Discuss how the American legal system has evolved to address complex social issues.

O‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ne of the goals of this course is to understand how the American legal system has evolved to address complex social issues. The purpose of this research assignment is to give students the opportunity to explore a selected issue and to communicate this information through a written paper. You are required to write a research paper on a topic (more on the topic below) which is typed, using either 1.5 or 2.0 line-spacing (no single spacing), in proper format (APA, Bluebook, MLA, etc.—whatever style you prefer), in 12-point font, and which is 5 full pages (minimum) to 8 pages (maximum) long. This length requirement does not count after pages, such as annotated bibliography or footnotes. If you choose to use a title page, that page also will not count. Your paper should be paginated, with your name clearly identified on at least the first page or a cover page. After taking these first two steps, you should then use the research databases listed below to locate at least 3 scholarly articles and at least 2 primary legal authorities for your topic. You may use other sources as well, but must at least have these. Examples of scholarly materials include articles from Law Reviews and articles from peer- reviewed scholarly journals. Primary legal authorities include statutes and case law. Be sure to give an overview of the topic. Explain the current state of the issue. (Is it in danger o‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍f being overturned? Are the courts examining the issue? What are the pros and cons – the primary debate on the issue?) Give the historical context. Explain how the law has evolved and why. Provide the legal basis for the issue you are researching. For instance, if you were presenting on abortion access, you should include the primary legal authorities which control the issue, including the . Constitutional provisions implicated, case law (like Roe v. Wade), and statutory provisions. Footnotes You may place footnotes either at the bottom of the page where the footnote appears in the text, or you may list footnotes on a separate page after the article and prior to the annotated bibliography. If placed on a separate page(s), then the footnotes will not count against the page limit. If they are at the foot of the same page where the note appears, then they do count as part of the page limit. Annotated Bibliography You should also submit an annotated bibliography with your research paper. This bibliography does not count towards the paper page limit. Failure to include a complete annotated bibliography is a loss of 30 points. An annotated bibliography should include the following: 1. List the sources you have used in your paper. These sources must be listed in proper format. 2. Give a brief summary (2-3 sentences) of each source, without plagiarizing the original mat‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍erial

Identify information about an aggregate population to identify needs, priorities, and targets for attention.

T‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍he Community Assessment Assignment provides you with the opportunity to perform a community level health assessment. The community assessment will be done on a county (not town or city) that you select. I have chosen LAMAR COUNTY, ALABAMA. The Community Assessment Assignment will allow you to: Apply clinical content/criteria considered essential in baccalaureate nursing education. Analyze how aggregate populations are unique in terms of their demographic characteristics, available health care resources, health status and risk factors, and patterns of use of services. Apply available written information that characterizes the health status of an aggregate population and provides an inventory of available human services agencies. Identify information about an aggregate population to identify needs, priorities, and targets for attention. Develop plans for a prim‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ary prevention intervention to address identified needs. This assignment has three main components: The Windshield Survey, which is to be completed in person in the community you select. This community will be a part of the county at large. It does not have to be a windshield survey of the whole county. Online research on health statistics and data concerning the community, county, state/region, and country. Analysis and assessment of health statistics and data. You should get started on this assignment as early as possible because portions are required to be completed in person, requiring participation from people within your selected community. Make up this part based on the information you gathered about LAMAR COUNTY, ALABAMA while doing the research for this assignment. LAMAR COUNTY, ALABAMA is a rural area in Alabama that is probably below poverty level‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍.

How small business owners are managing the 4th wave
Small businesses are facing increasing challenges as the fourth wave of the pandemic looms. New statistics published by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) reports small businesses owe an average of $170,000 and that number almost doubles to $333,174 for businesses in the hospitality sector.
Corinne Pohlmann, senior vice-president of national affairs at CFIB, says repaying this debt will be the next major challenge as businesses head into the uncertainty of the fall. “It’s so incredibly important for consumers to really think about making a purchase at a smaller company rather than through Amazon or Walmart,” adds Ms. Pohlmann. “It’s the small businesses on Main Street that make a place unique.”
Despite the headlines, entrepreneurs have remained resilient during this economic roller coaster brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. “Keeping contact with customers – seeing them walk in, seeing the impact that you have on your customers and your neighbourhood – keeps us positive and optimistic,” says coffee shop and bakery owner Billy Dertillis, who co-owns Red Rocket Coffee in Toronto with his brother, Ellias.
“[Small business owners] have been incredibly resilient. The fact that we’re now 17 months into the pandemic and there are some businesses that have been closed for more than 300 days in certain parts of the country, the ability for many of those to still reopen and operate and feel optimistic, is inspiring,” adds Ms. Pohlman.

evaluate whether the reform proposals have achieved their intended effect

Resit assignment IOD: Evaluating the intended impact of IMF programmes
Participation in IMF programmes is usually linked to a commitment to pursue certain macro-economic policies as well as structural reforms. The targets and (structural) benchmarks to be achieved are articulated in the Letter of Intent (and further discussed in subsequent Reviews). However, participation in an IMF programme does not guarantee that these targets and benchmarks are achieved.
This assignment focuses on the structural reforms, so you can disregard the macro-economic policies for which quantitative (or indicative) targets are formulated. The purpose of this assignment is (a) to identify two different structural benchmarks and to link them to broader governance-related variables as can be found in international databases; and (b) to evaluate to what extent these broader governance indicators have improved in the short term.
Select a country that participated in at least one IMF programme (SBA, EFF, PRGF (older name for ECF),ECF, or SCF) between 2008 and 2015.
Identify two different structural benchmarks. These benchmarks can be found in the Letter of Intent.
To evaluate whether the reform proposals have achieved their intended effect, select at least two indicators (for each structural benchmark; so four in total) that provide information about the outcome of interest (i.e. the broader governance objective). You can choose indicators from the World Development Indicators database (check the CPIA – Country Policy and Institutional Assessment – indicators), from the Worldwide Governance Indicators database and/or from the Bertelsmann Transformation Index (BTI). If relevant, you can also use other databases. In any case it is important that you motivate your choice of indicators, so make sure you know how the indicators are defined and measured, and that they have a relationship with the selected benchmarks.
Use a simple before-after approach, by examining data for at least 5 years before the (first) loan and at least three years after.
Present all data in a table and show the most important results in one or more graphs. We expect you to make the graphs yourself, so do not copy them from a database. Discuss the results.
Finally, briefly discuss the limitations of the before-after approach in the context of this assignment.
Assessment and what to submit
This assignment will be assessed on i) choice of benchmarks and choice of indicators, as well as justification for these choices (25%), ii) accuracy of retrieved data and information (20%), iii) presentation of the data in tables and graphs (15%) and iv) interpretation and discussion of the results (40%).
The text should be no more than 2000 words. Submit a word file only in which you have copied your tables and graphs. Make sure tables and graphs are readable on their own. They should be numbered, have appropriate headings and legends (avoid redundancy), and you should provide sources.
The word limit includes tables and graphs (including sources to graphs and tables), but excludes references. There is no 10% margin.
Additional information on the databases
In the World Development Indicators, you can push the “i” for definition and measurement of the variable. For the Worldwide Governance Indicators, you can check the tab “documentation” for useful information on definition and sources. For the data from the Bertelsmann Foundation, you can check the “methodology” and, for example, read the relevant parts of the “Codebook”.
For access to BTI data, open atlas, click countries, country selection, time-series, adjust period (if necessary) and select indicators. This is also a useful source for getting more background information on your country; see, for example, the country reports.
