General purpose of the building (i.e., residence, classroom, office). Consider the hours of use, people who use the building, people who haveaccess, key control, and maintenance schedule.Who is responsible for maintenance? Is the buildingused for public events? If so, what type andhow often? Is the building normally opened to thepublic? Identify the significant factors and makerecommendations.2. Hazards involving the building or its occupants.List and prioritize (e.g., theft of office equipment, wallet theft, theft from stockrooms). Identifypotential hazards that might exist in the future.3. Police or guard security applications. What canthese guards do to improve the response to thebuilding and occupants from a patrol, investigation,or crime prevention standpoint? Would theapplication of guards be operationally effective orcost-effective?4. Physical recommendations. Inspect doors, windows, lighting, and access points. Recommendphysical changes that would make the buildingmore secure, such as pinning hinges on doors andfences.5. Locks, equipment to be bolted down, potentialapplication of card control and key control. Makespecific recommendations.6. Alarms.Would an alarm system be cost effective?Would the use of the building preclude the use ofan alarm? Are the potential benefits of an alarmsuch that the building use should be changed tofacilitate it? Consider all types of alarms, buildingwideor in specific offices. Consider closedcircuit television and portable or temporary alarmdevices.7. Storage. Identify all problems related to the proposed training and discuss why these items are problems.

CRITIQUE OF TRAINING DESIGNThis assignment gives you an opportunity to critique a training proposal and to recommend a better training design.Suggestions: Review the use of instructional design models such as ADDIE. Review the TM criteria. Review APA guidelines on levels of headings. Review academic sources on organization factors which support T&D including transfer of training.Suggestions:Consistently use required topics as headings to organize the materials. Follow APA guidelines. Balance information from the company with authoritative third-party views. Cite specific company practices which illustrate academic models and theories being applied. Focus on the required topics. The ScenarioThis scenario is adapted from:Noe, R. A. (2013). Employee training and development (6th ed.). New York, NY: McGraw-Hill Irwin. You are the human resource generalist for College Inn, a chain of modestly-priced hotels located in the Southeastern United States. Each hotel has 100 to 150 rooms, a pool, and a full service restaurant. The hotels are located near the exit ramps of major highways in three Southeastern college towns: Raleigh, NC; Columbia, SC; and Athens, GA. You just received the attached memo from the vice president of operations asking for your opinion about some training he is contracting for with outside consultants. There is no training manager for College Inn, so the vice president often contacts you for help with training in the Operations division. YOUR TASKPrepare a 2-3 page memo to the vice president of operations that critiques the proposed training. Identify all problems related to the proposed training and discuss why these items are problems. Hint: You might want to review the competencies TD professionals should possess. The Association for Talent Development (ATD) Competency Model (https://www.td.org/Certification/Competency-Model) is a good resource.Give your recommendations for improving the training design and explain how your revised design will address the VP’s expectations regarding the training.Describe at least two ways managers can support the training. Hint: You might want to review the Transfer of Learning Matrix that is listed in the Week 4 Required Reading-Transfer of Learning area. The vice president values your opinion but also likes to know what other experts have to say, so support your statements and opinions with citations from appropriate sources. The vice president is not familiar with training and development terminology, so provide definitions for key concepts and theories that you believe apply to this situation. Don’t forget to cite the source(s) of your definitions.Your memo should be two to three single-spaced pages, excluding the cover and reference pages. Please use one inch margins and a font size of at least 11 points.Include a minimum of five references in your memo. Cite reputable sources such as the readings and resources posted in our classroom, and articles published in academic or practitioner journals within the last ten years. The websites of consulting firms and blogs are not appropriate sources for this assignment. Put your references on a separate page and use APA format for all citations, quotations, and references. You might be tempted to propose conducting a detailed needs assessment but remember that the VP has already conducted a needs assessment and is eager to get started with the training. The VP mentions an article by Ross Tartell; the article can be found via the UMUC library:Tartell, R. (2014). Use focus groups for rapid needs analysis. Training, 51(2), 14.You might also want to read a bit about service recovery. Here are two articles that are available through the library:Kim, T., Yoo, J. J-E., & Lee, G. (2012). Post-recovery customer relationships and customer partnerships in a restaurant setting. International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, 24(3), 381-401. doi: 10.1108/09596111211217879Komunda, M., & Osarenkhoe, A. (2012). Remedy or cure for service failure? (Round your answer to three decimal places.) (c) The probability of three or four successes. (Round your answer to three decimal places.)4) The one-time fling! Have you ever purchased an article of clothing (dress, sports jacket, etc.), worn the item once to a party, and then returned the purchase? This is called a one-time fling. About 15% of all adults deliberately do a one-time fling and feel no guilt about it! In a group of eight adult friends, what is the probability of the following? (Round your answers to three decimal places.)(a) no one has done a one-time fling (b) at least one person has done a one-time fling (c) no more than two people have done a one-time fling5) A research team conducted a study showing that approximately 20% of all businessmen who wear ties wear them so tightly that they actually reduce blood flow to the brain, diminishing cerebral functions. At a board meeting of 20 businessmen, all of whom wear ties, what are the following probabilities? (Round your answers to three decimal places.)(a) at least one tie is too tight (b) more than two ties are too tight (c) no tie is too tight (d) at least 18 ties are not too tight6) Are your finances, buying habits, medical records, and phone calls really private? A real concern for many adults is that computers and the Internet are reducing privacy. A survey conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates for the Shell Poll was reported in USA Today. According to the survey, 47% of adults are concerned that employers are monitoring phone calls. Use the binomial distribution formula to calculate the probability of the following.(a) Out of five adults, none is concerned that employers are monitoring phone calls. (Round your answer to three decimal places.) (b) Out of five adults, all are concerned that employers are monitoring phone calls. (Round your answer to three decimal places.) (c) Out of five adults, exactly three are concerned that employers are monitoring phone calls. (Round your answer to three decimal places.)7) Tree-ring dates were used extensively in archaeological studies at Burnt Mesa Pueblo. At one site on the mesa, tree-ring dates (for many samples) gave a mean date of ?1 = year 1276 with standard deviation ?1 = 36 years. At a second, removed site, the tree-ring dates gave a mean of ?2 = year 1109 with standard deviation ?2 = 36 years. Assume that both sites had dates that were approximately normally distributed. In the first area, an object was found and dated as x1 = year 1220. In the second area, another object was found and dated as x2 = year 1249.(a) Convert both x1 and x2 to z values, and locate both of these values under the standard normal curve of the figure above. Analyze spiritually based interventions for the elderly/aging

Interventions With the Elderly/AgingAs our mortality rates decline and our medical treatment improves, life expectancy has risen significantly over the last two decades. Across the globe the aging population has increased and thus the need for services to meet this group’s needs has expanded. Holosko, Skinner, Patterson, and Brisebois (2013) provide a list of knowledge areas you should become familiar with if working with the elderly, including the biopsychosocial holistic approach, formal and informal support systems, and grief and loss, to name just a few. In this week’s content we will focus on the use of spirituality and life reviews as interventions to address some of these issues.Learning ObjectivesStudents will:Identify interventions for the elderly/agingAnalyze spiritually based interventions for the elderly/agingLearning ResourcesNote: To access this week’s required library resources, please click on the link to the Course Readings List, found in the Course Materials section of your Syllabus.Required ReadingsHolosko, M. While historically social workers were trained to avoid discussions centered on religion, we now know that spirituality encompasses many ways of believing. “The Society for Spirituality and Social Work is a network of social workers and other helping professionals dedicated to spiritually sensitive practice and education” (Society for Spirituality and Social Work, n.d.). Addressing a client’s spirituality allows for a biopsychosocial holistic approach that can aid in the process of understanding illness, disability, and end-of-life issues. For this Discussion, review the required resources and locate one scholarly article addressing spirituality with the elderly.By Day 3Post your explanation of the significance of addressing spirituality with the elderly. Identify a spiritually based intervention for this population. Describe the effectiveness of the use of spirituality with the elderly as found in the literature. Then, describe your own thoughts on the use of spirituality in an intervention.Support your posts with specific references to the Learning Resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references.By Day 5Respond to at least two colleagues who chose a different intervention and provide insight and/or feedback.Responses Michael Smith RE: Discussion – Week 11COLLAPSEAccording to Sharma, (2015), “Development means “a progressive series of changes that occur in an orderly predictable pattern as a result of maturation and experience(pg1). Old Age is Erickson’s 8th stage of development and at this stage in life, individuals tend to reflect on life with the intent on finding meaning. In looking back if they cannot find satisfaction the idea of death can bring on despair (Sharma, 2015). During this time, it’s important to address spirituality with the elderly because not only does it help them to find peace but helps to provides hope. According to Kapri & Kathpalia,(2019), “Spirituality plays an important role in the lives of all people. It is one of the most important sources of strength and direction in people’s lives. Well-being is a positive outcome that is meaningful for people’s lives. It is a human phenomenon, which exists in almost all persons (pg.129). Mindfulness-Based Interventions which stems from Buddhist philosophy is one form of the spiritual-based invention used when working with elders. Mindfulness-Based Intervention focuses on being aware and living in the moment in which at least two studies reported the intervention improving spiritual growth in breast cancer survivors (Hulett & Armer, 2016). According to (Kapri & Kathpalia, 2019), “Wang et al. (2002) found that there was no robust impact of coping strategies in relation to various categories of stress. There was evidence that the use of prayer a seek 30 religious help and talk to others about situations as coping strategies by women moderated the risk of depression in the presence of financial stress and relationship stress (pg.131). Working as a Substance Abuse Counselor I would work with clients as they worked their 12 Steps. A major part of the program’s focus was centered around accepting help from a higher power to conquer addictive behaviors. Having personally incorporated spirituality in treatment I feel that can be used as an effective intervention if you are working with someone with religious beliefs.References:Hulett, J. As the older adult population ages this comes with loss and acute feelings. This can lead to the loss of self-determination at times. According to the Clinical Social Work Journal, the United States is seen as having focus on the younger generation (2016). This leaves a major gap in with our elderly population. Furthermore, within the reading by Sokolec, it mentions a strengths-based ecological model to instill peace and change to be at the level the elderly individual wants to be (2016). To me, spirituality means peace and homeostasis. This spiritual approach outlined in the Clinical Social Work Journals looking at resources, seeing these resources as means to promote well-being and health, and viewing these resources in the face of change ( ).
