Wk 2 P Values and The Search for Significance Discussion

P-values and Confidence Intervals In a hypothesis test, P-value assists in determining the meaning of results. The p-value is an alternative way to reject points to give the least level of significance at which the null hypothesis would be rejected (“P Values”). If a p-value is small this will mean that evidence is strong and in favor of the alternative hypothesis (“P Values”). They are calculated by using tables, spreadsheets, and statistical software. Confidence intervals are the probability that a population parameter will come in between two set values for a specific amount of time (Kenton, 2020). Confidence intervals can take any number of prospects, with commonalities of being 95% or 99% confidence level (Kenton, 2020).Three reasons why it may be preferable to report a Confidence Interval over a P-value and exampleThree reasons the Confidence Interval would be preferable over a P-value would be when using the confidence interval as a test or significance, giving an estimated range of values that most likely include an unknown population parameter and determining the width of the Confidence level. For an example of the (CI), the width would be determining the mean age in a population, the danger of developing a certain outcome (Kenton, 2020). Another example is the study that was conducted by Brinton and colleagues who studied infertile patients. Patients of this study went through evaluation for infertility and results showed a significantly higher rate of ovarian cancer among those being evaluated of those with ovarian cancer (Attia, n.d.). The general population was of female data using a standardized incidence ratio, (CI) (Attia, n.d.). Based on the data and using (CI), this meant that infertile females have a higher ovarian cancer incidence than non-infertile females.ReferencesAttia, A. (n.d.). EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE CORNER . HIST 111 American History from 1877 to Present Discussion

1. Make sure you  provide direct examples from each book to support your answers.  Include page numbers after specific examples used. (Larson, 290).   A parenthetical reference is used at the end of the sentence.  I am looking usually for at least one page reference per answer.    One of the goals of this assignment is having students cite when necessary in their answer..Remember that citations are needed for direct quotes, statistics, indirect paraphrased portions of the text and non-common information.2. The key to doing well on the worksheets is not writing what the author wrote but instead answering the question in your words and using references and quotes from the author’s book to illustrate and strengthen your answer.

Case study: developing professional capacity

ÿ
Teachers are often very comfortable with giving specific and measurable feedback to their students. However, when the audience shifts to adults, some new school leaders are often nervous about providing specific and measurable feedback.
Read the “Developing Professional Capacity” case study to inform the assignment.
Developing professional capacity is a complex process. It requires data collection and analysis, while keeping in mind student achievement as the desired end result. Using your classroom teacher perspective and knowledge of administration leadership, consider the conversations you will have through the evaluation cycle.
Part 1: Case Analysis
In 250-500 words, respond to the case study by addressing the following:

Brief summary of the case
Issues to be resolved
Stakeholders involved in the issues
One or two existing laws or court rulings that relate to the issues
District policies that relate to the issues
Possible solutions to the issues
Solutions chosen to resolve the issues
Action steps (2-5) for implementing each solution, including a timeline for each step
Potential moral and legal consequences of each solution

Part 2: Rationale
Support the case analysis with a 250-500 word rationale explaining the solutions you chose and how each solution:

Uses data to design plans for developing the instructional capacity of faculty.
Makes decisions that promote a culture of collaboration, trust, learning, and high expectations.
Evaluates potential moral and legal consequences to make difficult decisions with integrity and fairness.
Strives to build and sustain positive relationships between school representatives, students, families, and community partners, when their needs conflict.

Cite the case as well as 2-3 scholarly resources.
If possible, share your case analysis with your principal mentor and make revisions based on his or her feedback before submitting with Part 1.
While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and any source documents should be referenced using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment uses a rubricÿ. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to theÿLopesWrite Technical Support Articles is located in Class Resourcesÿif you need assistance.

Business research and decision making week 1

ÿA technology company has seen a declining interest in its smartphone products over the last 3 quarters?the chief operating officer (COO) tasks the Marketing Department to find out what features are requested most by consumers. Then, the team will select one new feature to add to the smartphone products. The targeted launch of the new product is in 6 months. The Marketing Vice President (VP) needs to determine whether they should use a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research design.

Research question: What are the most important features that would influence a customer to buy a smartphone?
Qualitative research method: A research method used to gain insight and explore the depth and complexity of the topic being researched
Quantitative research method: A research method used to establish the associations between variables associated with the research topic or to establish causality
Mixed-methods research method: A research method in which elements of qualitative and quantitative research are used to explore and examine the research topic

In addition to the research question to explore which features influence a customer to buy a smartphone, the team now wants to add a hypothesis test to examine one particular feature further. After reviewing customer feedback that has come in over the last 3 months, the team is seeing a high frequency of complaints about the length of time that their smartphone battery is lasting between charges. Does this necessarily mean that a long-lasting battery is a feature preference that the team should be aware of? The team decides to test a hypothesis to find out.

Population: From the participant response rate in past marketing research studies, the team knows that it needs a sample size of 200 to get at least a 30% response rate.
Research question: Which features influence you to purchase a smartphone?
Hypothesis: Customers prefer a battery that lasts longer between charges to other smartphone features.
Probability sampling techniques: Table 7.2 on p. 307 and pp. 307?314 of the textbook
Nonprobability sample techniques: Pages 315?324 of the textbook

Include the following in the research method and sample analysis:

Introduce the reader to the use of qualitative and quantitative research methods in business research design and the methods available for identifying a sample for a research design.
Compare the given qualitative and quantitative research designs, and explain how each will enable the answering of the given business research question.
Assess the given sample selection techniques, and select the technique that best enables a good sample size for testing the given hypothesis.
The conclusion should summarize key points from the research methods and sampling analysis discussed above.

Deliverable Requirements
The research methods and sample analysis should be 5 pages in length. Be sure to cite sources using APA properly; include references and in-text citations.
Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, that you will need the following:

Title page: Remember the running head. The title should be in all capitals.
Length: 5 pages minimum
Body: This begins on the page following the title page and must be double-spaced (be careful not to triple- or quadruple-space between paragraphs). The typeface should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics, except as required for APA-level headings and references. The deliverable length of the body of your paper for this assignment is 5 pages. In-body academic citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety of academic sources is encouraged.
Reference page: References that align with your in-body academic sources are listed on the final page of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate spacing, hanging indent, italics, and uppercase and lowercase usage as appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the Reference page is not a bibliography but a further listing of the abbreviated in-body citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a corresponding in-body citation.
