There are many papers studying this question with better data and a better strategy. You have many omitted variables here (just to mention a few, education, age, experience, etc).

About the data, what is the unit? Individual level? county average? state average? It seems like you have 3 years, why is it a cross-section then? Do you only see 1 observation per unit but across many years?

About the empirical strategy, it is a univariate regression (not multivariate) as it only includes 1 regressor.
