You did a great job identifying the benefits and challenges involved in using international financial statements for analysis. When we analyze local statements we know we are comparing apples to apples but when we use financial statements composed with varying sets of rules, our analysis can run into some problems.
I recommended an article from the Journal of Accountancy in the last milestone process and I found another one you may find helpful this week as well regarding the difficulty of using financial statements under various standards:
