Assignment 2: lasa 1: theories of development and application

Description
In this assignment, you will explore and apply theories of development to your personal experiences.
Background
Understanding theories of development is key in psychology. All people proceed through specific areas of change and growth in key areas as they go through life. Whatever path we take in life, understanding theories of development will assist us in motivating and guiding others, as well as understanding ourselves.
Instructions
Apply the theories of development to your personal life experience by answering each of the following questions.

Jean Piaget’s Stage Theory of Cognitive Development: At what age do you feel you entered the stage of Formal Operational Thought? Explain the stage briefly and then focus on providing examples of ways your thinking has shifted to indicate you have developed into this stage of reasoning. (For instance, provide an example of how your views of justice or morality have shifted as you’ve matured.)

Developmental Stage Theory of Erik Erikson: Choose one stage from Erikson’s Developmental Stage Theory and apply it to your own life. Explain the stage, age that it occurs, and how the central challenge of that stage played out in your life. What was the outcome of this stage for you? Did anything happen in your life prior to that stage that affected the outcome? How does the outcome from that stage affect how you are today? Provide specific details that demonstrate your understanding of the stage you choose.

Lawrence Kohlberg’s Theory of Moral Development: Considering the moral or ethical decisions that you have made in your life, describe one decision you made based on one of the three levels of moral development. Be sure to clearly explain the level of moral development and clearly identify the underlying ethical reasoning behind your decision. (For instance, you may explain a decision you made based on Preconventional morality when you were a child, or you may focus on a decision you made from a higher level of development as an adult.)

Developmental Milestones: Motor Development. The unfolding of biological potential is known as “maturation.” Motor skill development in babies is mostly controlled by the process of maturation. Think about a child that you have known (yourself, your own child, a friend or family member). Describe how the child progressed from rolling over, to sitting, standing, and walking. At what age did each milestone occur? Did the development occur in a “typical” sequence based on what you’ve learned in your text? Is there anything that occurred in the child’s environment that either delayed motor development or facilitated it? What is the difference between “maturation” and “learning,” based on your readings and observation?

Your response should be a 3–4-page Microsoft Word document written in a clear, concise, and organized manner. Be sure to demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources (i.e., APA); and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Poetry analysis comparison contrast

Paper #1: Poetry Analysis Comparison Contrast
Due Week 6
Minimum page requirement: 4-5 pages/1000-1250 words
Double-spaced
MLA documented
Steps for Writing a Poetry Analysis
1.Read each poem twice. Try to analyze your first impression of it and write down a few comments.
2.Research the author of the poems if you are not familiar with him or her yet, and the history of the poem’s creation. Try to find out what inspired the poet and what gave rise to the idea for this particular poem, whether it was a reflection on what the poet personally experienced or witnessed, etc.
3.Read the poems once again, this time slower. Try to pay attention to the particular word selection, organization of the poem and poetic figures used, etc.
4.Start your poetry analysis with a description of the story, or situation, depicted in the poem. Make sure to answer these questions: Where? When? What happened? What is described? Who is involved? Pay attention to how the author develops the story and what instruments are used to indicate the culmination of the poem.
5.Now move on to the technical side of your poetry analysis. Analyze the poem’s rhyme and meter, and the structure of each stanza. Define each poetic figure used and give specific examples of allegories, metaphors, hyperboles, personifications, similes, litotes, and other literary devices. Try to identify the mood of each stanza, whether it is ironic, sad, cheerful, bitter, romantic, philosophical, etc.
6.Give your personal reflection of the poems – what you think it is about (normally, there is a figurative sense behind every poem). Here you can go back to your primary research about the author and the poem’s history.
7.Give a conclusion. Mention, whether you enjoyed the poems and whether the poet, in your opinion, succeeded in bringing particular feelings and ideas to the reader (the one the author supposedly intended to bring up, in your understanding of the poems).

Poem I
By Pablo Neruda
If You Forget Me
I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

Poem II
By Sara Teasdale
I Am Not Yours
I am not yours, not lost in you,
Not lost, although I long to be
Lost as a candle lit at noon,
Lost as a snowflake in the sea.

You love me, and I find you still
A spirit beautiful and bright,
Yet I am I, who long to be
Lost as a light is lost in light.

Oh plunge me deep in love put out
My senses, leave me deaf and blind,
Swept by the tempest of your love,
A taper in a rushing wind.

Answer to this essay -200 words minimum(o)

I need to make an answer based on this essay on Purnell Model as a cultural competence. Must be a minimum of 200 words. References supporting the answer should be included.
Purnell model contains rings that explain the development of cultural awareness and how it expands. It outlines the elements that impact an individual’s culture. This model is utilized as a model for teaching intercultural competence in different professions. Even though this model was initially developed to be applied to nursing students, it can be used by other professions such as teaching and management among others (Mardis Oberg, 2019). It uses various ideas and concepts on individuals, cultures, healthcare professionals, and healthcare. With this model, it makes it possible to create and evaluate cultural competence. The cultural characteristics may be based on factors such as religion, race, sexual orientation, physical characteristics, and gender, among others.
The Purnell model contains twelve cultural domains. The first domain is the overview/heritage. It describes concepts that are related to a country of origin, politics, economics, and occupation, among others. Second domain is communication. This involves the concepts that are linked to languages and dialects. Third domain is family roles and organization. Its concepts are interconnected with the head of a household and roles based on gender. The fourth domain is the workforce. Its concepts are linked to autonomy and communication styles based on ethnicity, among others. The fifth domain is bicultural ecology. Its concepts are based on an individual ethnic and racial origin. Sixth domain is high-risk behavior. This may involve issues such as the use of drugs, among others. Seventh domain is nutrition. Its concepts are involved with an individual’s nutrition such as food choices (Mardis Oberg, 2019). The eighth domain is pregnancy and childbearing which is involved with concepts that are related to fertility practices. The ninth domain is death rituals which are involved with the cultural view of death. The tenth domain is spirituality which is involved with religious practices. Eleventh domain is healthcare practices which focus mainly on healthcare. The last domain is healthcare practitioner which focuses on concepts such as status and perceptions of tradition.
Assumptions
The first assumption of the Purnell model is that all healthcare professionals should be impacted by the same information on cultural diversity. All healthcare professions should also have the same metaparadigm concepts of health, person, community, and family. The second assumption is that no culture is superior to the other. Cultures are different but have similarities. The third assumption is for a caregiver to increase or improve their self-awareness, they need to know about cultural awareness. The fourth assumption is that for a provision of culturally sensitive and culturally competent care, healthcare professionals need to have information on cultural-general and cultural-specific. The fifth assumption is that there are various factors that healthcare should consider for it to be effective. Some include attitudes, beliefs, and values among others (Mardis Oberg, 2019). The sixth assumption of this model is that understanding culture will help in reducing cases of bias and prejudice. Lastly, everyone should be respected regardless of their cultural heritage or uniqueness.
How this model helps us to provide cultural competence healthcare
Purnell model may be used by healthcare providers in any healthcare setting and hence may help in the provision of a team-oriented healthcare environment. The model provides a framework that can be used by healthcare providers in different settings and disciplines. This model will hence lead to improved opportunities, provision of individualized care, and prevention of illnesses and diseases (Douglas, Pacquiao Purnell, 2018). With the general knowledge and skills in culture, healthcare professionals will be culturally competent.

(long-term english language learners) 200 word (this not an essay,

Chapter 1 of our text defines long-term English learners (LTELs) as ” learners who have been enrolled for more than six years and are not making substantial academic progress” (Piper, 2015). Using information introduced in Chapter 1 and the Menken and Kleyn (2009) article, “The Difficult Road for Long-Term English Learners”, address the following:

Describe the characteristics of an LTEL.
Provide suggestions on how teachers can address the challenges of LTELs to move them to a proficient level of English learning.
Share your opinion on how much accountability should be placed on administrators, teachers, students, and parents respectively.

Refer to and properly cite the sources from which you are basing your position.

As you learn more about English language learners, youll discover one particular sub-group which provides its own unique challenges: long termers.  Many were actually born in the United States, but are still in program.  Why is this so?  What can teachers do about these students?  What affect does this status have on these ELLs?  One dismal statistic that has emerged from examining the characteristics of LTELs in New York City schools found that the average grade for this group of students was 69.20 percent. This type of feedback begins to slowly wear away at a student’s motivation and desire to learn (Syrja, 2011, p.17).  Have you heard of effort optimism?  Feel free to discuss in a reply to these tips!
Here is the scoring rubric for this discussion posting:

I purchased a solution on here, but my school rates it is 99% not original. I am asking for a refund since I didnt know its been used a million times and is no use to me:/ I also thought I had someone helping me this weekend and was completely you know whated over, and it was an online place. So, I am very weary of this, and really need help!! This needs to be original!
MUST be Written in JAVA with Netbeans

The first step in writing a software application is to determine the requirements. There is no value in writing a program that does not address the needs of the client. Requirements can be gathered in many ways, but ultimately, the requirements serve to document what the application should and should not do. After the requirements are written, the application design can be prepared, followed by the actual coding. For this project, you will gain some practice in the design phase of software development by designing a program that will meet a given set of requirements.

Develop a console program that simulates a section of a restaurant menu. Each item will have a different price and your program should define at least ten (10) items. You will need to obtain an order from the user who should provide their menu selection along with quantity. The total cost for the meal must be calculated. The user will enter the amount of their payment ($10, $20, etc.). The program needs to calculate the amount due back to the user (payment minus total cost of meal).

The project instructions and deliverables are as follows:

MUST be Written in JAVA with Netbeans

Create a document in Word (name the design document yourName_Unit2.IP), and add the following:
·        Title page
·        Course number and name
·        Project name
·        Student name
·        Date
·        List the data items that must be stored and used by the program. Each data item should be given a name for reference.
·        Develop a UML class diagram that illustrates the data items for your program.
·        List the decisions the program must make. References to the data items in the previous step should be used where appropriate.
·        Describe the flow of operation of the program by preparing pseudocode or a UML activity diagram. All key activities should be included, and references to the data items and decisions listed in the previous steps should be used.

Create a zip that includes your project folder and Word document, and upload it

Research and psychology -please give your opinion

Hypotheses: Teenagers who spend more time per day on social media sites such as Facebook are more likely to have lower self esteem than their peers who spend less time per day on social media

The research method I would use for this study is a correlational design, which would allow us to see to see if there is a positive or negative correlation between social media use and teenagers self esteem (Lilienfeld, Lynn, Namy, Woolf, 2011.) A case study would not be of much use in this situation, because it would be difficult to apply the experiences of one or two teenagers to teens as a whole. An experimental design would allow us to infer causation, (Lilienfeld, et al. 2011) but would be difficult to control, assuming the teenagers are all using social media for different amounts of time each day. It would also be difficult to find a control group of teenagers who are not using social media at all- there may be other factors, such as socioeconomic status, that may effect both their self esteem and their access or lack of access to social media. It would also be difficult to use naturalistic observation for this study because it is difficult to measure self esteem through observation, so some self-reporting or surveying would be required.

I would survey a randomly selected group of students from different high schools across the United States, and ask them how much time per day they spent on social media, what they typically posted about on social media sites, and which social media platforms they preferred. The second part of the survey would have them rate themselves in a few categories using a scale from 1-10 to estimate their self esteem and confidence levels. The data would then be placed on a scatterplot to see whether the correlation is positive, negative, or zero.

It would likely be challenging to find subjects willing to self-report honestly about their self esteem levels. The subjects may engage in response sets in order to make themselves appear differently, depending on what results they think the researcher is interested in. (Lilienfeld, et al. 2011) Another challenge of this study would be the lack of ability to infer causation. We could find a correlation between high amounts of time spent on social media and low self esteem in teenagers, but that does not necessarily mean that one causes the other. There could be a third variable causing one or both variables to occur. (Lilienfeld, et al. 2011)

Strategic planning final project 3/20

Final Project: A Strategic Plan

For the Final Project, you will develop a strategic plan for a new non-profit or existing government organization. As you finalize your Final Project, be sure to incorporate any feedback that you have received from your Instructor and your colleagues, as a well-developed strategic plan can help support an organization in achieving its goals.
To complete the Final Project, you will write a paper that addresses the following:
1.     Creating an Organization (Week 3)
·         Create a new non-profit organization with a global presence or identify a government organization at the local, state, or national level that works with multiple stakeholders.
·         Develop and explain the organization’s mission, values, and strategic initiatives.
·         Identify organizational stakeholders and conduct a stakeholder analysis.
2.     Analyzing Organizations (Week 5)
·         Conduct a SWOT or Appreciative Inquiry (AI) analysis.
·         Evaluate the organization from multiple sustainable perspectives, including financial considerations, positive community outcomes, and innovation.
3.     Strategic Goals (Week 7)
·         Develop 2–3 short-term goals (1–4 years) for the organization. Identify challenges that might impact these goals and explain how the organization might overcome them.
·         Develop 2–3 long-term goals (15–20 years) for the organization. Identify long-term trends (i.e., social, political, demographic, economic, ecological, technological, etc.) that might impact these goals.
·         Explain why it is important to define short-term and long-term goals. Identify resources that you might use to help you define your organizational goals.
4.     Final Paper (Week 10)
The Final Paper will include:
·         A 12- to 15-page paper (not including title page and reference list) that addresses steps 1–4 of the Final Project
