How does this organization compare in terms of its media, creative, and service effectiveness ratios?

Discussion

A medical group recently conducted an advertising campaign for its new pediatric orthopedics department.  After 4 weeks, a telephone survey found that 42% of the families with children under the age of 18 years were aware of the service.  Six months later, it found that 12% had actually used the service and 3% said they were regular users of the facility for their children’s orthopedic needs. Compare this organization’s advertising performance to that of the hospital discussed in Table 14-7 in this chapter.  How does this organization compare in terms of its media, creative, and service effectiveness ratios? Where might the medical group need to make adjustments?

Discussion Requirements:

  1. Your initial post should be at least 200 words.
  2. Read and respond in no fewer than 50 words to at least 2 of your peers’ posts.
  3. State your position on whether you agree or disagree with your peer’s statements.
  4. Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation are expected.
  5. APA format with at least two cited reference (APA format).
What can examining a business problem through the lens of different decision-making models teach us about decision making?

Decision-making models are  critical for making informed and consistent decisions. In this  discussion, you will use what you have learned about decision-making  models to solve the organizational problem below.

Scenario

Imagine that you are an organizational consultant for the SNHU Pet  Supply Company. You have been asked to recommend who should lead a new  initiative to expand the company’s online presence. After several  discussions and interviews, the leadership team has shortlisted two  candidates. Each candidate brings a different set of skills and  expertise to the table, and each also poses a few challenges.

The first candidate, Myra, is a 15-year veteran of the organization  who has worked her way up from an intern to a very capable product  manager. She has extensive knowledge of the company’s products and  services and embodies the company’s culture and vision in her work. Myra  is not well-versed in e-commerce and the technologies that will be  needed to implement and launch the company’s online initiative. However,  she is a fast learner, and the management position doesn’t require too  much in-depth knowledge of technologies.

The second candidate, Michael, was hired six months ago and shows  great promise as a leader and manager. He has an MBA from a reputable  university and worked for a technology startup for three years before  joining the company. He has no experience in pet supplies or related  industries, but knows how to launch an online company from the ground  up.

In your initial post, address the following:

  • Compare and contrast two different decision-making models addressed  in your course resources, explaining how each would be used to approach  the hiring decision.
  • Recommend which of the two decision-making models would be the best suited to help make the hiring decision, and why.

In your response posts to at least two peers, explain how the model  you recommended using compares with the model your peers recommended  using and how it would influence the decision-making process and  outcome. You may use the following questions to help develop your  response:

  • What can examining a business problem through the lens of different decision-making models teach us about decision making?
  • What other business decisions or situations would your peers’  recommended decision-making models be most appropriate to use for, and  why?
  • What other business decisions or situations would your recommended  decision-making model be most appropriate to use for, and why?
  • Do you have questions for your peers about why they recommended the model they did?
Describe how new steps in onboarding and orientation processes promote retention.

Competencies

In this project, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following competencies:

  • Use common practices to recruit diverse talent
  • Recommend policies and practices to promote employee retention and motivation

Scenario

You are an HR specialist for a company that manufactures shoes. Recently, you noticed the turnover has increased, specifically with newly hired production associates working less than 60 days. You designed an exit survey for those who recently resigned and have received 100 responses so far.

  • Based on this feedback, you are asked to recommend changes to the recruiting and selection process.
  • You are also asked to ensure the organization is attracting talent from a diverse pool of candidates.

The Production Associate position has not historically attracted talent from various diverse backgrounds.

  • Production associates can be trained on the equipment if they have not operated the machines before.
  • Associates use measuring tools but are not writing extensively or performing complex mathematical calculations.
  • Although the role requires long periods of standing, some roles are performed seated. Employees usually rotate through these stations for four hours at a time.
  • The company prides itself on crafting very light shoes; as such, the typical lifting weight is 25 pounds at the most.
  • Production associates receive training to advance to the Production Associate II position or into lead roles.

Consider this information in conjunction with the desire to attract a more diverse talent pool and the exit survey results when making edits to the job description.

The job description and job advertisement (job posting) need to address both the turnover concerns and the attraction of diverse talent. Once you attract talent, the team will need some guidance on interviewing for selection of talent.

Furthermore, to provide a great employee experience, you will need to develop onboarding and orientation guidance that will help the department managers retain and motivate the newly hired talent.

Directions

For this project, you will be using Milestone One data and information and building upon it to develop a recruitment and retention package for a management tool. Based on feedback from your instructor, update the work you submitted for Milestone One to incorporate into this project. Add your Milestone One updated information to the following:

For talent assessment, develop (A) two interview questions that will be included in the screening process to help ensure a strong match, and, for each, (B) explain how each question will determine whether a candidate is a match. Finally, draft a memo to the department manager, including reasons for turnover issues and new steps of the onboarding and orientation process, who will implement the recommended steps, an explanation for changes, and the turnover challenges being addressed.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  1. Turnover Analysis
    1. Analyze exit interview data to determine turnover reasons.
    2. Create a graph to show aspects of the selection and onboarding process that may be causing turnover.
  2. Job Description
    1. Edit a job description to attract matched talent.
    2. Address turnover reasons and strategies to attract diverse talent.
  3. Job Advertisement (Posting)
    1. Develop a job advertisement (posting) to attract diverse talent and address the positive and negative attributes of the role.
    2. Explain how your advertisement (posting) will attract a diverse talent pool through its use of language and description of the position.
  4. Interview Questions
    1. Develop at least two interview questions for selecting talent for this role, providing specific examples to support why these will be effective in determining if the candidate is a match.
  5. Memo
    1. Describe aspects of the selection and onboarding process that may be causing the turnover, referencing the graph you created.
    2. Create new steps of the onboarding and orientation process to reduce turnover, providing specific examples to support your claims.
    3. Identify the responsible party for each step (for example, Human Resources or manager).
    4. Describe how new steps in onboarding and orientation processes promote retention.
    5. Describe how new steps in onboarding and orientation processes promote motivation.

While reading about the different strategies for athletes to participate in for managing stress, I found the problem solving strategy would be the one that I would advise athletes to use to manage anxiety. I believe by being able to identify the problem and work through that problem will benefit the athletes that suffer with anxiety. In the text it list several steps to take while problem solving, such as coming up with solutions to the problems, figuring out the consequences to those solutions, coming up with a proposal, and executing that proposal (Williams & Krane 2021). I think with most athletes much of the anxiety they experience is from lack of confidence. If athletes are aware of the problem and implement the problem solving strategy they are less likely to experience high levels of anxiety and will exude more confidence.

In the additional article I read, it informed me of the internal and external workload that college athletes experience. One of the significant problems that athletes experience is time management. Athletes are given a certain amount of time to train for the particular sport they are involved in. While juggling training and their studies the levels of stress begin to build and become a problem that can hinder both school work and their athletic performance. It also informed me of the possible options for athletes to train at certain times when they are mentally and physically present during practice. The article also discusses how “velocity movement” has improved athletes ability to see how they are performing in that moment. This gives athletes and coaches the ability to observe their performance in that moment helping them to determine if it is higher than normal stress levels affecting their performance( Lopes, Ufting et. al 2020). While I do believe using velocity movement as one way to determine if levels of stress where high in that moment, I still think the book had better insight on how to manage stress and anxiety when one is an athlete.
