Employees’ social media and how it can impact their job.

Subject: Legal, Ethical, & Social Environment

Topic:Employees’ social media and how it can impact their job.

Research Paper: This is a graduate course and students will be expected to research and write papers summarizing in their own words what they have found on current topics from the weekly readings. Research is a theoretical review of relevant literature and application of findings in the literature to a topic related to a specific industry, field, or business problem.

The research must be conducted using peer-reviewed trade or academic journals. While Blogs, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, course textbooks, popular magazines, newspaper articles, online websites, etc. are helpful for providing background information, these resources are NOT suitable resources for this research assignment.

Please Note: The UC Library staff are very helpful with assisting students in using the UC Online Library journal database. Please contact them if you have issues. In addition, the instructor has provided additional resources, including a research tutorial, in the “Course Resources” folder in the “Content” area of the course.

Assignment Requirements:

  • Choose a research topic from the chapter readings or from the list provided by your professor.
  • Research/find a minimum at least four (4), preferably five (5) or more, different peer-reviewed articles on your topic from the University of the Cumberlands Library online business database. The article(s) must be relevant and from a peer-reviewed source. While you may use relevant articles from any time frame, current/published within the last five (5) years are preferred. Using literature that is irrelevant or unrelated to the chosen topic will result in a point reduction.
  • Write a four (4) to five (5) page double spaced paper in APA format discussing the findings on your specific topic in your own words. Note paper length does not include a cover page, abstract, or references page(s).
  • Structure your paper as follows:
  • Cover page
  • An overview describing the importance of the research topic to current business and professional practice in your own words.
  • The purpose of Research should reflect the potential benefit of the topic to the current business and professional practice and the larger body of research.
  • Review of the Literature summarized in your own words. Note that this should not be a “copy and paste” of literature content, nor should this section be substantially filled with direct quotes from the article. A literature review is a summary of the major points and findings of each of the selected articles (with appropriate citations). Direct quotations should be used sparingly. Normally, this will be the largest section of your paper (this is not a requirement; just a general observation).
  • Practical Application of the literature. Describe how your findings from the relevant research literature can shape, inform, and improve current business and professional practice related to your chosen topic.
  • Conclusion in your own words
  • References formatted according to APA style requirements

Leonardo’s Theorem now follows from Theorem 10.2.3 and Theorem 10.2.4.
One of the consequences of Leonardo’s Theorem is:

Theorem 10.2.5. The group of symmetries of a polygon in the plane is either a cyclic group or a dihedral group.
Proof. Given a vertex A of a polygon, together with an adjacent vertex B, any symmetry of the polygon must map A onto one of the vertices of the polygon, in which case there are at most two possible adjacent vertices that can be the image of B. In other words, there are only a finite number of symmetries. Leonardo’s Theorem now tells us that the group of symmetries is either a cyclic group or a dihedral group.

Amazon and eBay

Online marketplace is an e-commerce site that links sellers with buyers. Online Amazon, eBay, and Craigslist are the examples of E-Market places. Companies utilize online marketplaces to connect with customers who want to purchase their products and services. Amazon and eBay were among the first e-marketplaces.

Amazon and eBay are two largest players in the e-commerce sector. Amazon and eBay have many comparisons, at first in attracting visitors to their site, providing them the ability to browse existing products and make a purchase. The differences between the two companies exists in their business models. Amazon works like a traditional retail store whereas eBay functions other like an auction house.

Amazon depend on third-party sellers to list their products on the site so that consumers have a large inventory of goods to search through. Also, eBay depend on sellers to list their goods for sale to be auctioned off in a certain time. Amazon is buyer orientated while eBay is seller orientated.

eBay is an auction house and marketplace that basically facilitates the sale of goods between third-party buyers and sellers. Buyers visit the site to search for products they want to buy from big list of individual sellers and then bid on items through individual auctions.

Amazon is an immediate provider of goods, and customers visiting its site view products that Amazon maintains as inventory in its large network of warehouses. Amazon’s products are either from their own brand or from third-party sellers, the last of which makes up the bulk of its offerings.

Even though Amazon and eBay are two of the largest players in e-commerce, both have much different business models. Amazon works like a traditional retail store, attracting buyers to its site to purchase its listed inventory, while eBay attracts sellers to list their personal goods, working as an auction house or a garage sale.

As a buyer, depends on what you are seeking to purchase, either Amazon or eBay will be a better fit for your needs. Similarly, as a seller, based on your business model and selling needs, one company will work better for your business goals.

What do you think are the main strengths in having a cost-benefit analysis done for a project or policy or programme?

Question 1
What do you think are the main strengths in having a cost-benefit analysis done for a project or policy or programme? What are some of the limitations of cost-benefit analysis? For each of the limitations you have provided, can you suggest how we can minimise or resolve these limitations? Finally, what are your own views of cost-benefit analysis, considering all of the above responses and the literature in general? (25 marks)
Question 2
In cost-benefit analysis, the main focus is on efficiency, specifically the Kaldor-Hicks notion of economic efficiency. Do you think that cost-benefit analysis falls short when equity issues are not given due priority? If so, why do you think that way, and if not, why? And, if cost-benefit analysis were to consider equity issues, how might that be done (in your answer, explain with some numerical examples).
Question 3
[Part 1]
You are hired by the government to conduct a cost-benefit analysis for a proposed workforce skills enhancement programme. The programme requires the government to build a new training facility. You need to find the net social cost (or benefit) of materials used in the construction. The marginal cost (MC) of supplying a material used in construction is MC=0.01Q, where Q is quantity. Due to various market imperfections, the good is sold according to the supply curve P=0.02Q, where P is price. The private inverse demand function for the good is P=6.0-0.04Q. The project will need 50 added units of Q at every P. Find
a. The expression of the new inverse demand function (2 marks)
b. The pre-project equilibrium (2 marks)
c. The post-project equilibrium (2 marks)
d. The budget cost of materials to the government (2 marks)
e. The consumer surplus loss (2 marks)
f. The producer surplus gain (4 marks)
g. The net social cost (or benefit) of materials (2marks)
[Part 2] The government found an existing facility that can be reused for the programme (i.e. no construction needed). The training programme will cost the government $100 per participant in year zero and nothing thereafter. It generates benefits of β per participant per year beginning in year one. These benefits decline by 0.2β each year, so that in the sixth year they are zero. All wages and prices rise by 5 percent each year, and the nominal discount rate is 7 percent
h. Find the level of β required to make the program a success. (4 marks)
i. A subject matter expert has determined that the programme requires the participant to commit full-time to the training (i.e. participants will not be able to hold a full-time job(. Would it make a difference to your analysis if the participants are employed or not? Briefly explain your answer to the policymaker who has commissioned you to conduct the analysis (1/2 page or less, point form is ok). (5 marks)

a. What are the annual visitation rate for each zone? (2 marks)
b. What are the mean travel cost for each zone? (2 marks)
c. Construct a diagram showing the estimated demand relationship (travel cost per visit vs annual visit rate) for the attraction. In the diagram, show the difference between the following scenarios:
I. if no consumers are willing to pay more than $90 to visit the park,
II. if consumers are willing to pay more than $90 to visit the park. (6 marks)
d. Consider the people living only in Zone 5. What is the consumer surplus for visits to the attraction? Assume that no consumers are willing to pay more than $90 to visit the park. (1 marks)
e. Find the total consumer surplus for visits to the attraction, assuming that consumers are willing to pay more than $90 to visit the park. (5 marks)
