Modern Paradigm Shift Discussion Reply

read this article and write down your own opinions   200 word requiredUber, an online app that helps users get a taxi, is a great example for modern paradigm shift. Paradigm shift can be understood as a change in a trend or a norm. Uber in this case, has shifted the norm on how to get a taxi. For example, when one needs to get a taxi, he goes on the street, raise his hand, and wait until a taxi driver pulls over. When Uber started expanding their market in 2011, this is when we see one of Peter Drucker’s 7 Sources of Innovation comes in. “Industry and Market Structure Change” is what I would best describe how Uber hits the market. With technology advances rapidly, business can be overthrown in a night. Uber caught this opportunity right when people become heavily reliable on smartphone or any mobile devices. It has changed the market structure into an online world where taxi drivers or actually anyone who signed up and qualified to be a driver, can be requested on people mobile devices. This paradigm shift has made great impact on not only taxi service, it also changed business like hospitality. Airbnb is an online platform where people can find places to live in; these places are also from the users as they sublease their places for people to rent. Both Uber and Airbnb possess one common trait, they created job opportunities while providing convenience to the public. When the market structure changes, it is when businesses should consider getting out of their comfort-zone to stay on top of the trend and not get swung away by the paradigm shift.

Effect of debt issuance on stock valuation

Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate to students how the issuance of debt to purchase outstanding common stock could affect the value of the company’s equity and redefine the capital structure. The problem will also allow students to explore the effect of corporate taxes through debt financing.
Assignment Steps
Resources: Corporate Finance
Scenario: Hightower, Inc. plans to announce it will issue $2.0 million of perpetual debt and use the proceeds to repurchase common stock. The bonds will sell at par with a coupon rate of 5%. Hightower, Inc. is currently an all-equity company worth $7.5 million with 400,000 shares of common stock outstanding. After the sale of the bonds, the company will maintain the new capital structure indefinitely. The company currently generates annual pretax earnings of $1.5 million. This level of earnings is expected to remain constant in perpetuity. The tax rate is 35%.
Prepare a 1,050-word memo advising the management of Hightower, Inc. on the financial impact, including the following:

What is the expected return on the company’s equity before the announcement of the debt issue?
Construct the company’s market value balance sheet before the announcement of the debt issue. What is the price per share of the firm’s equity?
Construct the company’s market value balance sheet immediately after the announcement of the debt issue.
What is the company’s stock price per share immediately after the repurchase announcement?
How many shares will the company repurchase as a result of the debt issue? How many shares of common stock will remain after the repurchase?
What is the required return on the company’s equity after the restructuring?
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of debt financing over equity financing.

Show all calculations and submit with your memo.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Unit 1 ip– introduction to substance abuse

You have learned that Mr. Potts does not drink alcohol in the mornings. He does not binge drink, and he does not drink on Sundays. He does, however, drink the other 6 days of the week. Mrs. Potts explains his pattern of drinking Monday through Friday with his partners as stated in the scenario, but he does not drink at home on those days. She also informs you that he does drink on Saturdays at home, often starting in the afternoon and passing out by dinnertime. He has a history of being loud, frightening, and angry when under the influence of alcohol. You also learn that Mr. Potts’s father was a winemaker from Italy. Your supervisor, Officer Rexford, suggests that you apply your knowledge of issues surrounding alcoholism and alcohol addiction to this case and write a memo to him. The memo should include the proper headings: “To,” “From,” “Date,” and “Re:.” The docket number and probation case file number should be included in the “Re:” section. You are beginning to determine whether Mr. Potts has an issue with alcohol that needs to be further addressed.
In the memo, do the following:

Submit the assignment in the format of a memo.
Include the proper headings: “To,” “From,” “Date,” and “Re:.” The docket number and probation case file number need to be included in the “Re:” section.
Apply the facts of Mr. Potts’s case to the definitions of alcoholism and alcohol addiction.
Apply these facts to the differences between alcohol use and abuse.
Apply these facts to the DSM-IV criteria for a diagnosis of alcohol abuse.
Apply these facts to the disease model of alcohol abuse.

Apply these facts to the role genetics and heredity may play in the transmission of alcoholism from one generation to another.

Physics | Science homework help

1. Give an example of a physical situation where a force does work. Explain why work is done in this situation.
2.

Consider the following situation: A child sits in a swing at a playground. Her father pulls her back and releases her so that she swings back and forth. The motion of the swing changes over time, and eventually the swing is at rest.
What measurable quantity determines the potential energy in this situation? When is it a maximum? When is it a minimum?

3.

Consider the following situation: A child sits in a swing at a playground. Her father pulls her back and releases her so that she swings back and forth. The motion of the swing changes over time, and eventually the swing is at rest.
What measurable quantity determines the kinetic energy in this situation? When is it a maximum? When is it a minimum?

4.When the swing is first released it has mechanical energy. When it comes to rest, it has none. If the law of Conversation of Energy says that the energy of a system stays constant, how can we explain this using the physics of energy?

Carlos and Cathy are standing still at the bottom of the stairs in the LTB. Both climb the stairs to the mezzanine and stop there. Assume that both students have the same mass.
In this process, did Carlos do more work than Cathy? Did Cathy do more work than Carlos? Explain.

6.

Carlos and Cathy are standing still at the bottom of the stairs in the LTB. Both climb the stairs to the mezzanine and stop there. Assume that both students have the same mass.
If I told you that Cathy had a higher average power output than Carlos during this time, what would I have noticed was different if I had watched them climb the stairs?

Psyc 250: quantitative methods in psychology assignment 2 question 2

QUESTION 2

Why do people often hold overly favorable views of their abilities?

In a well-known study by Kruger and Dunning (1999), the authors suggested that “this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it” (from abstract). This overconfidence on the part of unskilled persons has been called the Kruger-Dunning effect.
As an illustration of this effect, suppose we had a group of 48 students take part in a research study for course credit. These students were told that they would be taking a test of logical reasoning. Before the test, all of them were asked to rate how well they would do for the test relative to the others in the group (“What percentile do you think your score will be in?”). Immediately after the test, these students were asked to rate how well they did for the test relative to the others (“What percentile do you think your score will be in?”). These before and after percentile ratings were compared to the actual scores that the students obtained.
If there is over-confidence on the part of the unskilled, we would expect the poorest performing students (both in absolute and in relative terms) to rate themselves more highly than their actual scores would merit.

a. Using hand calculations, conduct the appropriate test to analyze this data. State your conclusion clearly, and conduct any post-hoc analyses as necessary (no need to report in APA format). Assume that all assumptions of the test are satisfied.
[4 marks]
b. Explain how the overconfidence effect is illustrated in your analysis.

GCU The Methods Used in Researchs Discussion Response

Respond with a comment to  the discussion question below:”Qualitative researchers are not so concerned with reliability but rather with a concept called dependability.  With dependability, the emphasis is not on the stable and reproducible, rather it is about how the researcher responds to and makes sense of changing contexts” (Schmidt, 2018).  “Quantitative research involves measurements that are reproducible and accurate, also known as direct measures.  Direct measures are concrete objects that can be measured, such as heart rate, weight, or temperature” (Schmidt, 2018).Strengths of qualitative research are the understanding of beliefs, assumptions, and behavior of values.  Qualitative research also leads to more exploration with broad, open-ended questions (Choy, 2014). Strengths of quantitative research are the critical analysis of the data increasing reliability, the short term time frame for the actual survey, numerical data for groups, and the extent to whether or not survey respondents agree or disagree (Choy, 2014).Weaknesses of qualitative research are a high volume of data for interpretation, and the skills of the interviewer must be refined to control this data without limiting the study. It can be time consuming to organize and categorize the huge amount of data and it can also be difficult to define an objectively verifiable result (Choy, 2014).  Weaknesses of quantitative research are the lack of feelings, beliefs, human perception, depth experience description, and resources for a bid study with a long-time frame.  This method can not show beliefs in a numerical number (Choy, 2014).To summarize when combining the two methods of research they tend to compliment one another and eliminate a lot of the weaknesses identified, by furthermore strengthening the research when applied to the same topic and also can eliminate bias. “Mixed methods research involves combining the quantitative and qualitative threads into data conversion and using those results to make meta-inferences about the research question” (Rutberg, Bouikidis, 2018).

Mhr 6551 unit 2 project

Unit II PowerPoint Presentation

Course PowerPoint Presentations:

This course will utilize a building block approach to complete PowerPoint Presentations that you “build” as you complete unit assignments. The following units have presentations that can be combined at the end of the course and added to a professional portfolio: Unit II, Unit V, and Unit VI.

Unit II PowerPoint Presentation:

Select an HRD need that you would like to focus on for the series of PowerPoint Presentations. This HRD need should pertain to your current organization, but if circumstances do not allow, please feel free to use a volunteer organization or a personal HRD need as the subject for this project. Create a PowerPoint Presentation for senior executives that will serve as the initial step of the needs analysis process to include the following:

• Referencing the diagnostic, analytic, or compliance, determine the method for selecting a performance issue to be improved.
• Identify the stakeholders of the HRD need, describing their position and role as it relates to this project.
• Include a communication plan that describes the overall HRD and strategic planning process for the selected organization.
• Explain and establish the importance of scheduling, and outline a timeline for conducting needs assessment.

Your presentation should include 8-10 slides, including the title and reference slide, with speaker notes of no more than 100 words. Use your textbook to complete this assignment as well as supplementary sources from your research. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations.

Business finance – operations management person-focused pay

OVERVIEWPerson-focused pay programs are not really new. Various early forms of these programs appeared in the 1980s. Organizational adoption was slow partly because they can very quickly drive labor costs up. Why is this changing? Explain the reasons for this change. Consider Susan Jackson’s situation. Susan is a young professional in her 8th year of her technological manufacturing career since graduating from college. She is frustrated by the lack of opportunity to showcase her talent and skillset. Susan feels like she has so much more to offer than is asked of her. Consequently, she is once again on the job market. If she succeeds in her search, Susan will join her third organization in 8 years. Explain why a job with a person-focused pay program might help alleviate her frustration. Finally, what are the potential advantages and disadvantages of these programs for the organization? For the employee?
