Unit I PowerPoint Presentation 

Create a 10- to 12-slide PowerPoint presentation on a recent public health crisis that demonstrated the need for enormous coordination among multiple entities. You should review the grading rubric for this assignment prior to beginning your work and prior to submitting your assignment. 

Address the following key points: 

 Your presentation should address the increasing roles of private sector and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in delivery of aid and community recovery from disasters and public health crises.  The presentation should also include a section addressing the emotional and social impact of a public health crisis or disaster on a community. 

You will use various sources, including your textbook or other scholarly material. You are also encouraged to review media coverage of the event by accessing local or national media sites (i.e., print newspapers, local television sites, or community-based news sites). Since you will not be presenting this PowerPoint to your instructor in person, you may sometimes need to add written explanation for the content of your slides. If this becomes necessary, you may use the PowerPoint slide notes function to provide brief explanations. 

You will need to emphasize your key points so you will want to consider how fonts, colors, images, and backgrounds support this emphasis. A combination approach is appropriate, but it is recommended that you avoid excessive use of any one form of visual strategy. Each slide should address a single concept and slides should follow a logical progression, each building on the other. 

Treat your PowerPoint slides like you would any research paper—provide in-text citations and a reference slide for any outside sources, including direct quotations, paraphrased words or ideas, tables and data, and images. Use resources in the CSU Success Center to assist in citing all forms of references appropriately. The title and reference slides are not included in the required slide count. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted materials must have accompanying citations.

Proper presentation design techniques must be used, as well as notes on each slide to expand on what will be covered during the live presentation.

In a PowerPoint presentation, you will evaluate the studies and respond to each of the questions below, using both critical thinking and theory as well as supporting documentation.

Instructions

It is important to understand what information systems are and why they are essential for running and managing a business. The case studies below will provide you with an opportunity to review many of the concepts covered in this course. These case studies provide you with an opportunity to critically analyze events that are taking place in real-life organizations. This helps to develop your critical thinking and research skills as you research each of these scenarios.

For this assignment, you will review four case studies. Then, in a PowerPoint presentation, you will evaluate the studies and respond to each of the questions below, using both critical thinking and theory as well as supporting documentation.

1. Based on your reading of the case study “Can You Run the Company with Your iPhone?” on pages 9–10 of the textbook, discuss how emerging trends in technology are helping Network Rail improve railway performance and safety.
2. Based on your reading of the case study “Enterprise Social Networking Helps Sanofi Pasteur Innovate and Improve Quality” on pages 41–42 of the textbook, discuss how information systems influenced the company’s organizational strategy. Critique their core information system applications from a business perspective. Analyze how information system projects are aligned with organizational goals and strategies.
3. Based on your reading of the case study “Meltdown and Spectre Haunt the World’s Computers” on pages 309–310 of the textbook, discuss the ethical and security issues that could result from flaws in central processing unit (CPU) chip design. Assess their procedures for securing information systems.
4. Based on your reading of the case study “AbbVie Builds a Global Systems Infrastructure” on pages 586 of the textbook, discuss the problems that the company was experiencing as a global enterprise and how the company was able to solve them. Explain their information technology infrastructure. Discuss information system solutions that can be applied to this issue.

When formatting your PowerPoint presentation, do not use the question-and-answer format; instead, use bullets, graphics, and/or charts in your slides to identify important points, and then discuss those points in the speaker notes of each slide.

Your PowerPoint presentation must be at least 12 slides in length (not counting the title and reference slides). You are required to use a minimum of three peer-reviewed, academic sources that are no more than 5 years old (one may be your textbook). All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; all paraphrased material must have accompanying in-text citations.

For this Final Presentation, you will create a presentation to teach a chosen audience about language acquisition and development. This presentation must demonstrate how that audience can support language acquisition in their specific setting. You will also need to show how these professionals can be a resource to help families learn strategies in assisting their children at home. Be creative in your delivery. Include visuals, audio, and video, if you choose. Be thorough in your content. Be sure to address the required topics with critical thought, elaboration, and college-level writing. Choose an audience to develop your presentation for from the following list:

You can be creative but your presentation must include the following:
Opening Slide: State the purpose of the presentation for your chosen audience.
Professional Introduction (one slide): Design a professional introduction that acquaints yourself with your audience, highlighting your best attributes. Refer back to your Week 1 introduction discussion forum for support.

Language Rich Environment (one to two slides): Summarize three physical areas in your learning environment and describe how they can be used to support language development and acquisition. Refer back to your Week 2 assignment for support.

Speech Disorder (two slides): Summarize one speech disorder from Section 8.2 of the text. In your summary, discuss the characteristics of the disorder, what children with the disorder may experience, how to support children with this disorder, and one resource for families. Refer back to the Week 4 Communication Disorders Interactive learning activity for support.

Language Disorder (two slides): Summarize one language disorder from Section 8.3 of the text. In your summary, discuss the characteristics of the disorder, what children with the disorder may experience, how to support children with this disorder, and one resource for families. Refer back to the Week 4 Communication Disorders Interactive learning activity for support.

Family Centered Evening Plan (one slide): Discuss an event that offers families the opportunity to engage in activities promoting language acquisition. Explain how that event will facilitate language experiences.

Language Development Resources (one slide): Locate three language development and/or acquisition resources. For each resource, include a one-sentence summary and a link to the resource.

Belief Statement (one slide): Formulate your beliefs about your responsibility as an educator to support the language development of children in your classroom.

References Slide: Must use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course text. These sources are in addition to the sources listed on the Language Development Resource slide.
