Assignment Description
In this assignment, you will use the course materials, textbook, and Web resources to research historical efforts regarding both natural and man-made disasters. Evaluate the efforts in terms of effective response, preparation (or lack thereof), mitigation, and total recovery. Assignment Guidelines · Using the research obtained in the first portion of this assignment, select 1 natural hazard and 1 man-made hazard from your Phase 1 Individual Project. · With regard to the selected hazards, recommend a policy for approval by your city manager (600–800 words). · The policy should thoroughly address the following categories of efforts associated with the hazards: · Mitigation · Preparedness · Response · Recovery · Your policy proposal should address any significant overlaps in the efforts associated with each type of hazard chosen. · Be sure that all sources are referenced using APA style. Please submit your assignment. For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials. Why did the contraction of the U.S. and Japanese economies and the rise in the value of the yen hurt Sony’s export from Japan?

1. Why did the contraction of the U.S. and Japanese economies and the rise in the value of the yen hurt Sony’s export from Japan?2. In what other ways has the strong yen affected Sony’s bottom line? What would be the effect of the weak yen?3. Given the instability in the currency market, why do you think it is important for Sony to manufacture more products in the United State and Europe and to also buy more from suppliers in other countries in Asia?4. What are the major forces that affected the Japanese yen prior to the global financial crisis in the fourth quarter of 2008? What has had greatest impact on the yen since then, and where do you forecast the future value of the yen?

Describe the metric that is currently used to measure the soundness of the workflow. Is it effective?

Write a 3- to 5-page paper which includes the following: •Create a simple flowchart of the activity you selected. (Review the Sample Workflow of Answering a Telephone in an Office document found in this week’s Learning Resources for an example.) •Next, in your paper: •Explain the process you have diagrammed. •For each step or decision point in the process, identify the following: •Who does this step? (It can be several people.) •What technology is used? •What policies and rules are involved in determining how, when, why, or where the step is executed? •What information is needed for the execution of this step? •Describe the metric that is currently used to measure the soundness of the workflow. Is it effective? •Describe any areas where improvements could occur and propose changes that could bring about these improvements in the workflow. •Summarize why it is important to be aware of the flow of an activity. •Remember to include a cover page, introduction, and summary for your paper.

Write a 700- to 1,050-word analysis of the article or the legal case that explains how the issue relates to the nature, sources, and functions of the law.

analyze the difference between morals, values, and ethics

In this assignment, you will analyze the difference between morals, values, and ethics. In a 3- to 4-page paper, address the following: Define morals, values, and ethics. Provide three examples (one of each), relevant to the work of a professional counselor, which clearly differentiate the three. Identify specific ethical codes, which relate to values. Use ethical codes, as well as peer-reviewed articles, to identify three examples where values, either of the counselor or client, may surface in counseling. Evaluate how you will balance “being yourself” and be respectful of your clients’ value systems. Consider whether it is truly possible for counseling to be value-free. Include and discuss at least three peer-reviewed scholarly resources, which outline best practices for working with clients’ values as part of the counseling process. Your final product will be in a Microsoft Word document and be approximately 3–4 pages in length. Utilize three to four sources from professional literature in your research.

How does diet impact the incidence of heart disease (the #1 killer of Americans)?

How does diet impact the incidence of heart disease (the #1 killer of Americans)?   How can we reduce heart disease in the United States?   What advice would you give for someone trying to plan a heart-healthy diet?

Would you volunteer as a test subject in research on a vaccine or drug that could potentially save millions of lives?

Would you volunteer as a test subject in research on a vaccine or drug that could potentially save millions of lives?  The researchers assure you that you will be well cared for and will experience no long-term threats to your health (at least as far as they know from studies in mice). Consistent with testing protocols, however, you won’t know if you are part of the control or the experimental (AKA, test or treatment) group. What specific disease or condition would you consider being worth the potential risk to your health for you to participate? Or is there no disease/condition that would make you willing to participate? Explain.  How would you justify your decision to participate or not in the study to your family and friends?
Now imagine you’re 65 years old (but in good health)does this alter your thinking? Explain how and why. If it doesn’t alter your thinking, is there an age where it would?

How can we assess differences in quality or performance by sampling comparing z values under a standard normal curve?

First Question: Standard Normal
Why are standard z values so important?  Is it true that z values have no units of measurement?  Why would this be desirable for comparing data sets with different units of measurement?  How can we assess differences in quality or performance by sampling comparing z values under a standard normal curve?    Second Question: Explain the relationship between area and probability. Third Question:   Why is the Empirical Rule by itself insufficient? Fourth Question: What is Normal? Give some examples of variables that would have an approximately normal distribution. Fifth Question: a) What is a control chart and what is it used for? b) What are the steps for constructing a Control Chart? c) Explain the out of control signals? Fourth Question: Sampling Distributions To understand sampling distributions, consider the following: Suppose the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are placed on slips of paper and put in a hat.  Suppose we wish to draw two at a time, with replacement.  What are the possible samples of two numbers?  {1, 5} is not the same as {5,1}.  Once all the samples have been written down (this is easiest if you make a matrix with 1,2 3, 4 and 5 as the labels of the rows and also the labels of the columns) determine the mean of each sample.  Calculate the probabilities associated with each mean and then form a histogram with the means along the horizontal axis and the probabilities along the vertical axis.  What is the shape of this histogram?    This is a very small sample.  What does the Central Limit Theorem tell us about the ideal sample size?   What are the hypotheses of the Central Limit Theorem?   What is the underlying distribution of just x when drawing the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 where x is the number drawn?  What would the histogram of just x look like?    Answer part of the question, and leave other parts for someone else.  If you can draw of otherwise create the histograms, attach the pictures. Sixth Question: You will notice in this module there is a different formula for z scores.  How do we determine which to use?  What key words in a word problem would cause you to use the formula in this chapter as opposed to the previous formula?

× How can I help you?
