Describe the data and the potential sources for the data.
“Statistics are often presented to add credibility to an argument or advice. This is particularly evident in television advertisements, news articles, and social media posts where many of these values do not represent careful statistical analyses and can be misleading for the viewers. As a statistics student, you are already aware of how to explore and interpret data and are knowledgeable in ways that data can be manipulated or misrepresented when presented to an audience.
For this assignment, you are asked to find and critically examine three different examples where a claim has been made with a statistical basis. Choose examples that include some use of graphical presentation of the data and provide your answers in full sentences. The examples must represent the following:
- A problematic statistical claim that has been made in an advertisement. (15 marks)
a. What was the claim? Provide the text or link to the ad. For a video that cannot
be added through a link please describe in detail and/or attach screenshots
where appropriate.
b. Describe the data and the potential sources for the data.
c. Describe the statistics that were calculated or inferred.
d. Describe the statistical conclusion drawn. If you assume that the stated statistic
is true, in what ways are the conclusions they reach about the data problematic?
How could this data influence the intended audience?
e. What other questions do you have based on the data reported?
f. What ways would you recommend improving the presentation of this statistic
(include a recreation of any figures that were problematic or create new figures that would help clarify the claim)? - A problematic statistical claim that has been made in a news article. (15 marks)
If you assume that the stated statistic

e. What other questions do you have based on the data reported?
f. What ways would you recommend improving the presentation of this statistic
(include a recreation of any figures that were problematic or create new figures that would help clarify the claim)? - A good statistic used in an advertisement or news article. (12 marks)
a. What was the claim? (If possible, provide the text or link to the ad. For a video
that cannot be added through a link please describe in detail).
b. Describe the data and describe potential sources for the data.
c. Describe the statistics that were calculated or inferred.
d. Describe the statistical conclusion drawn. How could this data influence the
intended audience?
e. Explain why the data is complete and why the interpretation of the data was
done appropriately.

ethnicity, etc.?
Based
on the obstacles encountered by the characters in the film, what would be the
most effective leadership style?
How

Why is it important for Socrates that leadership be viewed as a burden rather than a privilege?
“This is to be a formal essay assignment of roughly 3-5 typed pages (one inch margins, 12 point font) The assignment is designed to test your knowledge of The Republic as well as how well you can organize your thoughts into a coherent argument. Your only reference should be the text of The Republic itself. I do not want to see secondary sources at all in this paper, and of course plagiarism of any kind will result in failure for the assignment and the course. If you cite from the text, and I do encourage you to do so, please indicate the page number after the quote. Also, all papers must be verified through “SafeAssign.”
Here is your topic: Why is it important for Socrates that leadership be viewed as a burden rather than a privilege? How does his “imagined city” ensure that it will be viewed this way. In answering this question pay close attention to what he says in the beginning of Bk 4 and in the middle of Bk 7. Is it important that the ruled understand this as much as the rulers? Why?
Why is phonological awareness so important? Why is this something children must be able to do before teaching them to read?
“M4: Written Assignment/Project
In this module, you are asked to develop a reading center (real or imagined). Using the following guidelines, please develop a classroom reading area that is developmentally appropriate based on the age of the children. Write a 4-5 page reflection that describes your process, the changes/additions you made, and how your classroom environment will support best practices for early reading. Include a picture of your literacy area if you can, or some of the classroom additions. Be sure to respond to the following guiding questions:
Environment: What will your reading area look like and why? Provide detailed examples.
Activities: Provide examples of readings activities you will provide.
Types: Develop a list of books that you will include. What types of books should teachers share with children, and why?
Sharing Books: What skills are important to do and emphasize when books are read to children? What did you learn about informational books and their importance to young children? Examples include; phonological awareness, syllables (discuss onset and rime), phonemes, phonemic awareness. How will this be addressed in the classroom?
Describe methods of early reading teaching and key features of instruction such as organization, procedures, and activities. How will this be addressed in the classroom environment?
Phonological Awareness: Why is phonological awareness so important? Why is this something children must be able to do before teaching them to read? How will you address this in the classroom environment?

Should a single-payer system be the ultimate goal for health care in the United States?
Democracies change their policies almost entirely through incremental adjustment. Policy does not move in leaps and bounds, thereby ensuring the stability of government (Miyakawa, 1999, p. 298).
In light of this classic quote, what incremental gains have been made by passage and implementation of the ACA?
What additional reforms will be necessary to move further toward health care access for all?
Should a single-payer system be the ultimate goal for health care in the United States?
Be sure to explain your answers and cite reliable sources to support them.

Distinguish between primary and secondary sources.
“Overview
Using relevant and trustworthy sources is a key element of conducting research in any field. Primary and secondary sources provide information necessary for historians to develop theories or interpretations about the past. In this activity, you will explore the existing literature relevant to your research question and identify one primary and one secondary source that will help you answer your research question.
Please remember to review and keep all instructor feedback. Each module activity will prepare you for an aspect of your final project, and you will have a future opportunity to improve your work.
Prompt
Use the provided Module Two Activity Template: Primary and Secondary Sources Word Document to complete this activity. You will first discuss the differences between primary and secondary sources and articulate why using both are essential to historical research. You will then identify sources relevant to the research question you wrote in the previous module. Finally, you will identify a current event related to the subject of your historical research question.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Distinguish between primary and secondary sources.
What are the differences between them?
Explain why it is important to consult a variety of sources when conducting historical research.
Why should you avoid relying only on one type of source? What are the benefits of using a diversity of sources?
Identify one primary source that would help investigate your research question.
Using the HIS 100 Library Guide in the Shapiro Library, skim through the suggested resources or find your own. Ensure they are credible and relevant to your research question.
Identify one secondary source that would help investigate your research question.
Using the HIS 100 Library Guide in the Shapiro Library, skim through the suggested resources or find your own. Ensure they are credible and relevant to your research question.
Choose a current event related to the subject of your research question and explain how they are connected.
Read what you wrote in the previous module’s activity about how your historical topic is relevant to modern society. Using your response and what you have learned thus far about your topic, identify a specific current event that you feel is relevant to your research question. Then explain how the current event is connected to your research question. Keep in mind that the link between your topic and your current event will become clearer as you continue to research.
