Considering Mr. Ds advanced age, what are the benefits/risks associated with providing life-sustaining measures?
Directions:Consider the scenario below, then follow the instructions underneath it to complete the discussion. If appropriate, support your position with credible resources/examples/evidence and provide APA references.Mr. DMr. D is a 90-year-old man who was admitted to the hospital with complaints of nausea, vomiting, left arm pain, and chest pain. An electrocardiogram (ECG) is performed, and he is diagnosed as having a myocardial infarction. Mr. D has a long history of comorbidities including hypertension, diabetes, and congestive heart failure (CHF). With this in mind, the physician asks Mr. D if he wants life-sustaining measures taken (e.g., CPR, mechanical ventilation, etc.) should he experience cardiopulmonary arrest. Mr. D tells the physician that he wants all measures taken to save his life.Imagine that you are the nurse assigned to provide care to Mr. D, and address the following:Considering Mr. Ds advanced age, what are the benefits/risks associated with providing life-sustaining measures? What factors should you consider based on the Mr. Ds age and health history? If Mr. D were your family member, how would you respond to his decision?

Write a 2 page explanation of why it is important to include in a developmental supervision model the domains that Stoltenberg (2008) describes.
Developmental Models of SupervisionAlthough there are many different models of supervision, this weeks Discussion focuses on developmental models because they are perhaps the most widely used supervisory models. Developmental models are uniquely created for supervision and training. Stoltenberg (2008) suggests that a number of domains should be evaluated for supervision, including intervention skills competence, assessment techniques, interpersonal assessment, client conceptualization, theoretical orientation, professional ethics, individual differences, and treatment goals and plans. Each of these domains provides a wealth of important information for a supervisor to assess in his or her supervisee. To prepare for this Discussion, review Stoltenbergs developmental model of supervision (see Chapter 3 in Falender & Shafranske, 2008b).Write a 2 page explanation of why it is important to include in a developmental supervision model the domains that Stoltenberg (2008) describes. Then, select one domain and fully describe its function or purpose. Finally, explain how you would integrate that domain into your own model of supervision.Be sure to support your post with specific references to the Learning Resources.READINGSBeck, J. S., Sarnat, J. Write a 2 page description of your imaginary shame attack.
Can Shame Attacks Be an Effective Technique? What makes you feel embarrassment? Maybe you hate when a neighbour drops by unexpectedly and sees that your house hasn’t been cleaned recently. Maybe you fear looking silly on the dance floor so you avoid dancing at all costs. Now ask yourself a second question: What would happen if you purposefully exposed yourself to something that caused embarrassment? What if you went to your friend’s wedding and danced in the most ridiculous way you can think of for one song? How might you feel the next time you attempted to dance regularly? Albert Ellis calls this practice purposefully doing something that causes distress, embarrassment, or anxiety a shame attack. The purpose of this technique is to demonstrate that what a person says to himself/herself during the activity will actually lessen the embarrassment. You might have observed in the Week 1 REBT demonstration that Albert Ellis has a humorous and distinctly colourful personal style. Shame attack exercises are one example of various types of homework exercises that Ellis developed to expose clients to distress and embarrassment as a means of overcoming irrational thoughts by disputing those beliefs. They are designed to help the client experience and change her or his beliefs about the emotional consequences of another person’s perceptions. For this Discussion, you are asked to imagine yourself in an embarrassing situation. (You do not have to actually carry out the exercise.) What constitutes a shame attack situation will be different for everyone. You might imagine being in a grocery store and walking a stuffed pet on a stick, or singing on a public bus or train, for example. To prepare: Imagine placing yourself in a situation where the type of shame might be slightly embarrassing. As you conceptualize your situation, consider what fears or irrational thoughts you might have about the situation before it occurred. Then, consider what you might say to yourself to make the event bearable. With these thoughts in mind: Write a 2 page description of your imaginary shame attack. What did you say to yourself to make the exercise bearable? What did you learn from this exercise? Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources. Use proper APA format and citations.
Is the American dream today, as you understand it, really just about attaining wealth?
Week 6, Discussion Board Is this dystopia (an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one.)?In Sandler, Kamp, and Coopers work, we get a sense of the American Dream unraveling.a. Is the American dream today, as you understand it, really just about attaining wealth? Or is that model crumbling due to economic pressures that dont seem to be easing? How are we faring, given stiff competition in the global world? According to the definition of dystopia above, are we there? Explain.b. What is the lesson of Jay Gatsbys experience? What did he hope to attain? Was his a rational and attainable dream? Would he ever have fit in with Daisys world? What is Fitzgerald getting at, exactly, in this American classic?c. Analyze the character of Daisys husband Tom. What is his type? Who is he and who does he want to be? Why does he win in the end? What is the authors message, then?d. The Rolling Stones once claimed, You cant always get what you want, but if you try sometimes You get what you need Is this true of the characters in The Great Gatsby? Did they get what they needed in life? What did each need?e. Finally, select four quotes from The Great Gatsby that you think encapsulate this storys essence and post them in your discussion board posting. Tell why you selected each one and relate the quote to both the tragedy of Gatsby and to your own connection to the quote. For instance, I might select, They had forgotten me, but Daisy glanced up (at him) and held out her hand; Gatsby didnt know me now at all. I looked once more at them and they looked back at me, remotely, possessed by intense life (96).Here Nick sees Daisy and Gatsby totally engaged with one another. In this moment of emotion, no one else exists for them in this world. I wonder if that is really how love is when it is first uncorked and acknowledged, or if that is just romantic fantasy. The world around them has ceased to exist and they are riding on passion. There is no room left for thought or rational awareness. Love is the drug
