How should our developing understanding of memory inform our expectations for witness testimony or even the episodes within our own lives?
The centrality of working memory to our overall cognition has been a dominant theory with psychology. Does our knowledge of the neurology within memory formation fit within the theoretical model of working memory?
Describe at least one example of an area of your life in which you exhibit a growth mindset and at least one example of an area in which you exhibit a fixed mindset. Examine the benefits of each type of mindset, as well as the challenges that each presents. Explain why you believe you have more of a growth or fixed mindset overall and how this could be of benefit to your organization (present or future).
It is likely that you can think of aspects of your life in which you exhibit a growth mindset, as well as those in which you tend to exhibit more of a fixed mindset. But, in general, which do you feel better aligns with your natural tendencies? There is no right or wrong answer to the question, but knowing the answer can help you to better understand how you tend to approach situations, as well as identify opportunities for you to grow and expand your mindset to accommodate new possibilitiesboth for your own benefit and for the benefit of organizations of which you are a part. One example of an organization that benefited from adopting more of a growth mindset is Microsoft. The companys leadership team felt that incorporating a growth mindset was foundational to their culture and took measured steps to encourage its development by creating multimedia presentations and managerial conversation guides to support employees. It was discovered that this attribute was a key factor in promoting other aspects of the companys desired culture as well, such as customer focus and diversity and inclusion (Derler & Baer, 2019). With a stronger understanding of growth and fixed mindsets, you can use this knowledge to have a positive impact on your organization.

Patty was a rich businessman?s daughter. She had the best of everything all her life. Her future would have been college, a good marriage to a successful young man, and a life of comparative luxury, except that she was kidnapped by a small band of radical extremists who sought to overthrow the government by terror, intimidation, and robbery. After being raped, beaten, and locked in a small, dark closet for many days, and continually taunted and threatened, she was told she must participate with the terrorist gang in a bank robbery. If she didn?t, she and her family would be killed. During the course of the robbery, a bank guard was shot. Was her action immoral? What if she had killed the guard? What if the terrorists had kidnapped her mother or father, too, and told her if she didn?t cooperate, they would kill her parents immediately? Discuss this case, using one ethical system.

Identify the facts, including all parties involved. Indicate the rights and responsibilities of each party.
Identify relevant values, concepts, social constraints, and any additional information necessary for an accurate understanding of the case.
Identify all possible ethical dilemmas for each party involved.
Decide what is the most immediate ethical issue facing the decision-making individual.
Describe one ethical system.
Apply that ethical system to this case. Do not use your default ethical system. Think about the ethical system you selected. How would that ethical system decide what is right and wrong in this case?
Describe one concept of justice.
Apply that concept of justice to this case. That is, do not default to what you think should be done to correct this situation. What would the concept of justice you selected say about how to achieve justice in this situation?
Sum it up – Resolve the ethical or moral dilemma by using the ethical system and concept of justice you described. Since you’ve describe an ethical system defining right and wrong and a concept of justice defining how to remediate this situation, what should you do?
Use evidence from the text, lecture, or outside sources to support your claims.
The steps above will give you practice in selecting and applying an ethical system and a concept of justice. Starting next week, your case study responses will become much more robust. Look at the upcoming assignments to make sure you are prepared.
Taking its namesake from the famous ancient Greek gadfly, the Socratic method involves teachers testing a student's knowledge of a subject matter by asking challenging questions. For example, when Socrates wanted his student Theatetus to define “knowledge” he would ask him whether a tour guide who accidentally has true information about how to get to a certain destination actually knows the information, and why/why not?

For example, when Socrates wanted his student Theatetus to define “knowledge” he would ask him whether a tour guide who accidentally has true information about how to get to a certain destination actually knows the information, and why/why not? The answer is no, because he has no justification for his true opinion.

Module 02 – Case Study: Pay and Gender
For this assignment, you are the new Compliance Representative in the HR Department. It is your primary goal to ensure the organization is compliant with laws and regulations in all areas including recruiting/hiring new people, employee safety, and fair labor practices for current employees. While you address compliance concerns in all departments, you report to the VP of Human Resources. Read the case study of Sarah Green and provide a two-part response to the VP of HR.
Part One: Read and analyze the scenario below. Write a report to the VP of HR summarizing the case and providing a clear argument that an EEOC act was violated. State which act applies to the case.
Part Two: Prepare an outline of a training session for hiring managers and for the pay and benefits specialists to prevent a repeat of the situation in the scenario.
Case Study
Sarah Green has been an accountant for 12 years. She worked in a small medical practice for two years after earning her BS in Accounting and then chose to work freelance for five years. For the past five years she worked at a large firm, Stokely and Associates, where she brought in more new clients than 92% of her colleagues and received a higher satisfaction score from clients than 90% of her coworkers.
Sarah had to move to a new city to care for her sick mother. This meant finding a new accounting position. She was excited to be hired at the large accounting firm, Parker and Mendez Accounting, LLC, right away. Unfortunately, she learned after 4 months that she was being paid less than her coworkers who had equal or less experience than she did. When she asked the hiring manager about the discrepancy, she was told that the organization?s policy is to pay in a range based on previous pay. The hiring manager did admit to being surprised that her previous salary was at the low end of the expected range given her successes and performance reviews, but the policy is there for a reason and making an exception defeats the purpose of the policy.
After researching her industry and old employer, Sarah learned that her previous employer regularly paid women less than men even when the women had more experience or brought in more clients. Her current pay was impacted by this discriminatory practice.
The report to the VP of HR should include two parts:
Part One
A summary of Sarah?s case.
Address which of the EEOC acts the previous organization violated.
An explanation of the ethical and legal obligations of the current organization.
A proposed solution for Sarah.
A proposed change in policy for determining starting pay at the current organization.
Part Two
An outline of a training session for all hiring managers and benefits and payroll specialists. Each of these sections should be included and explained briefly but with enough detail that the decision-makers reading the report are fully informed and can approve the training.
Introduction: Provide an overview of the training. Example: Excellence in Interviewing is a two-week online training that introduces the best practices in interviewing.
Scope: State how broad or narrow the focus of the training will be.
Objectives: List what participants will be able to do using ?To + verb? statements. Example: To roleplay an effective phone interview. To write three behavioral interview questions that assess given criteria.
Training Method: Explain the format of the training. Online, face-to-face, blended, asynchronous or in real time or both.
Evaluation using Kirkpatrick?s Levels: Address each level of Kirkpatrick?s in detail. Share specific strategy to evaluating the proposed training.

IT Disciplines: To begin your report on careers within the information technology field, define the distinction between computer science, information systems, engineering, and information technology. In your description, first define each discipline and then describe how that discipline is related to others within IT. In your definition, address the following: What roles and careers within the IT field are related to these disciplines? What tools and technologies are most applicable to these disciplines?
Whether you are just beginning your career in information technology or taking the next step in your career path, it is vital to understand the numerous opportunities available to you within this field. In this project, you will be conducting a survey of the information technology field that includes several career options aligned with your interests and begins to sketch out the training and certifications necessary for those roles.
Directions
The Information Technology Field: Before you explore career options in information technology, it is important to distinguish between the various disciplines that exist within this field. In this section, you will be considering these disciplines, as well as two primary tools for information technology professionals: programming and scripting.
IT Disciplines: To begin your report on careers within the information technology field, define the distinction between computer science, information systems, engineering, and information technology. In your description, first define each discipline and then describe how that discipline is related to others within IT. In your definition, address the following:
What roles and careers within the IT field are related to these disciplines?
What tools and technologies are most applicable to these disciplines?
Programming and Scripting: Following your description of the different disciplines within information technology, explain the relationship between programming and scripting and their uses within the IT field. In your explanation, first define scripting and programming, then address the following:
What distinguishes a script from a program?
How would an IT professional use scripting in their work? How would they use programming?
Describe a potential case where an IT professional would use a scripting language in their work. Describe a potential case where an IT professional would use a programming language in their work.
Information Technology Careers: Once you have defined the fields available in the world of information technology, it is time to start examining careers. For this section, you will be examining three positions within your chosen area of interest.
Careers of Interest: First, identify careers of interest within the IT field. You will choose an appropriate entry-level position, mid-level position, and ultimately the position you will strive to achieve. Then, determine whether each position is most closely aligned with information technology, computer science, information systems, or engineering. In your report, describe the roles and responsibilities of each of these careers. As evidence, ensure that you are submitting the job postings referenced in your report.
Tools and Technologies: Next, within each of your identified careers, describe the tools and technologies specific to your chosen IT roles. For each career, identify and describe various tools, including hardware and software, that a professional working in that career would use.
Training and Certifications: Finally, identify education, training, and certifications necessary for chosen IT roles. For your identified roles, describe these trainings and certifications, using the information in your identified job postings and descriptions as a reference. For each training and certification, describe its utility in the information technology field and sketch out how an interested person would obtain each certification. Finally, describe the transferable skills within these certifications and how they might prepare you for other careers and fields within the information technology profession.
What to Submit
To complete this project, you must submit the following:
Information Technology Career ReportYou will create a report describing the information technology field, including distinguishing between the various disciplines within the IT field and identifying at least three careers of interest within the field. This report should be between 500-600 Words.
