The Method of Makers Discussion

I’m trying to study for my Mathematics course and I need some help to understand this question. For this discussion, test out The Method of Markers with people you  know. Make sure that you explain the procedure to the players before you  try out the method. Maybe even let them do a trial run. Please include a  photo to document your experiment. Tell us about the experience.Did all of the people believe that they received a fair division of the goods? If not, explain why.

Analysis of Variance Discussion

For this week’s forum, locate a research article that used an ANOVA and a post-hoc analysis in their methods/results..  Please attach the article or provide a link so classmates can view it.  Describe how the ANOVA and post-hoc analysis was used to answer the research (i.e. what did it compare) and where the group differences were found in the post-hoc.  Please share the levels of the dependent and independent variable(s).  As always, please select an article that no one else has used or discussed for this week.

East Los Angeles College Lost Wax Bronze Pour Discussion

Lost-Wax Bronze Pour  (please keep in mind this is your last discussion.  There is no discussion on Ch. 15:  Other three-dimensional media.)In your own words, describe and discuss the process of lost-wax.  Bring in at least two specific examples by which you can describe the process fully.  You can include the history and the technique of this process as well as how and why it is used in contemporary times.

american History Under President Clinton Discussion

I need an explanation for this History question to help me study. By the 1990s, the US was stepping into the “Information Age”. This would coincide with the presidency of Bill Clinton. One can also see this as a period when global connections really became more visible and faster, in part because of new trade agreements around the globe. In North America, there was NAFTA—the North American Free Trade Agreement. By the late 1990s the US economy was entering a dynamic period of growth.American history under President Clinton:

Organizational Ethics Discussion

post a meaningful comment or questionDiscussion 1Organizational ethics are the policies, methodology and culture of doing the correct things even with troublesome and frequently questionable issues. Ethics that challenge associations incorporate however aren’t restricted to segregation, social duty and trustee issues. Ethical issues and how any firm follows ethics could easily compare to ever in light of the fact that internet based life promptly uncovered issues that may have been cleared aside in past ages. The Concept of ethics relativism which holds that moral conduct ought to be characterized by different periods in time ever, a general public’s conventions, the exceptional conditions existing apart from everything else. The working environment Personal faith in a preeminent being, religious association, intensity of nature or some other life-managing power. Organizations have reacted to the expanded thoughtfulness regarding otherworldliness and religion at work by endeavoring to oblige their representatives. Adversaries of otherworldliness at work point to the bunch of execution issues as justification for keeping otherworldliness out of the working environment. Issues incorporate which religion ought to be advanced and requirement for perceiving decent variety of religious convictions. Examining Ethical Dilemmas in Business with Business chiefs and representatives need a lot of choice rules that will shape their reasoning when hands on ethical issues happen. Applying Ethical Reasoning to Business Activities Can utilize the goodness, utility, rights, and equity system as an apparatus to dissect genuine business ethics dilemmas.Law and ethics likewise assume a huge job in administering how associations may treat their clients. Ethics and law have a huge influence in the manner firms may treat the individuals who work for them. Both ethics and legitimate concerns manage when workforce can be employed and terminated, how the executives may treat them and pay them and what sort of workplace they can anticipate. The region of business morals and laws and the jobs they play in associations is enormous. Ethics are the Safeguard to the Company. To improve the nature of an organization’s ethics execution we should change the way of life so ethics is a piece of ordinary basic leadership. The Ethics Policies or Codes Provides direction to directors and workers on what to do when looked with a ethics problem In U.S. arrangements will in general be instrumental, giving guidelines and methodology and in Japan strategies will in general be blend of lawful consistence and friends esteems. Simply having a code or arrangement is inadequate, must be generally conveyed and have related preparing. Lawbreaking in business is regularly a consequence of acts done by its own employees. U.S  Justice Department cracking down about corporate illicit movement. Numerous associations actualize consistence and ethics projects to help manage the basic leadership and conduct of employees. Consistence with administrative prerequisites and the organization’s very own arrangements are a basic part of viable hazard the employees. Checking and keeping up consistency isn’t simply to keep the regulators upbeat it is a standout amongst the most significant ways for an association to keep up its ethical wellbeing, bolster its long haul thriving, and save and advance its qualities.1.Initially, one should pay attention to the fact that, the Chiquita’s mission is respecting ethics and ethical business. In its attempts to protect its stakeholders and employees, when the paramilitary group insisted that, in the case the company could not pay, its employees would be at risk. Taking such decision seriously, its management stated that its attempts to find out fund would be as the cost paid for Colombia against doing business there. While paying to the paramilitary group, the company attempted to hid the payment through some of questionable accounting actions.Settling upon that, I agree with the 11th  US Court of Appeals ruling that cleared Chiquita of any liability for the victims killed by the paramilitary group that Chiquita funded2.Four major types of the ethical reasoning: virtue ethics, utilitarian reasoning, rights reasoning, and justice reasoning. Considering that, I think that, it was ethical for Chiquita to do payment of the declared organization as terrorist at their threats to hurt its employees if no payment has been done. The company was obligated to find out a way to protect its employees. According to the ethical reasoning’s four types, as to virtues, there are limitations, such as incomplete or subjective of the good virtue. As to the utilitarian, there is a comparing benefits, protecting its employees, at the costs of being accused by the court. Rights type is corresponding to the basic human rights, protecting employees. Finally, justice has benefits and costs that have been distributed.3.One can admit the necessity of US ban against supporting the terrorists groups, basically which has been imposed after September 11th, 2001. Though, concerning the situation of Chiquita, while admitting its ethical principles and obligation of code of ethics, the company attempted all possible ways to react to the threats of such terrorist group, basically in order to prevent harms and risks occurred to its employees. The company, however was in miserable choice, either to support the terrorist group or follow ethical codes, which has links to the lives of its employees. Therefore, its decision was protecting the lives of its employees.4.Chiquita has not a real choice. It was obligated to breach ethical code against protecting its employees. The company did not find at all any other choice to protect its employees without paying the terrorists, in order to stop their threats.Being involved with ethical code and business ethics, sometimes the individual is obligated to breach the code, against preventing injuries, harms or risks that may occur and threat his life and the lives of others. The case of Chiquita is an ideal example of this matter.Discussion 2This chapter talks about the various ethical issues encountered by a business and how a mangers needs to understand the root cause of it and find a solution to it. Ethics is a notion of what is right or wrong. A person learns about ethics, morality, and acceptable behaviour from various sources like religion, family institution, school and teachers and neighbours, friends, role-models. These pre-convinced notions or basic rules are important for preservation of organized life. Businesses need to cultivate ethics due to many reason like-  Enhance business performance; To comply with legal requirements; To prevent or minimize harm; To meet demands of business stakeholders; To promote personal morality. Although companies have several reasons to be practice ethic laws they still find themselves in ethical problems every now and then due to- Personal gain and selfish interest/greed; Competitive pressure or profits; Conflicts of interest; Cross cultural contradiction. The analysis and resolution of ethical dilemmas in a workplace depends on ethical character and moral development of mangers and other employees. The main two component that make up good ethical character in workplace are ‘Manager’s value’ as partake in major business decision and ‘Spirituality’ in the workplace as according to research found that businesses that value spirituality amongst its employees, also have high morals in ethics. Mangers also needs to understand everybody’s ethics are different and they are different stages i.e. childhood (avoiding punishment); adolescence (reward seeking); early adulthood (learns from social group); adulthood (seeks to follow laws, customs and tradition); mature adulthood (apply their moral belief beyond specific social customs) and mature adulthood (based on principle and relationship). Mangers and employee needs set of rules to guide them how to deal when the job ethics issue occur. This helps them to identify and nature the problem and decide on the actions they likely would take. There four methods that can use i.e. virtue ethics, utilitarian reasoning, human rights and justice reasoning.Chapter 6: Organizational ethicsThis chapter talks about some steps to improve ethical performance for a business. Corporate culture is a blend of ideas, customs, traditional practices, company values, and shared meanings that help define normal/acceptable behaviour for everyone who works in a company. it is basically is “the way we do things around here”. Ethical climate represents an unspoken understanding among employees of what is and is not acceptable behaviour based on the expected standards or norms used for ethical decision making. There are three types of ethical climate depending on the situation i.e. Egoism, focused on self-interest, company interest, or economic efficiency; Benevolence, focus on friendship, team interest, and social responsibility; Principle which focus on personal morality, company rules and procedures, and laws and professional codes. Business ethics can be different across different organizational function as they have different specialized operations and have particular ethical dilemma. Some can be accounting ethics, financial ethics, and marketing ethics. Marketing ethics can be complicated because it is usually the first point of contact between the business and stakeholder. Any business can improve the quality of ethical performance, which requires a company to build ethical safeguard into their day to day routines (institutionalizing ethics). Some step could be: Building ethics safe guard into company; Ethics policies or code; Ethics and compliance officers; Ethics reporting mechanism; Ethics training programCase Study: Responsibility or Illegal ActionsOverall the case is about Chiquita Banana brand that has been accused of supporting violent attacks against the people of Colombia, but they were found not guilty of any crimes. I don’t agree with 11th U.S. Court of Appeals ruling that cleared Chiquita as the company thought they were being ethical by trying to protect their employees, but it the long-run they were acting in an illegal manner by paying the terrorist groups. This just proves the struggle between ethical behaviour, and the difference between it and legal behaviour.By using the four methods of ethical reasoning it is evident that it was unethical for Chiquita to pay the terrorist organization when payments were demanded in the early 2000s. As there was lack of honesty, courage, and justice/fairness. This choice was not an honest one because the company knew who they were dealing with. These groups are not new, and their behavioural history is well documented. The employees in the company were under constant threat of attack by volatile militant groups. Chiquita could have made the right and ethical decision of choosing to open a plantation in a different area where this type of behaviour can be avoided.

Week 2 – Discussion: Boundaries
Response 1- Jamie
Which one specific ethics code, addressing boundaries, do you feel is important to be included in the standards? Why?
In ACA standards for school counselors section A. 15. Technical and Digital Citizenship it states, “Understand challenges with confidentiality when using email and establish protocols and boundaries for responding to emails “(ACA.org, 2022). This is an important code on boundaries because it talks about confidentiality with students, but also the importance of boundaries. Now a days with technology students have easier access to students through email or messaging through google classroom sites. There have been many stories of teacher/student relationships that blur these boundaries and waver on an unethical line. It is important as a counselor when reaching out to students through emails and responding that we keep it very professional, share any responses of student’s that may be inappropriate to admin, and keep student confidentiality unless the message shows harm and serious problems that need to be mandated and reported. Social media is another great example of setting boundaries. Social media allows counselors to humanize the profession, educate others about mental health and even connect people with the resources and services they need. According to counseling today, “counselors have an opportunity to use social media platforms to offset misinformation and educate others on mental health” (Counseling Today, 2022). School counseling is a specialization in which a gap is bridged between students and their families to help facilitate student achievement, improve behaviors and attendance, and help students with social and emotional regulations. Through tools such as social media counselors can help advocate for student’s and keep parents informed. Social media needs to be supported by multiple people such as counselor, admin, and a teacher to have more eyes on what’s being posted, how people and responding, and when comments or questions come in, giving appropriate responses, boundaries for successful use without crossing lines, forming inappropriate relationships and have multiple eyes on content and problems that could arise. Having support systems is important.

RESPONSE 2- CLAUDIA
Which one specific ethics code, addressing boundaries, do you feel is important to be included in the standards? Why?
In ASCA’s Ethical Standards for School Counselors (American School Counselor Association, 2022), one specific ethics code that stands out as important and that should be included in the standards is code B.2: Responsibilities to the School. This ethics code covers the various responsibilities of school counselors in their roles as leaders and facilitators within, and outside, the school environment. Various points from the code will be examined below:
School counselors develop and maintain professional relationships and systems of communication with faculty, staff and administrators to support students (American School Counselor Association, 2022). This point highlights the specific responsibility that school counselors have in collaborating with stakeholders to produce best outcomes for social/emotional, academic and career readiness of students. Through collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the school community, school counselors can gain a better understanding of the needs and challenges of students, align their counseling efforts appropriately, and provide data-driven lessons and support.
Another important aspect of B.2 is through advocacy. School counselors exercise leadership to create systemic change to create a safe and supportive environment and equitable outcomes for all students (American School Counselor Association, 2022).
Counselors advocate for counseling programs that are free of non-school-counseling assignments, as has been identified by “The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs.”  The ASCA framework ensures that school counselors are practicing in their professional role of providing support services to students in the areas of academic, career, and social/emotional wellness.
School counselors maintain confidentiality and “inform appropriate officials, in accordance with federal and state law and school and district policy, of conditions that may be potentially disruptive or damaging to the school’s mission, personnel and property, while honoring the confidentiality between students and school counselors to the extent possible (American School Counselor Association, 2022) .
While all the codes are essential to an effective counseling program, and serve to guide counselors in their practice, I believe that code B.2 sufficiently covers all the leadership, advocacy and confidentiality aspects of a school counselor. B.2 addresses the importance of developing professional relationships, delivering comprehensive programs, advocating for equitable policies, creating a safe and inclusive school environment, and adherence to ethical research practices.

Week 2 – Discussion: Hope & Altruism
RESPONSE 4- ASHLEY
Were interrelationships within school organization and the community reviewed?
Yalom shares the interrelationship between group therapy and healing for those struggling with alcohol abuse as it drastically influences change in them. People who grapple with this matter often feel overwhelmed, isolated, and lack control, and the group setting helps individuals overcome these emotions, among many others. Point number 8 reiterates the importance of the interrelationship between combatting substance abuse and interacting with others by stating, “Interpersonal learning teaches clients how to develop supportive interpersonal relationships. (2015)” Working with others with the same struggle allows individuals to support one another by processing the issue together and finding solace in knowing they are not alone and can work towards their goals together. As they witness change occurring in others, their hope is restored, encouraging them for their healing. Although these articles focus on therapy, this same concept can be applied to the school setting, allowing students to engage in community and heal substance abuse through group counseling.
Identify how the various stakeholders engaged in school, family, and community partnerships.
Yalom shares how the group helps participants engage in school, family, and community partnerships. For instance, the group helps individuals improve their ability to relate to one another and gain confidence through healthy relationships. This interaction will translate to students’ relationships at school, family, and community. Depending on their family dynamic, this may be their first introduction to healthy relationships, which may change their life trajectory by allowing them to feel seen, heard, understood, and accepted. Once students embrace the group, they may no longer desire to isolate themselves and may be encouraged to develop a healthier lifestyle.
Yalom also mentions how the group is cathartic and can lead participants to release pent-up emotions due to the supportive environment, which will also help them as they interact within their school community. In the schools, the counselors can ask students to participate in a mindfulness activity, improving students’ attention to their tasks and growing compassion for themselves and others. One example at my site is Mindful Monday, where the counselor records herself leading students through a mindfulness activity, which teachers project for all nine hundred students, encouraging them to practice deep breathing in times of stress.

RESPONSE 4- Stacey
Were interrelationships within the school organization and the community reviewed? If so, how?
In this week’s readings, I gained new knowledge on Yrvin Yalom’s eleven therapeutic factors in group therapy. The first factor discussed is an installation of Hope, which emerges when clients feel hope due to others struggling through similar struggles in their life and seeing change happening amongst them. The interrelationships that I gathered through readings are the members as a community and as individuals, the families supporting the members in this group, the facilitator, and the therapist/counselor. All of these interrelationships are important and should be valued because it takes all of them to make this therapy group work. The group allows members to feel that they are not alone and makes them feel that their struggle is not unique and they feel supported because of it. This gives people the confidence to make changes in their life. As counselors, I believe it is important that when we form groups we make sure everyone feels that they belong, are supported, remove any feeling of solitude, and make sure that everyone feels cared for. As a facilitator of a group, having these interrelationships with everyone is key and it is very important to have that engagement with all members of the group, not singling people out, and acknowledging that they made it to the group is so essential.
Identify how the various stakeholders engaged in school, family, and community partnerships.
In group therapy, there are various stakeholders including the facilitator, the members, and even the staff helping if any. In a school setting, there are also many stakeholders such as the students, the parents, the admin team, the counselors, and other members who work in the school system.  Group therapy allows clients to help one another by providing feedback and this helps as it allows for the community to share experiences and be celebrated or encouraged, this is also possible within a school setting. The stakeholders in a group setting feel valued by sharing their success and this is when self-esteem is emerged. Another way that counselors can help in this group setting is by being sensitive to the members, and by being self-aware of their own behavior because members start to imitate behavior and they are also watching for other members’ behaviors who are being successful with their struggles. As future counselors, we must always remember that we are leaders in our school community and we are always being watched and imitated. We also are going to be leaders of groups we form and we need to support our members and encourage and be able to always celebrate wins no matter how small or how big they may be.

Too much fat, too much sugar or too many calories Questions

This discussion is taking a look at Chapters 4 as well as 5, since Diabetes is effected by blood sugar levels and those levels can rise due to added sugars. But could Diabetes be associated with people who are obese? The data indicates this. But not every obese person has Diabetes. The possibility exists of insulin resistance ultimately being a direct cause of diabetes since it may be that the insulin resistance itself causes weight gain. So, it may not be as simple as obesity causing Diabetes, but that insulin resistance might be a major contributing factor. In 2012, new research indicated risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including increased levels of triglycerides, LDL and cholesterol have been found in people who eat too many added (refined) sugars. Remember, sugars are carbohydrates.Watch the following: In addition, review these links to a 2 minute video, a New Times article and a publication about a study published in JAMA www.nytimes.com/2012/07/01/opinion/sunday/what-rea… Lastly, view this TedMed talks by Peter Attia, which has important FUTURE (though as yet not researched) implications, both political and physical. Dr. Attia is quite emotional in this talk at the end and I do believe, and have always surmised what he is saying will eventually be born out with research. In turn, this may help to turn around the politics of making the “wrong” foods available while the “healthier foods are more expensive. To successfully complete this, you will need to:

Refer to:

An Overview of the First Step Act. (https://www.bop.gov/inmates/fsa/overview.jsp)

This resource provides a thumbnail description of 2018’s First Step Act. This Act’s purpose is to: improve criminal justice outcomes, reduce the size of the Federal prison population, and to create mechanisms to maintain public safety.

The First Step Act of 2018: An Overview [PDF]. (attached)

This resource provides a more detailed overview of the First Step Act’s effect on inmates and their families.

The United States has experienced a corrections explosion over the past 40 years, despite a decrease in serious crime during this same period. Consider statistics such as these. Since 1980, the:

Number of people on probation has increased by nearly 300%.
Prison population has increased by more than 400%.
Federal imprisonment rate has increased 500% (Schmalleger, 2021).

Even though we are in the midst of a period of mass incarceration in the United States, we know that incarceration doesn’t work. Consider this quote from the video, Psychology, Criminality, and Incarceration in America: “Prisons don’t work. People do not get corrected in today’s prisons. Convicts come out worse than when they went in and are even a greater threat to society than before” (Lary, 2010). The Bureau of Justice Statistics has evidence supporting this sentiment. The 2018 Update on Prisoner Recidivism states an estimated:

68% of released prisoners were arrested within 3 years.
79% within 6 years.
83% within 9 years (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2018).

Instructions
After reviewing the resources provided in the overview, you are to write a 2–3 pages in which you:

Distinguish among the four functions of corrections: retribution, deterrence, incapacitation, and rehabilitation.

Be sure to illustrate the distinctions with current and/or historical examples.

Summarize the arguments for and criticisms of each of the four corrections functions.
Explain the current state of each of the four corrections functions in the United States.
Select a minimum of three corrections improvements included in the Psychology, Criminality, and Incarceration in America video that appear promising and explain why you think so.
Use three sources to support your writing.

Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate.
Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment.

Economy Tax and Regulations Cut vs Tax and Regulations Pile Summary

Read the following two statements taken from a Forbes article in December 31, 2013.Statement 1: “there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. The market will take care of everything, they tell us. If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes – especially for the wealthy – our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle down, well, that’s the price of liberty.”Statement 2: “there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. The government will take care of everything, they tell us. If we just pile on even more regulations and raise taxes – especially on the wealthy – our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the losers are protected by more social programs and a higher minimum wage, if there is more Quantitative Easing by the Fed., then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle up to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle up, well, that’s the price of a social safety net.”These statements are based upon the US economy and different, well-known, economic governmental philosophies implemented frequently. These are very BIG economic statements which means these statements refer to many different aspects of macroeconomic government policy. During this course, we have already discuss some some portions of these theories and will eventually discuss other portions of these theories.1. Which philosophy do you agree with? Why? Narrow down your thoughts to one aspect of these macroeconomic policies, i.e taxes (more or less), government spending, government welfare spending, monetary growth, effects of government regulation, etc.2. Find at least one journal article that either agrees with or disagrees with the philosophy that you have chosen in #1. 3. Find a popular press article that argues the opposite4. Summarize your journal article as it refutes your popular press article. This summary should be in terminology that could be understood by your fictional high school senior.
