate and further explain your ideas and arguments, you are invited to use images, figures and/or any other visual cues.
As a suggestion for the structure of your report: marketing audit should consist of a SWOT analysis and represent 10-20% of your essay; marketing strategy (segmentation/targeting/positioning/branding) should represent 20-30% of your essay; plan of actions should represent 40-50% of your essay. These should be complemented by an introduction (5-10%) and a conclusion (5-10%).
By reading your report, a manager from the Edinburgh Curling Club should clearly know what to implement next year in terms of marketing actions. This can go as far as suggesting specific modifications to their membership schemes, prices, and/or locations. It can also include specific recommendations about suitable communication/media channels.

LO3 Appraise contexts in which knowledge of engineering can be applied e.g. operations and management, technology development, etc. (EP1b)
Assessment Brief:
You are required to produce a report of or equivalent to 2500 words based on the selection of the powertrain, transmission and driveline of a racecar.
You are required to specify vehicle performance targets, which are appropriate for the intended use. The targets used, as well as any assumptions or estimates should be clearly explained and justified.
You should select two powertrain options which can be conventional (IC engine) or electric motor based.
You should create a spreadsheet-based performance analysis and powertrain matching tool, which you will use to select and optimise transmission and driveline ratios with the powertrain options. You should carry out a simplified in-vehicle performance analysis in order to assess the powertrain options with respect to the targets set.
The report should include details of all calculations and input data used in your performance analysis and powertrain-matching tool. Any assumptions or estimates used should be clearly explained and justified.
The output of this analysis should lead to selection of the most appropriate option (powertrain, transmission and driveline ratios) for the vehicle.
Minimum Secondary Research Source Requirements: Level HE5
As a minimum the Reference List should include a total of five sources across academic books and refereed academic journals.
Assessment:
The marks for this assignment will contribute 50% of the final mark. The assessment will be marked according to the General Assessment Criteria for Written Assessments.
You should ensure you address all points specified in the assessment:
• Setting of appropriate vehicle performance targets.
• Evidence of the development and use of a spreadsheet based tool for powertrain matching and performance analysis.
• Presentation and analysis of the results of powertrain matching and in-vehicle performance analysis.
• Final selection of powertrain, transmission & driveline for the vehicle.
General Considerations:
The assignment involves some research, understanding and evaluating the research and producing a coherent presentation. Much of this information is available on the internet, however students should AVOID the temptation of “cutting and pasting” directly from the Internet, and then placing it in their presentation WITHOUT having the courtesy of acknowledging that the information in the appropriate manner using the Harvard or similar methods. The Harvard Referencing system is explained through the research link contained in BISSTO-LEAP and explained in the publication Cite Me I’m Yours (Harvard style).
