Should Mr. Doors add the CP2010-X model to the line of minicomputers?
Billy Doors, Vice President of Marketing for Qapmoc Computer, Inc., must decide whether to introduce a mid-priced version of the firm’s CP2010 minicomputer product line-the CP2010-X minicomputer. The CP2010-X would sell for $2,500, with unit variable costs of $1,450. Projections made by an independent marketing research firm indicate that the CP2010-X would achieve a sales volume of 480,000 units next year, in its first year of commercialization. 30 percent of the first year’s volume would come from competitors’ minicomputers and market growth. However, a consumer research study indicates that 40 percent of the CP2010-X sales volume would come from the higher-priced CP2010-Deluxe minicomputer, which sells for $6,450 (with unit variable costs of $2,350). Another 30 percent of the CP2010-X sales volume would come from the economy-priced CP2010-Millenium minicomputer, priced at $1,500 (with unit variable costs of $800). The CP2010-Deluxe unit volume is expected at 350,000 units next year, and the CP2010-Millenium is expected to achieve a 500,000 unit sales level. The fixed costs of launching the CP2010-X have been forecast at $2.5 million during its first year on the market. Should Mr. Doors add the CP2010-X model to the line of minicomputers?
How much will ABC order at a time after the acquisition of XYZ?
ABC Company sells widgets. Demand is constant, and equals 1837 units per year. Cost of placing an order is $100 per order. ABC buys the widgets at a cost $200 per unit, and sells them at a price of $300 per unit. ABC uses economic order quantity method for determining how much to order at a time. Inventory carrying charge is 20% per year. XYZ Company also sells same widgets. Demand is constant, and equals 1200 units per year. XYZ buys widgets from the same vendor who supplies to ABC (at a cost equal to $200 per unit), and sells the widgets at a price of $305 per unit. XYZ purchases 250 widgets at a time. Order cost equals $100 per order. Inventory carrying charge is 20% per year. Answer the following questions-1. How many units does ABC buy at a time from its vendor? Show details of your work.2. Determine the annual total inventory cost for XYZ.3. Suppose that XYZ Company is acquired by ABC Company. How much will ABC order at a time after the acquisition of XYZ? What are the annual inventory related savings for the new company (when compared to the situation where ABC and XYZ were operating independently)?
Describe the skills and characteristics that would be necessary to facilitate the change effort.
Health care organizations are continuously immersed in change from the emergence of new policies, to promote quality care and improve patient safety to keeping pace with the rapid growth in knowledge and best practices. Establishing a solid framework for planning and implementing change is a wise move, as it provides a foundation for the extensive coordination that will be needed to successfully facilitate the change. For this Assignment, you propose a change at the department or unit level and develop a plan for guiding the change effort. To prepare: Review Chapter 8 in the course text. Focus on Kurt Lewin’s change theory, and contrast it with other classic change models and strategies. Reflect on problems, inefficiencies, and critical issues within a specific department, unit, or area in your organization or one with which you are familiar. Select one issue as a focal point for this assignment, and consider a change that could be made to address the issue. Think about how the change would align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values as well as relevant professional standards. Using one of the change models or strategies discussed in Chapter 8, begin formulating a plan for implementing the change within the department/unit. Outline the steps that you and/or others should follow to facilitate the change effort. Align these steps to the change model or strategy you selected. Determine who should be involved in initiating and managing the change. Consider the skills and characteristics that are necessary to facilitate this change effort. To complete: By Day 7 Write a 3- to 5-page paper (page count does not include title and reference page) that addresses the following: Identify a problem, inefficiency, or issue within a specific department/unit. Describe a specific, realistic change that could be made to address the issue. Summarize how the change would align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values as well as relevant professional standards. Identify a change model or strategy to guide your planning for implementing the change. Provide a rationale for your selection. Outline the steps that you and/or others would follow to facilitate the change. Align these steps to your selected change model or strategy. Explain who would be involved in initiating and managing this change. Describe the skills and characteristics that would be necessary to facilitate the change effort.
Why are coding standards important for promoting consistent, high-quality care?
Standardized Coding Systems As a result of the fragmented nature of the health care system, professionals in various specialty areas of medicine have developed their own unique sets of terminology to communicate within that specialty. In the past, limited attention has been given to codifying practices in order for them to be understood and utilized across disciplines or through different information technology systems. The implementation of a federally mandated electronic medical records system, therefore, poses a challenge to nursing professionals and others who must be prepared to utilize standardized codes for the new system. Why are coding standards important for promoting consistent, high-quality care? According to Rutherford (2008, para. 15), “Improved communication with other nurses, health care professionals, and administrators of the institution in which nurses work is a key benefit of using a standardized nursing language.” In this Discussion you consider the reasoning behind and the value of standardized codification. To prepare: Review the information in Nursing Informatics: Scope and Standards of Practice. Determine which set of terminologies are appropriate for your specialty or area of expertise. Reflect on the importance of continuity in terminology and coding systems. In the article, “Standardized Nursing Language: What Does It Mean for Nursing Practice?” the author recounts a visit to a local hospital to view its implementation of a new coding system. One of the nurses commented to her, “We document our care using standardized nursing languages but we don’t fully understand why we do” (Rutherford, 2008, para. 1). Consider how you would inform this nurse (and others like her) of the importance of standardized nursing terminologies. Reflect on the value of using a standard language in nursing practice. Consider if standardization can be limited to a specialty area or if one standard language is needed across all nursing practice. Then, identify examples of standardization in your own specialty or area of expertise. Conduct additional research using the Walden Library that supports your thoughts on standardization of nursing terminology.

What can the manager do to increase the proportion of properly inflated tires?
Toledo Tire Company recently bought a new compressor which automatically fills automotive tires to specified pressure. It was specified by the compressor manufacturer that standard deviation for the fillings was 2 PSI. For getting best fuel economy, it is suggested the tire pressures should be set in the range 30 to 35 PSI. Since under-inflation is lot more undesirable than over inflation, the manager set the compressor to fill the tires at an average pressure of 33.0 PSI. Answer the following questions-1. What is the process capability of the system for filling tires?2. What proportion of tires can be expected to be under inflated?3. What proportion of tires can be expected to be over inflated?4. In your opinion, are there any dual relationships that you consider acceptable? And if so, under what circumstances?
Dual or multiple relationships are a significant ethical and legal issue for counseling organizations. While it is clear that all types of dual or multiple relationships are not forbidden, there is the potential for damage to the client, even in acceptable multiple relationships. The relationship between the supervising counselor and the supervisee can also be at risk. The director wants to engage the newer counselors in a dialogue about dual relationships. Her goal is to determine what the current viewpoint is on this issue among the newer, less experienced counselors. As such, the director wants you to run the workshop for your supervisees to discuss the issue of dual relationships. Outline your position on dual relationships to prepare for the workshop. Briefly describe a minimum of four (4) different types of dual relationships, both prohibited and acceptable Answer the following questions: In your opinion, are there any dual relationships that you consider acceptable? And if so, under what circumstances? In your opinion, is it ever acceptable for a counselor to engage in a sexual relationship with a client, former client, or family member of a client or former client? And if so, under what circumstances? What are some of the potential hazards to engaging in dual or multiple relationships with clients, former clients, or family members of clients or former clients?

How Would You Rule?
Journal 1 Separate groups: All participants EXERCISE 1 How Would You Rule? Assume you are a judge with the appropriate jurisdiction to decide the following: 1. You are a judge who must decide whether to allow the jury to consider a lower level of homicide for Andrea Yates. She drowned all five of her children in the bathtub and then called the police. Although the jury makes the factual judgment, the judge decides if there is enough evidence to consider a lower charge as a matter of law. 2. You are an appellate judge and must choose whether to set aside a conviction of a woman who murdered an infant. The defense alleges that the sheriff violated attorney-client privilege by obtaining a warrant to seize a map drawn by the convicted woman showing where the baby was buried. She pulled the map for her lawyer, and, as such, legal experts contend it should be protected under the attorney-client privilege. The trial judge granted the warrant because of testimony by the sheriff and his deputies that they believed the baby might still be alive and they needed the map to find him, but the evidence presented to you indicates that all the law enforcement officials involved believed that the baby was dead and wanted the map only to help convict the offender. There is overwhelming evidence of guilt, and a new trial would subject the parents to constant reminders of their loss. What would you do? 3. You must decide whether a particular piece of artwork is obscene. The artist has painted a series of sex scenes, including bondage, sadomasochism, bestiality, and necrophilia, interspersed with paintings of nude children at play. She states that her art has to redeem social qualities because it is a statement of humanity’s many faces. The series of paintings are being displayed in a public gallery supported by the city and federal funds. The district attorney has filed for an injunction to close the show due to obscenity. How would you rule? How did you make your decision? EXERCISE 2 How Would You Rule? Assume you are a judge who must sentence the following people: 1. A young woman was led into drug use and sales by her stepfather, who had been sleeping with her since she was eleven. 2. A father who killed the man who molested his child. 3. An honors college student who drank at a fraternity rush party, drove back to the dorm, and, on the way, ran over a pedestrian and killed her. 4. A poor single mother who embezzled money from her employer to pay for her child’s needed surgery since the employer did not provide health insurance
