Compensation plan and compensation policies

Assignment 1: Developing a Compensation Plan
In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to apply concepts in a situation emphasizing alignment of external competitiveness with the organization’s ongoing recruitment efforts.
XYZ, a construction company, has recently obtained a large project that requires them to hire 15 experienced welders in Casper, Wyoming.  Casper has very few welders locally so XYZ needs to recruit welders who will relocate to Wyoming for the duration of the project.
XYZ is not familiar with compensation methods for welders and is unsure how to design a compensation plan that will be attractive to welders.
Determine the problems XYZ might encounter in developing a competitive compensation plan that will attract welders to work for their company in Casper.  Propose how XYZ should begin the process of establishing a competitive compensation plan for welders and the techniques and data collection methods they should use to develop an effective compensation plan for the welders.
Write your initial response in 3-4 paragraphs
Assignment 2: Compensation Policies LASA (CO 1, 2)
Assume you are leading a team of consultants hired by MPBS to help develop their total compensation plan.  MPBS wants to implement a compensation plan to support their business strategy. Your team has completed the preliminary review of the organization, including discussions with management, and compiled initial information about MPBS.  That information is detailed in the team report.
MPBS views their mission statement as the driver behind the alignment of policies, purposes and objectives of all operating units in the entire organization.   Your first task is to help the human resources department create a compensation mission statement as the first step in designing their compensation plan.  You are to consider the various factors affecting mission statements and objectives and then:
Recommend a specific compensation mission statement and the specific objectives of the MPBS compensation system that aligns the compensation plan to the company’s mission and strategy.  Provide a rationale to support your mission statement and objectives. Your second task is to overcome the past reluctance of top management at MPBS to have anyone put much effort into administrative detail.  They have generally opted for a quick and easy approach to policy and practice.  You should plan to educate the top management group regarding the need for more sophisticated and detailed approaches to compensation.  To do so, you must include answers to the following questions that were posed by the new HR manager.  Justify your responses using scholarly sources.
What are the relevant markets that each of MPBS’s major occupational groups should be compared to? Should MPBS lead, match, or follow competitors? Why? How will decisions on external competitiveness help MPBS align compensation policies with mission and strategy? Why is it important and is it worth the effort and cost for MPBS to bother with specifying pay grades and pay ranges? If pay grades are used, is it better to have few or more grades?   How should the ranges vary by job type and level? How much overlap should be built into the grade ranges? In what ways might the plan MPBS develops and the related compensation policies impact job performance? To complete this assignment, write a 5–6 page report in Word format and provide rationale and scholarly support.   Apply APA standards for writing style to your work.

Assignment: assessment data to guide practice

ASSIGNMENT: ASSESSMENT DATA TO GUIDE PRACTICE

Criteria:
*Use labels below as headings
*APA format required-refer to Announcement Writing Skills and APA Format
*2 pages Word document that includes the following (excluding Title and Reference page)
*Refer to Instructor Guidance-Anecdotal Records, The Rating Scale and the Checklist links for Anna Smith
Title Page

Introduction-Write a brief introduction that informs the reader of the topic of this assignment and its organization (tell the reader what you will be discussing in your paper).
*Recommendation to include:
·        Identify child-Anna Smith
·        Name three assessments (checklist, anecdotal record, rating scales)
·        What will the assessment help to identify?
·        Contents of document (general assessment observation, child observation, short-term and long term goals)
Example:  The following document will explain data collected for Anna Smith for the purpose to match curriculum and developmental goals for a preschool child.   Three assessments will be reviewed; Developmental Checklist (accompanied by a Red Flag Checklist), an Anecdotal Record and a Rating Scale.  Data provided will help identify Anna’s strengths and opportunities for growth in multiple domain areas.  It will also guide individualized instruction.  General assessment observations, child observations, short-term and long-term goals will be discussed.

Assessment Observations (1 to 2 paragraphs)-Describe the observations that you made from the data using several examples from the assessments of Anna Smith (include data from the checklist, anecdotal record and rating scale).
*Recommendation to include data from:
·        Checklist and Red Flag checklist
·        Anecdotal Record
·        Rating Scale
Example assessment observations:  Using the Red Flag Checklist was informative; however, I needed to categorize the list to match the Developmental Checklist form (movement, milestones in hand and finger skills, language milestones, cognitive milestones and social milestones).

When categorizing the Red Flag list, I was able to match stated developmental skills to categories other than movement development.  Challenges include not all categories assessed are included on the Red Flag Checklist.  For example, the Developmental Checklist indicates that Anna can print a, s, n, t, r, and l.  However, on the Red Flag List there is no printing of letters to make an analysis for Anna.

The anecdotal record and rating scale supported findings from the checklist which includes……

Child Observations (3 to 4 paragraphs)-Describe the strengths and areas of opportunity (i.e, weaknesses) for Anna Smith based on the assessment data (include information from the checklist, anecdotal record and rating scale).
*Recommendation to include data from:
·        Checklist and Red Flag checklist
·        Anecdotal Record
·        Rating Scale
Example child observations:  Based on the Developmental Checklist alone, Anna is strong in her development of hands/finger and social skills. Further data supports that Anna is socially developing appropriately includes:
·        Comments-“Anna is happy and engaged in the class.”
·        Anecdotal Record-“Greets other children”
·        Center Time Play Rating Scale-Always checked for “Plays with children”, “Shows engagement at centers”

One area under the social umbrella includes “transition time”.  “Needs direction” is stated in the Developmental Checklist.  Other areas of opportunity include movement, language, and cognitive.

Again, the challenge remains as to the assessment criteria in relation to the Developmental Red Flags list.  Many of the assessment criteria is not included in the Red Flag list; making it difficult to create curriculum for Anna based on this information along.  For example, data indicates that Anna can print 8 letters.  The question is how many letters she should be able to print as a 4-5 year old.  More research would need to be conducted to provide a foundational basis for child development skills for a 4 to 5-year old.

Short-Term Goal (3 to 4 paragraphs)-Explain three specific instructional decisions for a short-term goal for Anna Smith based on the analysis.
1.      Instructional decision #1- Example:  Teach “Transition Time”.  Practice using specific instruction and PRACTICE in behavioral expectations and routines when transitioning from one activity to another.
2.      Instructional decision #2- Example:  Group other children in Anna’s class who are having difficulty transitioning between activities.  Plan “stations” were Anna’s group practices the specific instructions and behavior expectations previously “taught”.
3.      Instructional decision #3-Example:  Set aside a time for Anna and teacher to work independently on transition time.  “Teach” specific instructions and practice behavioral expectations.

Long-Term Goal (3 to 4 paragraphs)-Explain one specific long-term goal for Anna Smith based on the data analysis.
*Include a specific timeline related to your short term goal
Eample:  Anna will be able to transition between activities within a two-week time span (after implementation of short-term goals).  Therefore, the target date of January 17 (two weeks from the January 3 assessment).

Conclusion-Write a short conclusion that informs the reader of the main points from the assignment (summarize what you discussed in your paper)
*Recommendation, include:
·        Restate child’s name-Anna Smith
·        Restate the three assessments (checklist, anecdotal record, rating scales)
·        Restate what will the assessment help to identify?
·        Restate contents of document (general assessment observation, child observation, short-term and long term goals)

“Ulysses” by Alfred Lord Tennyson; and
“That Time of Year” (Sonnet 73) by William Shakespeare (watch the video lecture on William Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 73”for more ideas to help you write your essay on this poem).

Consider the following questions for the poem that you have chosen:

What is or are the theme(s) of the poem?
Is there a literal setting or situation in the poem? What lines from the poem tell the reader this information? What details does the author include?
Is the setting symbolic?
How would you describe the mood of the poem? What elements contribute to this mood?
Is the title significant to the poem’s content or meaning? How?
What major literary devices and figures of speech does the poet use to communicate the theme(s)?
How are rhyme and other metrical devices used in the poem? Do they support the poem’s overall meaning? Why or why not?
Is the identity of the poem’s narrator clear? How would you describe this person? What information, if any, does the author provide about him or her?
Does the narrator seem to have a certain opinion of or attitude about the poem’s subject matter? How can you tell?

NOTE: These questions are a means of getting your thoughts in order when you are collecting information for your essay. You do not need to include the answers to all of these questions in your essay; only include those answers that directly support your thesis statement.

2-2 milestone one | Applied Sciences homework help

Overview
Identifying a research problem is the first step toward creating a research question. One of the most effective ways of identifying a research problem is through conducting a literature review of existing research to identify research methodology trends in the field. As you identify these trends, new research problems will begin to emerge to you.
In this assignment, you will identify a research problem and consider how it relates to your field of study. Later, this will become a research question in your Project Three: Research Questions. To eventually craft this complex research question, you will need to conduct a preliminary literature review of research to see what has already been studied in your field. This step will help you identify trends in research problems and methodologies so you can hone your own research problem into a well-thought-out and complex question.
A well-developed research question is complex in nature and is best tied to a specific type of research study: quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methodology. Therefore, in the Project One: Research Methods in Social Sciences you will need to identify research studies of each type that will help you eventually develop your research question for Project Three: Research Questions.
Prompt
To support your identification and evaluation of each type of research study in Project One: Research Methods in Social Sciences, you will examine any trends in research methodology relating to your problem, including any difficulties you have in finding different types of research. You will evaluate how these difficulties may limit the research questions you can ask and present challenges for researching your chosen topic. Finally, you will determine what changes you can make to overcome these challenges and find all three types of research related to your chosen research problem. This assignment will prepare you to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each type of research methodology in Module Four.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

Describe the relationship between your chosen research problem and the field of study. Include answers to the following:

What is the research problem you would like to explore further?
How does your research problem relate to your field of study?

Evaluate the impact of methodology trends for your chosen research problem. Include answers to the following questions:

What methodologies are commonly used to study your research problem? Why do you think that is?
What methodologies are less commonly used to study your research problem? Why do you think that is?
How would finding few research study methodologies impact your research question?

Determine methods for overcoming challenges that impact the development of complex research questions. Include answers to the following questions:

If you can’t find a type of methodology, what do you think that says about your research problem?
How could you potentially still use your chosen research problem and find research studies that use each methodology? What changes might you need to make so you can find examples of each methodology?

Development and Delivery of An Effective HRD Program Discussion

Respond to the following question below . The needs assessment phase of the HRD process model establishes the foundation of the HRD training program (Werner, 2018, p. 141). It is considered a process by which needs are identified and articulated (Werner, 2018, p. 121). Without a road map to get you from Place A to Place B, you would get lost, the same is true for the needs assessment phase of the HRD model, without it there would be no “map” showing what is to be accomplished from the training program. One of the most; if not the most, critical task in the training process is the needs assessment phase (Sleezer, 1993, p. 248). This step affects the trainees, the organization, the quality of the training program, as well as the effectiveness of the training program (Sleezer, 1993, p. 249). The needs assessment phase uses strategic, task, and person levels to identify where and in what conditions training is needed, what needs to be done to effectively perform, who needs training and in what form should the training be presented (Werner, 2018, p. 123). The needs assessment phase also considers that resources available to use for training are limited for many organizations and that training should be prioritized to have the greatest impact on the organization (Werner, 2018, p. 144). Providing this road map for training helps identify what KSAOs should be included, as well as helps encourage buy-in from supervisors, managers, and employees especially if they are included in the assessment process (Werner, 2018, p. 140). Objectives should be established as the next steps in the HRD model after needs assessments have been evaluated. Objectives are defined as a “description of a performance you want learners to be able to exhibit before you consider them competent,” per Robert Mager (Werner, 2018, p. 158). Therefore training program objectives describe the intent and desired results of the HRD program (Werner, 2018, p. 158). Establishing objectives also helps form the basis for determining the methods that will be used to achieve the desired outcomes the organization seeks from the training program. Objectives are used to not only form the basis for determining methods but are also used to select the content of the program and to evaluate the program’s success. Clear set objectives can also help trainees focus their attention and efforts during the program, by providing guidance on what and where the program is going along with how to know when they have reached their training goals (Werner, 2018, p. 159). Without clearly defined objectives in the design phase, both learning and evaluation will be less likely to succeed. In order for objectives to be effective, they must link with outcomes, like reaction, learning, application, impact, and return on investment, but also have three critical aspects (Werner, 2018, p. 159). Objectives should be able to describe the performance trainees should be able to do, the conditions under which they must perform these objectives, and finally how well this has been accomplished. Sometimes just simply stated objectives are enough to change employee behavior without addition training interventions. Also clearly defined objectives can represent the organization’s expectations, which have an overall effect on employee behavior (Werner, 2018, p. 160). In summary, objectives help support not only the training program but also those undergoing training by giving them a set of expectations for success. Sleezer, C. (1993). Module 1 – SLP
FOR the Session Long Projects you will also be applying the concepts from the background materials. But instead of applying them to yourself, you will imagine that you are a leadership development coach who is hired to by organizations to diagnosis or give advice to managers. For each of the situations below, explain what advice or diagnosis you would give them based on your knowledge of the background readings. Make sure to cite at least one of the required background readings in each of your answers. Your paper should be two to three pages in length:
1.     Susan is a manager who decides to assess her strengths using some of the 24 classifications of the Values in Action Inventory of Strengths that you read about for this module. She discovers that two of her biggest strengths are “humor” and “teamwork.” She concludes that since these are her strengths she doesn’t need to change anything regarding her use of these strengths. Do you think this is a good use of her assessment, or should she make changes to her use of humor and teamwork? If so, what kind of changes?
2.     Harold has an MBA from Harvard and is focused on becoming a CEO before he is 45 years old. He is very good at networking and often makes friends with those who rank higher than him at his current organization. However, employees under his supervision feel that he often makes decisions based on what will get him promoted rather than on what is best for his employees or his organization. How would you characterize his emotional intelligence (EQ) skills based on the different elements of EQ discussed in the background readings? Be specific regarding which elements of EQ you think he is likely high on or which elements you think he may be lacking.
3.     Carl is known as a very caring manager based on his ability to understand his employee’s problems and taking careful to time to get to know each and every employee. He is personally well liked by all of his employees. However, the one complaint they do have about Carl is that he gets very upset when things don’t go well and takes things very personally. For example, when he found out that profitability for his unit had fallen over the last month he was so upset he had to take a couple of sick days off from work. How would you characterize his emotional intelligence (EQ) skills based on the different elements of EQ discussed in the background readings? Be specific regarding which elements of EQ you think he is likely high on or which elements you think he may be lacking.

Independence University Raster vs Vector Art Discussion

Raster vs. Vector Art Career Relevancy It is imperative to have a great understanding of the similarity and differences between raster and vector artwork, and when and where to use each. In addition, today’s graphic designer needs to recognize vector vs. raster tools or programs and file formats. This understanding is not only critical, but it is considered part of the basic toolset that a designer has because the type of format used points to how the image renders in different situations.Vector artwork, in a nutshell, is a type of graphic that uses mathematical algorithms, allowing the image to be scaled or modified without loss of image quality or resolution. Vector graphics are often referred to as resolution independent, as they take on the resolution of the output device that they are being printed on. For example, a vector graphic will print clearly, whether it is the size of a business card or a billboard, whereas, a raster graphic sized for a business card enlarged to billboard size would pixelate. Vector graphics are the native file format from Adobe Illustrator and often have file extension which includes .ai, .pdf, .eps, and .svg.On the other hand, we have raster graphics. Raster graphics are resolution dependent, which means that they are created from pixels. Each pixel is a particular size and color, and the combined pixels create an image. Photographs are raster graphics, as are illustrations created in Photoshop. Where vector artwork can be resized – up or down – with no loss in image quality, the same cannot be said for raster images. Taking a raster image down in size works just fine. Bringing it up in size doesn’t work at all – the edges get very jagged because the actual pixels are being blown up and we can now see them with the naked eye.Creating pixel-based artwork is a little more intuitive since brushes work like handheld brushes and so on. Though a little more complex to learn, vector artwork is very worth the time and effort. Logos, for example, must be created as vector art since they are utilized in so many sizes and formats. From the size of a postage stamp to the size of a billboard, a company’s logo must be clear, recognizable and easy to read. Besides, converting from vector to raster is easy. Converting from raster to vector takes quite a bit of effort, so when you can start in vector for a project, it’s a good idea! For this discussion, read through the scenario of Land Ho Boating’s design needs then discuss the problems and give possible solutions presented below based on what you have learned about the differences between raster and vector artwork and using it in different types of deliverables.Designer A specializes in website design. Part of their contract is to also design the logo for the website. The designer created a terrific logo for Land Ho Boating’s website. It has several gradients and a few drop shadows too, so it really leaps off the page,Designer B works in a sign shop and has been asked to create the signage for their marina that their logo will be prominently placed. Land Ho Boating gives Designer B the logo Designer A created for the website. For your citation, you might use articles that show examples of how Illustrator deals with raster effects or how Photoshop deals with vector art. You can also find articles from experts that suggest how to deal with original artwork sizes when creating something that involves both vector art and raster-like effects.Your initial and reply posts should work to develop a group understanding of this topic. Challenge each other. Build on each other. Always be respectful but discuss this and figure it out together.Instructions (if needed) to upload and embed images to the discussion: (make sure you reference all images you use)
