Rhetorical Situation,
Exigence (in terms of the Rhetorical Situation),
Audience (in terms of the Rhetorical Situation),
Constraints (and opportunities) (in terms of the Rhetorical Situation),
Invention (in terms of the Canon),
Arrangement (in terms of the Canon),

Watch a Super Bowl commercial from an online source. In approximately 200 words, explain whether you judge it to be ethical or unethical and explain what would need to be changed in order to have you reverse your analytical judgment. Be as specific as possible in terms of respect for listeners and concern for consequences. Describe the ad sufficiently and summarize its contents fairly and carefully.
In Chapter 2, Dr. Zarefsky stresses the importance of establishing positive ethos. What is ethos? Describe a specific circumstance you recently observed in which a speaker did or did not establish positive ethos and how that affected a speech (for example, a speech you recently watched on television or at a civic event or public meeting) or a presentation given at your job or school.
Provide two (2) reasons why amending the U.S. Constitution would be necessary versus passing a law. Include Marbury v. Madison and U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton.

Directions: Be sure to save an electronic copy of your answer before submitting it to Ashworth College for grading. Unless otherwise stated, answer in complete sentences, and be sure to use correct English, spelling, and grammar. Sources must be cited in APA format. Your response should be four (4) double?spaced pages; refer to the Format Requirements? page located at the beginning of this learning guide for specific format requirements.
Suppose you are part of a political organization that has taken the position that one of the ways to fix Congress is to impose term limits on members of the Senate and House of Representatives. Your initial research reflects that it will be necessary to amend the U.S. Constitution to accomplish this. Prepare a plan detailing how your organization will accomplish its goal. Include the following.
1. Provide two (2) reasons why amending the U.S. Constitution would be necessary versus passing a law. Include Marbury v. Madison and U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton.
2. In view of the canons of construction and interpretation, name and explain three (3) necessary elements that you must consider before drafting language to amend the U.S. Constitution.
3. List the two (2) primary paths you would pursue to amend the U.S. Constitution. Cite the applicable section(s) of the Constitution.
4. Explain the three branches of government including each branchs authority and responsibility. How would your plan impact each branch?
Identify critical gaps in the skills, competencies, and capabilities that Trader Joes currently has versus what you think they will need in the future.
Case Analysis with Discussion: KSF AnalysisIntegrating Internal Resource and External Ecosystems Analyses: Trader Joes and U.S. Food Retailing Revisited
Trader Joes and the Food Retailing Sector Revisited
In Week 3 you utilized the case study, Trader Joes (Ager & Roberto, 2013), to analyze the current skills, competencies, and capabilities along Trader Joes value chain, which included supplier- and customer-related activities. For this weeks case analysis, you will use your prior work on the skills, competencies, and capabilities of Trader Joes, but now you will re-analyze your findings relative to the implications of a quick run-through of both general force (P.E.S.T.) and competitive force (five-force) analysis of the food retail sector in the United States.
The goal of this weeks analysis is to compare your current skill, competencies, and capabilities analysis of Trader Joes with what your think the future Key Success Factors (KSFs) for the company will be, drawing on data you research about the industry.
To develop the KSFs, consider which core skills and capabilities Trader Joes currently has (from your prior analysis). Then, based on a quick and less formal general P.E.S.T. and competitive ecosystem five-forces analysis, determine which critical skills, competencies, and capabilities Trader Joes must develop or acquire in order to thrive over the next 5 years.
The logic of the KSF analysis requires you to bring strategic analysis of external issues together with an evaluation of internal skills and capabilities for the first time. Remember, ALL strategy comes down to (1) how you deploy your current skills, competencies, and capabilities, how you develop or redevelop those, and how you augment them via more investment/training, purchase, or acquisition; and (2) what you decide to do with those skills in the future.
So, this week you are moving into future thinking mode, and are considering what are the Key Success Factors for the future?
To prepare for this Discussion:
Review all required readings, including the Weekly Briefing, which provides additional guidance on how to complete the assignment.
Review your analysis of Trader Joes from Week 3 and review your original research on the company and industry.
Conduct additional research on the U.S. food retailing industry to obtain some insights about future threats and opportunities in the industry.
Identify and review all relevant readings from the Capstone Program Bibliography.
By Day 3, post a polished Key Success Factor analysis that responds to each of the prompts below:
Based on your projections for the implications of FUTURE five-forces of competition, P.E.S.T. (general environment), and stakeholder support (or stakeholder challenges), what essential skills, competencies, and capabilities will be CRITICAL in order for Trader Joes to survive or thrive in the future? Why? Support your evaluation with evidence and reasoning linked to appropriate knowledge.
Note: These critical areas may be the same as in the past, BUT they may not. Think this through carefully and use your innovative and economic thinking skills from prior courses. You must become futurists to be good strategists, which means there IS some ambiguity about the bets you will be making (thats one of the responsibilities of senior leadership).
Identify critical gaps in the skills, competencies, and capabilities that Trader Joes currently has versus what you think they will need in the future. Think about how Trader Joes can bridge that gap. If Trader Joes were to hire you as consultant to provide strategic direction in what specific skills, competencies, and capabilities the company should invest in or acquire (and how), which would you emphasize as critical and why?
Be sure to integrate concepts and quotes from this weeks readings.
Complete an analysis of the key internal factors that have implications for successful implementation of your organizations strategy and goals/objectives.
Complete an analysis of the key internal factors that have implications for successful implementation of your organizations strategy and goals/objectives. Submit your work in your assignment folder in the form of an approximate 2,000-word double-spaced APA-formatted paper. The title page, reference list, and any appendices are not included in this suggested word count. You do not need to include an abstract.
Your paper should address these topics:
Given the companys Vision, Mission and Objectives (VMO), identify the companys core competencies and assess which ones are rare, costly, or not easily imitated. Discuss how they are related to and critical to the VMO execution.
Present a summary of your organizations strengths and weaknesses. Submit the SWOT format in Table form and add in some narrative to discuss the strengths and weaknesses in more detail. Explain in your discussion (not in the table) why you selected them and how they relate to the VMO and organization strategy. (Note: You will have an opportunity to complete a full SWOT analysis, including threats and opportunities, as part of your week 6 paper.). You might find this resource helpful:

Apply the Resource-Based View (RBV) to help you identify both the tangible and intangible assets your organization may be able to use to accomplish its intended strategies. You can list them in a table form and then follow with a discussion of the assets, why you selected them and how they relate to the VMO and strategy.

Prepare a 12- to 15-slide PowerPoint® presentation with speaker notes requesting initial funding of $500,000 to start and run a start-up company
Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to allow the student an opportunity to apply their understanding of cash flow management, break-even analysis, and short-term and long-term financing in starting and growing a business.
Assignment Steps
Resources: OECD Database, Corporate Finance
Prepare a 12- to 15-slide PowerPoint® presentation with speaker notes requesting initial funding of $500,000 to start and run a start-up company. The proposed start-up company could be an existing business model (coffee shop, pet store, etc.) or could be something entirely new and exciting.
Create the presentation in the following format, with at least one slide to cover each of the following areas:
Title Page
Table of Contents
Executive Summary
Information about the Industry
Marketing Plan
Competitor Analysis
3 Year Income Statement (Profit & Loss) Projections
Include your assumptions for why and how you will achieve your sales growth and what significant expenses and investments you expect to incur to achieve your revenue goals.
3 Year Proposed Funding Schedule (Sources and uses of the funds received.)
Break-Even Analysis
Academic and Business References
Review the following scenarios and assumption, and explain how it impacts your decision to expand:
After Year 3, the investors are interested in your company expanding internationally to possibly outsource labor or to reduce manufacturing costs. What countries would you expand to first, and why? What factors would you need to consider in making this decision?
What is the corporate tax rate in the countries you are considering expanding your business to, and how will that affect your decision to expand globally? (Use OECD Database or another resource to determine the corporate tax rate).
The investors want to see a decision tree detailing the decisions you would make if you received $300K now and $200K at the end of three years instead of $500K up front.
The investors would like your team to provide advantages and disadvantages of using debt financing versus selling company stock to raise capital for growth.
Briefly explain the venture capital process. Does it make sense for your company to raise funds through venture capital?
Suppose A is the cost of renting at Avis. Find a linear equation involving A and x.
You begin by contacting two car rental companies, Avis and Enterprise. Avis offers a midsize car for $64.99 per day with unlimited mileage. This means that for this rental the number of miles driven does not impact on the cost. Enterprise offers a midsize car for $ 45.87 per day with 150 miles free. But each mile beyond 150 that the car is driven cost $0.25. It is clear that Enterprise offers the better deal if the car is driven fewer than 150 miles. But what if the car is driven more than 150 miles? At what point will the Avis rental become a better deal? Lets analyze the situation. Let x denote the number of miles the car is driven.
1. Suppose A is the cost of renting at Avis. Find a linear equation involving A and x.
2. Now let E be the cost of renting at Enterprise. Find a linear equation involving E and x, if x ? 150. Find a linear equation involving E and x, if x > 150.
3. Graph the linear Equations found in part (1) and (2) on the same set of coordinate axes. Be careful about the restrictions on x for the equations found in part (2).
4. Find the mileage beyond which the Avis rental is more economical by finding the point of intersection of the two graphs. Label this point on this graph.
5. Explain how you can use the solution to part (4) to decide on which car rental is more economical.
6. In an effort to find an even better deal, you contact Auto Save Rental. They offer a midsize car for $36.99 per day with 100 miles free. Each mile driven over 100 miles costs $0.25. Find equation(s) that involve the cost S at Auto Save Rental and the miles x driven.
7. Graph this equation on the same graph found in part (3).
8. It should be clear that Auto Save Rental is the best choice among the three if you are driving less than 100 miles. For what values of x, if any, do Avis or Enterprise offer a better deal?
9. Still not sure you have the best deal, you call Usave Car Rental. They offer a midsize car for $35.99 per day with 200 free miles. Each mile over 200 costs $0.25. Find an equation for the cost U at Usave and graph it on the same graph found on the part (7).
10. For what values of x, if any, is Usave the best deal?
11. Discuss your choice of car rental companies if you think you will drive between 125 and 175 miles.
