A successful trainer needs to effectively engage various types of  trainees and adapt quickly in the learning environment to meet their  needs. Chapter 8 of the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text lists and  offers tips on dealing with different participant personalities. Review  the three scenarios below. Discuss how you would effectively engage and  manage each group of participants in a 2-day training seminar. Apply two  to three specific adult learning principles and/or techniques to each  of the scenarios listed below.
Scenario A Your colleague is a training specialist who has just  concluded an activity on techniques for overcoming challenges in the  classroom. He clearly understood the content, but did not ask questions  of the group to confirm their understanding. In addition, when  explaining activities, the directions were not clear and there was never  an opportunity to ask for clarification. What constructive feedback  would you give to your colleague?
Scenario BYour colleague is a department manager who has just  opened a training session. Her opening included group introductions, but  she went directly into presenting content. About an hour later, a few  participants began talking out of turn. What feedback would you give to  your colleague on the impact this may have had on participants, and what  could have been done differently to avoid this situation?
Scenario CYour colleague is a human resources manager who just  completed an activity followed by a group discussion. The activity went  well, but the debrief did not. As the facilitator, he had trouble  getting the group to answer his questions. The group did not appear to  be very engaged. What feedback could you give him on how he could get  participants to participate?

Everything we touch that is electronic has a Human to Computer Interface (HCI). Some companies put a lot of effort into the user experience; some, not so much. Some are very complex with enormous functionality (computer operating systems and smartphones) and some are much simpler (ATMs, gas station pumps, lottery ticket machines, movie dispensing machines).
For this assignment, choose either a simple interface (one with a few options) or a singular function of a more complex item (like a singular function of your smartphone, such as to create and send an email). Remember that there are several options for many of these. Visit the interface that you chose.
NOTE: Keep your selection to something simple, as you will find there are many options even in a simple task.
Write a paper in which you address the following:
1. Research history and background of the HCI (just a few of paragraphs).
2. From your chosen HCI, describe all the steps and options that are available to use and complete the task. 
3. Build an Activity Diagram such as those on pages 138 Figure 5-5 and 139 Figure 5-6 of the textbook. Use Visio, MS Word or your choice of program that can create an activity diagram. YOU NEED TO CREATE THE DIAGRAM, NOT TAKE ONE FROM THE INTERNET.
4. Reflect on the experience. Do you feel the process you chose was well designed? Do you think it can be improved?

Using the following scenario, advocate for one of these issues for a nationwide law. 

Scenario: You are working for your  state’s health department and are advocating for a nationwide law to  accomplish the goal you selected from above list. As part of your  campaign, you must write a letter to one of your federal legislators.  For Part II of this discussion, you will be drafting that letter. You  are limited to no more than two pages of single-spaced type (12 point  font), so your letter must be succinct and follow the protocols outlined  in your reading for this week. Refer to the Sample Letters to Legislators for additional information on how to format, address, and compose a letter of this nature.

Do the following: 

Research and identify one federal legislator from your state who you  feel should have an interest in your chosen issue. Every state has its  own federal legislators in both the House of Representatives and the  Senate. Therefore, the individuals to choose from will be different for  each state. Make sure the address line and your salutation properly  addresses your selected individual.
Compose your letter and state your case in favor of a nationwide law  to address your chosen health issue. Formal letters such as these  generally do not include APA-cited references, so you do not have to  include in-text citations within your letter. However, you must clearly  reference major statistics and other documents within your letter as  your chosen legislator will want to know which law or issue you are  addressing. For example, “The Institutes of Medicine found that…” or  “According to the National Transportation Safety Board…”

In this journal entry, you will explore the historical context for John Millington Synge’s Riders to the Sea. In his 1911 introduction to the play, an American writer named Edward J. O’Brien suggests that Maurya’s suffering is a virtue: “It is their virtue in life to be lonely, and none but the lonely man in tragedy may be great. He dies, and then it is the virtue in life of the women, mothers and wives and sisters to be great in their loneliness, great as Maurya, the stricken mother, is great in her final word.” Using the idea of tragedy to describe actual suffering sometimes suggests that there is something noble and mysterious about the difficulties people face. The word tragedy may even suggest that some larger or uncontrollable force, much like the sea, may be the ultimate source of the suffering.
However, historical studies of Ireland in the mid to late 19th century reveal that many Irish people were driven from their farmlands to the less fertile lands along the coast after the Great Famine (1845 – 1852). Fishing was not a primary occupation for most of the people displaced to the coast, and in contrast to farming, it proved be a much more dangerous way of acquiring food and money. Synge’s family, however, belonged to the wealthier, landowning class in Ireland. The very same class of people who were largely responsible for the evictions that took place during the Great Famine. Begin your research by reading a short entry on Riders to the Sea in The Encyclopedia of Americana from 1920. Next, your Module 4 Readings document includes a few pages of Richard Barry O’Brien’s account of the evictions in his book, Fifty Years of Concessions to Ireland (1883). Compare his account to a report given by the Liberal Union of Ireland in The Plan of Campaign(1892) on pages 36 – 37. This reading is also included in the Module 4 Readings.
Finally, on your own, find three sources of information about the Great Famine or the Irish Potato Famine, as it is commonly referred to in America. These sources can include other artistic works such as songs, paintings, or documentary films. Explain how this historical context helps to provide a better understanding of Synge’s play. Do you think Synge’s play sheds more light on the socio-economic factors surrounding the difficult lives of the people of Aran, or does the playwright tend to romanticize or idealize their suffering?

As the mice are genetically the same, some genes are turned “on” or “off”. This allows the genetically identical mice to have different appearance. In this case, DNA methylation, or the methyl group will attach to a gene controlling its behavior. Controlling if it is “on” or “off”. To me, this is absolutely mind blowing. Humans can alter what genes show their presence and what genes do not. This can be done on the scientific scale, but also by the individual, through certain lifestyle habits. With that information, it would make sense as to why certain ways of living can lead to similar effects as other living the same lifestyles. Looking at society, peoples lifestyles have a clear impact on their body and appearance, but the fact that it also changes what we can’t see. Being able to change the body on the genetic level throws me for a loop. Very interesting and very cool. Definitely learned a lot from this video!
