The firing of NBC’s today show Matt Lauer shocked the nation a few years ago. Likewise the trial of TV Icon Bill Cosby was equally as shocking. The sexual misconduct allegations and accusations in Hollywood have skyrocketed over the last few years. After reading chapters 9 &10 you now have a better understanding of the role of branding and brand equity. How does these allegations and accusations affect the brands involved?

What is the overall fit R2? What is the adjusted R2? Which predictors are considered significant if we work with ?=0.05?
Competency 3 Statement
Utilizing statistical regression and time series analysis models, you will be able to evaluate and analyze how multiple variables impact an organization. You will also be able to create forecasts and interpret data to analyze performance as it impacts strategic planning and comparative advantage for an organization.
Manipulating data to create models helps us describe and summarize relationships between variables. Understanding how variables relate to each other helps businesses predict performance and make informed strategic plans. For example, to make an informed recommendation to management regarding which types of office buildings to acquire or sell, you would model the relationship between assessed value and given variables.
This reflection gives you an opportunity to develop, evaluate, and apply bivariate and multivariate linear regression models, and then reflect on office buildings you recommend acquiring and selling, and why.
???????
Pre-Reflection Exercise
Download the Competency 3 Reflection Data Set. The data set is information about the tax assessment value assigned to medical office buildings in a city. The following is a list of the variables in the database:
Floor Area: square feet of floor space
Offices: number of offices in the building
Entrances: number of customer entrances
Age: age of the building (years)
Assessed Value: tax assessment value (thousands of dollars)
As you work through the following exercises, note your answers to the given questions so you can easily summarize them in your reflection.
Use the data set to construct a model that predicts the tax assessment value assigned to medical office buildings with specific characteristics.
1. Construct a scatter plot in Excel with Floor Area as the independent variable and Assessment Value as the dependent variable. Insert the bivariate linear regression equation and R2 in your graph.
Do you observe a linear relationship between the 2 variables?
2. Use Excels Analysis ToolPak to conduct a regression analysis of Floor Area and Assessment Value.
Is Floor Area a significant predictor of Assessment Value?
3. Construct a scatter plot in Excel with Age as the independent variable and Assessment Value as the dependent variable. Insert the bivariate linear regression equation and R2 in your graph.
Do you observe a linear relationship between the 2 variables?
4. Use Excels Analysis ToolPak to conduct a regression analysis of Age and Assessment Value.
Is Age a significant predictor of Assessment Value?
Construct a multiple regression model.
Use Excels Analysis ToolPak to conduct a regression analysis with Assessment Value as the dependent variable and Floor Area, Offices, Entrances, and Age as independent variables.
What is the overall fit R2? What is the adjusted R2?
Which predictors are considered significant if we work with ?=0.05? Which predictors can be eliminated?
What is the final model if we only use Floor Area and Offices as predictors?
Suppose our final model is: Assessed Value = 115.9 + 0.26 x Floor Area + 78.34 x Offices.
What would be the assessed value of a medical office building with a floor area of 3500 sq. ft., 2 offices, that was built 15 years ago?
Is this assessed value consistent with what appears in the database?
Reflection
In a minimum of 500 words, reflect on the types of medical offices you would advise management to close and open, and why. Use your exercise notes to support your rationale.
Submit your reflection.

Why is communication important? How does communication enable us to function daily? What would happen without communication? Think about the CONVID-19 pandemic. Despite social distancing and home confinement, how we communicate with others has shifted. How has your communication with family, friends, school, and work changed? What positive changes did you observe, and is it worth continuing some of those practices today? What negative effects did you observe as a result of our shifting communication styles? What possible solutions exist to address those difficulties?

The Social Security trust funds are financial accounts in the U.S. Treasury. These trust funds hold asset reserves and provide automatic spending authority for benefits. There are two separate Social Security trust funds, the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) Trust Fund pays retirement and survivors benefits, and the Disability Insurance (DI) Trust Fund pays disability benefits. I want to put out more information about how social security works. Many Americans dont know if you dont pay into social security, the person can get denied social security benefits. When graduating high school, a requirement should be to take a social Security course. Should Social Security be mandatory for all workers, or should it be a choice to participate in the program?
In response to your peers, reflect on suggestions to change the Social Security program.

2. The OASDI program is funded by every employed American considering that every US employed citizen has a portion of their paychecks put into the social security program as precautionary measures. It’s purpose is to have insurance when things go wrong in someone’s life as security (hence the name). This program helps when someone is trying to retire and maintain the same income, have some sort of disability and cannot work (ex: heart problems), or if the main breadwinner dies and the other person cannot maintain the income and expenses. There are two different trust funds that the United States Treasury uses. One is for retirement and survivor benefits, and the other is for people with disabilities. Since the money is going to specific things, it works as a system because then money will not go to things it is not supposed to. Honestly, the social security program is very beneficial for US citizens because we will benefit from the money that we put into it. It is purely to help in time of crisis. Say someone was working and did not contribute to the social security program, and they get into a horrible accident that restricts them from working. This person would have no aspect of income considering they do not qualify for the social security program for disability because they did not put any money into it. It could be improved by raising the payroll tax cap because then it would no longer restrict higher earners from paying as much in taxes which is not fair to low income workers.
