Conduct an in-depth analysis and evaluation of an agency’s budgeting

Assignment Overview

As a consultant, you need to develop an in-depth analysis and evaluation of the selected agency’s budgeting, and then provide recommendations for improvement. Therefore, you will conduct interviews with agency representatives and research related academic sources and websites. The analysis will be read by the VP of accounts and client support, as well as by the leaders of the agency for whom you are working.

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Write a 5 page paper in which you:

• Analyze the agency’s (or department’s) budget by following these steps and including the results of the analysis in your paper by: a) identifying the agency’s budget as executive department or an independent agency; b) determining which of the appropriation subcommittees has jurisdiction over each agency’s budget request; c) determining where each agency’s operations fall in the functional classification of the federal budget; d) determining the budget authority and outlays proposed for the agency; and e) determining the actual outlays and budget authority for the agency in that year. Title this section Budget Overview.
• Analyze two major political influences on, and primary accountability areas required of, program administrators after reviewing FY2012 regarding mandatory and discretionary budgets. Title this section Budgeting Assessment.
• Explain which intergovernmental agencies contribute to and/or influence the budgetary decisions for the current and future budget over the next five years. Title this section Analysis of Budgeting Plans and Actual Expenditures.
• Analyze the impact of international policy making on the current year’s budgets and its possible impact on future budget line items. Title this section Implications of Foreign Policy.
• Recommend two robust ways in which the agency could improve the budget for the next fiscal year. Title this section Budget Request and Recommendations.
• Provide the completed PAD599 Interview Template for 1–2 interviews, putting this information in Appendix under Interviews.
• Go to Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library to locate and provide 4–5 academic sources and government websites you expect to access in your research. Include no more than one non-government website.

What are the common characteristics of these separatist movements?

This week’s reflection essay is based on the topic of devolution in Europe.  Looking at the map, “Europe: Foci of Devolutionary Pressures”, it is evident that there are many regions within this realm experiencing this phenomenon.  In fact, in the last years and months, there has been reported in the news media several such cases, including, but not limited to: a) Catalonia, a region of Spain, voted for independence; b) In September 2014, Scotland’s population went to the poles to decide if they would become independent from United Kingdom, a proposal that was defeated by a very small margin of votes; and, c) Ukraine is currently experiencing the loss of territory to Russia by the annexation of Crimea by this country, and the secession of some territories with significant ethnic Russian separatist groups supported by the government of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia.

After reading Chapter # 1 of our textbook (Europe), making emphasis on the most important points made in the section, “Diminishing State Power and New Regionalism” of our course textbook (de Blij and Muller 2010: 60), and using reputable sources and articles published in one of the most prestigious media source in the world, the British Broadcast Corporation News (BBC.com) only, compose an essay summarizing the reasons why these regions are trying to secede to create independent nations, or to gain at-least greater autonomy to make their own decisions, while answering the following questions:

• According to the source/s you consulted, what are the main reason/s why these populations would like to break-up from these countries?
• Do this/these source/s mention any explanation/s based on cultural or ethnic characteristics? For example, speaking a different language? Which one? Professing a different religion?  Which one?  Economic disparities? Explain.

Scenario Information

Your agency administrator has tasked you with creating a cross-platform digital marketing plan that the Costa’s Customs can implement. You have been asked to summarize your knowledge of digital marketing and understanding of Costa’s clothing market in a slide presentation for the executive team which includes five other directors and the CEO. You were reminded to include details of how each digital marketing method will positively impact the company’s goals of growing sales and increasing brand awareness.
